Actually in Vienna public transport isn't that expensive compared to other European capitals. The annual ticket costs 365 € so for 1 € a day you can use all the trams, buses and metro lines. But I agree that the cost of housing has risen a lot in the last 10 years.

I’ve lived in the States, Japan and Austria for many years in each place and Austria is absolutely the best of them all. Period! My German is no good, but I manage. Average restaurant meal is more like 12 eur in Vienna. Winters are cold and dark but that makes you appreciate the beautiful springs that much more. Lovely country!

It is not true that you cannot find a pharmacy open in Vienna at nighttime. In fact in every district in Vienna there are pharmacies that stay open late every night. You can get information which tells you exactly which pharmacy will be open on which night, as the local pharmacies operate a rota system between themselves so that customers can still get their medication after all the general shops have closed for the night. .

I think its a cute opinion. Im Austria, living in another country so i understand the perspective of things bothers you. One thing which is simply not true tho; at least in vienna there is ALWAYS a pharmacie open at night, they are called "Nachtapotheke" and its usually one for each neighbourhood.

Sorry but these points are almost all not true. We have plenty of Restaurants with lower prices. The travelsystem is very cheap and you get low prices for Students. Imagine you live in a Country where people speak there own language omg! ;) we have many old people in Austria, they never had to learn englisch, or simply don't want to speak it. There are many farmacie stores open at night, we call this Notfallapotheke, you can get medication at night aswell... and it is good that you need to go to a doctor for most of the medications, instead of getting any drug you want. It is also a good thing to not open stores at night, because we are not so many people and it would be very expansive to open up all night and sunday is the day of the Lord and we are a Christian Religion based culture. Also imagine you have to study properly to really learn something ... cmon this is like the reason to study... it is not like in russia where you can buy almost everything, beginning with the driving license. Speaking of russia... it is way colder in russia lol, but yeah this one is kinda true. If you ask me, you probably are to young and it wasn't the right time for your journey

Some pharmacies are kind of „open“ at night! Someone is there and you can go there in an emergency! But it is not encouraged to go there, if you can wait until the morning

Used to live in Vienna and the public transport is one of the cheapest in Europe. Just 50 euros per month or 365 per year (1 euro per day) for full access to Wiener Linen (trams, buses, metro and even regional trains access in Vienna). Also there are cheap places to eat lunch by spending sth like 10 euros on average. Housing is also affordable. Living in Vienna is not that expensive. I was not exceeding 900 euros per moth for food and rent (I was not living in a shared flat). Initially I was also a bit disappointed not having any opened grocery store on Sunday, but those people have families too and they deserve a day off to rest. I mean it was not hard to buy all the stuff that I need on Friday evening or Saturday. I also appreciate that payed holidays are respected in Austria as well, so grocery stores are closed as well. Also in Vienna almost everyone speaks English, but here I agree that in smaller cities such as Graz or Innsbruck you might have a hard time to find people who speak English. Regarding medicine it is true that they have a different mindset and usually you should check a doctor who will give you a prescription, but if you really feel sick the pharmacist will inquire about you symptoms and give you something until you could go to the doctor. But they really didn't mind or ask any questions when I needed sth very basic like Paracetamol. The only real problem that I found in Vienna and the main reason why I left is the large amount of people. I know that for such a big city it is still relaxed compared to Madrid, Barcelona or London, but I come from a 300k (population) town and it was just simply too crowded for me, especially that I had the office in the first district.

There are farmacies that open all night. But it's usually only one farmacy for a pretty large area and the change every day. It's called Nachtdienst/Nachtapotheke.

I agree 100% with what you’ve said, I grew up in Brazil/USA & lived in many places. I even own property here in Austria. Overall, Austria felt like a dystopia in the disguise of “social benefits” ... The populace rejects anyone that is not “pure austrian/white” - makes work & social life a cumbersome ordeal with no future. It is not a place to find a home, in any sense of the word.

yes, we´re expensive, but you can still easily find good restaurants in my country where you dine a lot cheaper than you said, let´s say half of it, great quality the same. if you´re able to google, you can find open pharmacies 24/7, there´s always a few on emergency. same goes for shopping. you´ll always find a shop if you really really need something. all 24/7 gasoline stations are supermarkets, too. for us, it is a luxury when shops are closed on sundays and holidays, because permanent shopping is an awful bondage in our western culture. as for the language: actually, almost everybody here in austria speaks english, but that said: why should they in the first place?

