Hello, I'm Dari! I'm originally from Russia, but for the past few years, I've been a digital nomad, living in different countries. However, it was time for a change! I received a scholarship to study at an American university, and now I've moved to NYC. On my channel, I showcase the real-life experience of being a foreign student in the USA. I promise, it's going to be interesting!

Let's explore the world together? ✈️

I agree with Dari, the bad (movies, news, sports, etc) propagada from both side have done much damage to the other country's image. I really wish both countries could be the best friends. I am from Mexico a country that is agains any kind of war, and that we easily make friends with strange people, and see these two amazing countries always angry at each other is heartbreaking. I hope this this kind of videos make people from both countries close to each other regardless the politicians.

Dari, I have been following you for 2 years, i don't know if you remember my comment after what happened in Portugal. Dari, I am a retired US Army Special Forces veteran (Green Beret) 22 years. So lets talk about how to move on with your life so you can get back to doing what you love without being in fear, by taking charge of your environment. Start by taking trips closer to home where you feel more comfortable, for example SPB or Helsinki or Tallinn. Go with a friend or group and learn to have fun and relax again. OK now lets talk about practical tips for not only young ladies like yourself but anyone who travels. If you are by yourself dining out, ensure your drink is NEVER out of your sight. Best to order something closed (screw on lid ideal). If you go to the bathroom either finish the drink or take it with you. Never walk with headphones in! If you feel the hair on the back of your neck rising or something does not feel right, don't ignore it, thousands of years of natural selection has been infused in our senses which we to often ignore because we are in a "modern" society. Walking down a city street and somebody is following you, duck in a shop, if the shops are closed, stand in the middle of the street and stop a car! Put your cell phone to your ear even if you are not talking to someone. Do NOT confront! OK how to feel safe in your apartment. When you first arrive check for all exits also check all rooms and closets, look for hidden cameras, wondering about that bedside clock, put a towel over it or unplug it. Here are several things to have when you travel. For the door you can buy a "door handle alarm" (handle moves alarm goes off) all these things work for apartments, cruise lines, trains etc., "door sensor alarm" (this is peel and stick, alarm sticks to door, sensor to frame, open door and alarm goes off) "door stopper floor wedge security alarm" (this is my personal favorite, you wedge it under the bottom of the door and not only does it prevent the door from opening but also is an alarm). This does not work if your door opens out into the hallway! If you have this type of door, tie "parachute cord" yes you can buy it....tie it around handle and to a piece of furniture or similar. Carry at all times and at night next to your bed have a "tactical flashlight" this is a small very powerful light, useful when the electricity goes out, (think elevator) and also in the dark can temporarily blind an intruder. Buy a "smoke and carbon monoxide battery powered smoke detector" will prevent death from gas leak and most people who die in fires, die from smoke inhalation. All of these things I put in quotes you can find on a search engine or Amazon. The last thing I will say to you Dari is you now have more than likely experienced the one time in your life that something like this will happen, don't let this stop you from realizing your dreams, material things can be replaced, and now you have some of the knowledge to stay safe. De Oppresso Liber .......my girlfriend of 8 years Svetlana from SPB, is going to Kasistan at the end of Jul to attempt to get a US tourist visa. She has been here 3 times and I to SPB twice. I live in SW FL but would like to take her to visit NYC. You do a great job of searching places out. For instance I'm going to use your idea of the ballet, because she loves it and we went in SPB. Leaving out the obvious (statue of liberty etc) could you perhaps make a list of restaurants and places of interest that you liked in NYC. I'm sure others would like it to. Best regards, Dan and Svetlana

As an American, I always find it mildly disconcerting when I hear people from other countries describe their need for a passport *within* their home nation. I get that a passport can be used as a valid form of ID as needed. But in the US, many Americans live their entire lives without ever having a passport issued if they never travel abroad. A state-issued driver's license or other form of photo ID is usually enough to do anything official here.

Why didn’t you keep your apartment? You’re coming back in a couple of months it would have saved you a lot of stress. So what if it cost more money you’re young it’s not like you’re in your 60s. If I had my way I would not have let you give up that apartment. Btw I’m in Ohio it’s pouring down rain, thunder has been real loud I think God is out here bowling 😀

My wife needs to go to Moscow, yet since July 1st, we can not exchange the US dollar for the Russian Ruble because of the Russian counter-sanction against the confiscation of Russian assets in the EU. A credit card issued in Japan doesn't work because of the sanction, thus she needs to bring Chinese Yuan.

Too many moves in my life and the first few were stressful. Then I learned to buy a U-Haul truck and car carrier and even pay people to pack and unpack my stuff or to get a few friends to help pack. First to Warren, OH area of Ohio then to Canton area of Ohio then to Cleveland then to Milwaukee, WI then New Castle, PA and then back to Cleveland then to Ft Wayne, IN and then finally to the Marysville area of Ohio to get married. I have been here the longest of anywhere in my life because my wife won't leave her daughter. We did move to Oklahoma for about 3 years but then right back to our house in Ohio that we never sold. ( we rented it to our daughter. At the same time she needed to move out we just happened to need to move in) After so many moves you become numb to moving and leaving friends and acquantances. Not exactly the way to become in your emotions as it is worse in some ways than becoming emotional about a move. It does make you a resilant person who can make new friends easily and adapt to new places. Seemingly, moving from place to place has become part of modern life as life has become unstable. I am not the only person to move so many times in a life time , especially if a person is in a technical profession. Life is a journey, not a destination. What counts is how well you travel the journey, what kind of person you become & how you treat others. Always remember that on your death bed you are not going to bemoan the fact that you did not spend enough time at work to get a few extra dollars or the fact that you kept in contact with all the people you met along your journey. If anything you will regret not keeping in contact with the people you met along the way.

