Thanks for the video, it brings back some memories. I have done Trona Pinnacles trail a while ago, I liked it a lot. The landscape is surreal. This place is where they filmed the movie "Planet of the Apes" Right? After i watched the movie, i did some research and i checked this place out. it is so spectacular !!! I done many trails in So Cal & Nor Cal but a lot more in Colorado. But i decided to stop off-roading while i am still alive though. Thanks
SoCal definitely has some historical off roading and filming history for sure. Trona is pretty surreal landscape but Colorado has some awesome trails as well
Thinking about camping in the big bear area for the first time. Hoping for a yellow post site but if they are all taken can you pretty much camp anywhere off trails as long as there’s enough space to pull over and set up?
Yes...there's a few general rules like away from water not sure exactly the ft...also not to make another camping spot. generally it's recommend to camp on a spot already used but you can look up on the forest service website directly.
Thanks for show casing these spots in So Cal. I live in high desert so these places are not far from me to go exploring. I am outfitting my Nissan Titan to camping but it is not 4x4. Are some of places able to visit with 2wd? I tow my travel trailer with it but in near future getting a 4x4.
Most of those areas I did in 2wd but a lot of it is just common sense when we go overlanding in a 2wd. There's so much easy trail to overland in SoCal...honestly don't need a really expensive rig to go explore IMO
Hey man ! Awesome video I need to do some camping and this definitely convinced me to finally get it done haha what fire roads or easy scenic trails you recommend in big bear
It is nice to show the areas that everyone knows already. Can you be a bit more specific about specific trails and campgrounds, pleas? Because that is the most important part. Yes, I know Big Bear area, Lake Tahoe area, and many others. The specifics what counts. Othe than that, the video is total bullshit...
Total BS is kinda rude man...the video is about the area not specific trail or campground. The areas has so many trails and campground it will takes so much time to name everyone of them.
Thank you...yes, I have the skyline dr video on my channel. Ill give you exactly what to expect on it. Honestly...it's a trail that most vehicle can do.
Feeling inspired to get a truck and get in the dirt! Been looking for some cheaper options. Seems to me like Jeeps and Toyotas are expensive and a bit out of my budget. Thinking about other opetions. Anyone out there have suggestions for something affordable that I can wheel that's reliable for the really easy trails?
I haven't seen any infos on if you can camp on the trail. The one time I did go on that trail, I didn't see any sign of disperse camping, but I didn't research whether it's ok or not. I know theres BLM towards the north of that trail that maybe you can camp on.
Great looking sites - hope to visit them all. Would have been nice for a time or distance reference for the locations you cover; something like, "45 mines northeast of LA"
@@Michael_Tran I have been to most of the places you talk about in this video but without a 4WD, I didn’t see what your guys enjoyed in the backroads. I want so bad to trade in my car for an used Jeep Wrangler, I’m drooling over the trips your guys had made lol
The only thing I don't like about all these "free" camping sites is that they are sometimes TOO desolate, especially as a female solo traveler & also, mostly dirt roads. I'm planning on car camping and I'm driving just a regular car, heck, I went to a lake recently and almost got stuck in some sand! It wasn't even muddy!
Yea...these spots are definitely meant for overlanding more than car camping. When im with my wife by ourselves we usually try to stay closer to established campground as it has more amenities