I did an internship in Villach, which is a small town in Carinthia for 3 months in 2019 and I agree with most of your points. I knew very little German and I also had to face some situations where people didn't understand English but anyways it wasn't a huge problem there because the people there were really nice and helpful. The day I came to Villach it was raining heavily and the temperature dropped very low and I literally froze to death because I hadn't brought any winter clothes since it was summer time.😂 The other thing which I missed there were fans. Like nowhere I could find them and sometimes during peak summer sleeping at night would be a bit tough. And the other thing was that you'll drink more beer than water in Austria 🤣. I also found the cost of food to be higher but I mostly cooked food by myself but still my grocery bills would be higher than expected and obviously the cost of living is very high there. But overall I really enjoyed my time in Austria and made alot of memories there.

Funny but I respect your opinion :) Well for my opinion after migrating in Vienna for more than a year now, I find it here awesome and not so expensive as you said.. For example the Public Transport, if you have a monthly card which cost 50Euro compared to Berlin that cost 81€, ( both are monthly cost) And for Student, there is a discount, you just have to show your Id card. For the food, its not that everything is expensive because you can buy Menu in some Restaurant for only 8€., and of course it is normal that some Menu in Restaurant are expensive, as it is everywhere. Regarding Pharmacy, there is a Pharmacy where is open 24hours., you just have to check it on Internet where is exactly located, and if you found yourself not in a good situation you can always call for help, they have emergency number. For the Shop/Malls, I find it better for the people who are working there, atlease they have time for themselves and for their Family. You should put yourself on that working people shoes so you can understand how hard is to work on weekend. German language is already given, since your in their country you have to learn and adjust. (Atlease basic such, buying, taking order etc... )Last about Study is difficult ; wow! That’s normal girl., all over the World Study is difficult. Thats all.,

Also the cost of using the public transport in Vienna is not expensive, it is actually sooooooo cheap. If you pay up front for a year (or you can pay up front monthly) using the transport will cost you only €1 per day and for this you can use the train, the bus or the tram. So transport costs in Vienna are ridiculously cheap.

Hello Dari! I love Austria with my whole heart, I fully respect and appreciate everyone around me, been living in Vienna since 19 years . I fully understand your points and I absolutely agree and respect that it is your personal experience. Nobody should feel offended or contradict you. There are always two sides and yes, Austria has them as well. Regarding transportation: I find it expensive! Not for me as I have a yearly card which costs 365Eur / year, not for a pupil, student or pensioner (it's truly amazing to be able to have such a good cost). But for a visitor from other cities and countries, it's expensive. Maybe to balance out the reductions that others (and myself) benefit. Comparing to Sofia, Bucharest, Budapest, Prague, Rome it is more expensive here. Comparing it to Amsterdam, Copenhagen or Berlin, it is cheaper. Parking on the street is Eur 2.20 / h. Yes, as you rightfully pointed, a meal in a good restaurant comes at min. 30 Euro / person. Natural food and produce from farmers' markets or bio supermarkets are pricey (quality costs). Shops close at 1 or 2pm on Saturdays (supermarkets at 6pm) and will not open until Monday. Grocery shops could be open on Sundays at the train or gas stations. During the weekdays, shops would close at 6pm (ex. my shop) / 7pm or latest at 8pm (for supermarkets). Someone mentioned Lugner City that is closing at 9pm but yeah... There are "night and weekend pharmacies" listed online but I remember the nights when my husband drove like crazy to that open pharmacy when I was in pain. And the prices are way higher than the "day prices". Ex. in Bucharest or Paris there are non-stop pharmacies and supermarkets that keep the same prices. In many countries, people love to speak English no matter how little they know. In Austria, many don't like to talk out of principle. Although the tourism field brings a huge income, I met many Austrians that told me that out of principle, they don't want to make foreigners the favor to speak English. Like people should learn German. But to many foreigners, English is their secondary or third language which means that they also make an effort. On the other hand, there are absolutely lovely elderly Austrians that simply don't know any foreign language and you see that in their eyes and your heart melts and you then make the best effort to make yourself understood. All your positives from your other video are so true: safety, education, cleanliness, architecture, arts, culture, cuisine, transport / social / political system, the wonderful people no matter their nationality! Thank you for your video beautiful lady. How ever I would like to make a comment on your arguments, I hope that's OK! :) 1. Austria is not more expensive than the average European developed city. If you compare it to Switzerland, Sweden, Norway and Holland and Germany then it's cheaper. But if you compare it with Hugary, Croatia, Slovenia and Romania then it's more expensive but life quality is also much much higher. 2. German language- yes it's not the easiest language and maybe not everyone speaks it specially the older generation but almost most of the younger generation understand and can communicate in English even in small towns. If you compare it to Russia, Romania and those eastern block countries then a much larger majority of Austrians speak English in comparison. 3. Everything closes early- that's probably true to Tirol and smaller cities but in Wien everything is open the same hrs as most European cities. Ofcourse you can't compare Wien with London and Moscow but for example of you compare to Stockholm, Berlin and Amsterdam is exactly same opening hrs. 4.Difficult Study- that's an entirely subjective matter depending on the person. Some people wouldn't agree with you. The education system is quiet similar to Hungary, Germany. I bet also in Russia it's not very easy to study and get into the more popular degrees at university. But that's also the same with France, UK and so on. 5. Austria Cold- that's not very accurate darling specially if compared to Russia. Compared to Sweden, Norway and Finland , Austria seems like the French Rivera in terms of temperature and hours of sunlight. Also, if you live the Alps in Tirol then it's natural that it would be cold. The summer's in Austria are warm and most years beautiful with 3 months of summer. In Scandinavia for instance the summers usually have alot of rain and it's barely 2 months of sunlight with usual temperatures of 20 degrees maximum, so once again in comparison the summer's are more like mediteranean countries. So, do a little bit more travelling and you will see how wonderful, warm, cheap and great Austria is as a country. 😊