Hi Dasha, you have my thumbs up and here is my comment: You win the record for packing the most emotion into one vlog! Finishing things and moving out is super bittersweet and heart-rending and I can truly relate as I can still remember my last days in University. After four years, saying bye to your friends with whom you shared a special bond of common experiences was so enotional. You do such an amazing job communicating this. I'm so sorry you have to go through so much stress on so many levels and thank goodness for great friends by your side! Sorry your Amazon package for your friend was stolen, sorry you almost misplaced your passport with little time left before departure - that must have put you under so much duress. And I know it is extremely difficult to find housing in the heart of NYC! You have done an incredible job thus far and I hope and pray for your best in all things from here on out.

You just reminded me of the time when I had such good roommates and such a great apartment and the nicest people and we all had to move out. We didn't really but the oldest ones they wanted to live like grown ups for a change and stop living like students. I had three roommates the second year the first year I had four roommates. We had one bathroom. It was a long walk to get to the bus but it was a nice neighborhood which I probably never actually saw. And I learned that the streets and the sidewalks are sort of tilty. When the rain falls and it turns to ice on the sidewalk you just slide sideways and you try to hold on to the bushes so that you won't fall down. It's nice you have storage. My brother has storage. In addition to everything else that's in the house and in the front yard and on the back porch and in the living room and in the garage and in his bedroom. He also has storage. I think he has furniture. In his room he has a desk and a chair and a bed and there's a shelf but some of that stuff is mine or Dennis's and a filing cabinet which is also mine. Dennis got a lot of stuff in his room. We just pretend that it's New York and we build up. Shelves tall bookcases. Up. You reminded me of something else but I already forgot. Oh well. Dog food I'm sure it had something to do with the dog food. Oh I remember! Your dog is still alive! That's so good. One of my ducks died last October. She was nine. It's okay. The next day after we buried her, I heard little peeping noises and there were ducklings. I didn't expect ducklings. All of our eggs did not hatch. We threw away so many nests and then one duck in the corner had babies. So tiny and so cute. And at such an inconvenient time. But my brother helped a little. And Dennis was on vacation. But he got home the day after.

The last time I moved, I had lived in the apartment for 13 years. Everything before that was one year or two years the maximum was 2 years and 4 months and then all of a sudden 13 years. Do you know how much stuff I had? It took forever to pack it and it was a good thing I worked at a moving company. A friend of mine came over and helped me just throw away years and years worth of TV guides which somebody probably would have wanted if I had had time to put them on eBay or something but I didn't have time and I'm not good at selling things. Never know about prices. Anyway we just put them in trash bags and put them on the sidewalk because we could do that then and my salesman at the moving company he drove past my house and he saw all the bags and he said that it was like 500 lbs. It wasn't all TV guides. I'm sure there were other things. But I don't remember and I don't miss them. And now I have even more things because now I have been living in this house for 23 years!? Even the house I grew up in was only 16 years. We moved a lot when I was little and then my brother was born and lived in the same house until he was 16. And yes it's really sad to leave. It was sad to leave that place and I had to leave my friends Well whichever friends I had left. Maybe three or four. But there was a lot of stuff going on. It was a good idea mostly. And now I have a roommate - the guy who helped me throw out all the TV guides, and another roommate that's my brother, because his landlord sold his house and here we are again. Except that we are 30 or 40 years older than the last time. And I haven't finished watching the video. But you reminded me of the last time I moved. And not only that but I have stuff in boxes in the garage that haven't been taken out in 20 years and I have my silverware that I can't get at and I finally figured out the name of it and so my brother just went on eBay and bought some more. But there are some things in the garage that I would like to get out but I can't because all my boxes are in there and then all of his stuff is in front of it. And then there's bins in my bedroom that were supposed to be sorted out but they weren't. So many things that never got organized although when Dennis moved in he wanted to organize things but I was busy... And now it's hot and he's busy and we have his things my things and Jay's things and leftover furniture and things from my mother and somewhere - I think I finally found some of the things from my mother in a bin on the back porch so at least they're not soaked. My brother has so much junk. And I have less but still a lot and Dennis has less than that and he's more organized but I'm number two. And on top of all of my things I have dust. Hooray. Oh well. We have a nice little backyard and I think it's just the right size. It's not enormous it's not tiny and it's flat. Back home our yard was on a hill. And for the first several years that I lived here I didn't even go outside in the backyard but now I have ducks so I have to go outside. My father was always trying to get me to go outside. He should have gotten me some ducks. They're cheap when they're babies. And then you have to feed them. And clean up after them. They're so pretty. The first batch was more friendly but the second batch is more pretty. And Colette She likes to bite me. The other ones when I come out the door they just come up to me and they look at me like do you have food? I'm going to watch more video now