There are so many other countries where the same facts applies to and even more. Though isn't maybe hard to resume a country in only few points? After all there is no such a thing as perfect place and we'll always favore our respective countries compared to others. Russia is beautiful and so amazing and Austria is also the same. There actually is a nightshift for pharmacies in every city, in Krems it´s 18:00-8:00 - nevertheless you have to google (or know) which pharmacy is on nightshift on which day. (In Vienna there is even a cheap delivery service for medications) The shop-situation is better in Vienna, but if it´s not too late you can still buy necessary things from a gasstation. - more expensive, but closing later Weather is shit - you´re absolutely right. XD Out of interest i´m watching this kind of videos and was laughing when i started into yours, because i´m living in Krems. ^^

Nice, I am from austria and I amdit I don`t understand your downsides. Yes it isn`t allways cheap but not everyone needs to speak english since it`s not our language. And not every shop needs to be 24/7 just cause you want it to be. And really, the weather ... even the romans know that it`s cold in austria ;-)

I remember i bought some day tickets online in Vienna and it was really cheap. I had like pdf ticket in my phone but nobody asked me. You can also by long distance tickets early so it will be much cheaper. I could travel 5 hours for just 30 euros. Most annoying thing of course that shops are closed on Sundays and very early. Local people can save tons of money but we tourists want to go shopping. Shopping is really relaxing, I can't live without it.

The pharmacies (Apotheke) run a rota for urgent prescriptions. Austrians generally do not speak English very well, or are unwilling to do so. For example, the Dutch, Belgians, Swedes, Norwegians, Danes and Finns all speak English at a MUCH higher level than Austrians (or Germans). This is in part due to the lack of being able to listen to British or American movies in English on TV. In the aforementioned countries this has been available to the people for decades, but Austria always finds a reason not to make the original soundtrack available to Austrian viewers. Secondly, the English language is taught falsely in schools : the kids are taught to pronounce an „a“ as an „e“, eg „fens“ (not fans), or „bed“ (not bad). It hits me like hAmmer every time I hear it..😳🤮😡

You right, most Germans and Austrians don't speak English. It's embarrassing. In the Netherlands, for example, at least 90% of Dutch speak fluently or at least very good English. The transportation is very very cheap. A year-card costs 365€ one euro a day and you can use the transportation in other places in austria too. A students card costs about 70€ and you also can use other transportations in other places.
