Like the homemade upgrade on the quick release blade knob. Very unique......or it was until now!

Hi, hope it proves useful. The metal finish on the standard Hegner quick release used to start tearing at our hands if we were doing long sessions of scroll sawing. It's also too small for our hands. We had a think and after a few failed designs we came up with the solution you see in our videos. Hope it works well for you. Thanks for getting in touch and supporting our RU-vid channel. All the best from us all here at The Lovespoon Workshop. 👍👍

@@DailovespoonsThomas All makes perfect sense. I notice on Scrimpers channel he has adapted the Hegner knurled knob by tapping a short lever into the edge of the knob. Each to their own and I expect there are many a variation throughout the scrolling world.

We tried a similar method years ago but we never got it to work as we hoped. I definitely think Hegner could develop a better design for their quick release clamp. It does the job but the metal finish used to rip our hands apart. It probably doesn't go well with the grip we use for woodcarving either.👍👍

Brilliant, always great to meet fellow wood workers. They have put us in another lockdown at the moment but normally our workshop is open to all. Always great to meet fellow wood carvers and see the work others do. We mainly concentrate on the Welsh lovespoon tradition but live making all sorts of things in wood. Great to hear from you, thanks again, all the best from us all here at The Lovespoon Workshop. 👍👍

Thanks you guys are awesome. Can you please tell me the best quality at the cheapest price for carving chisels. Thanks Cindy
@DailovespoonsThomas
@DailovespoonsThomas 2 года назад
Hi Cindy, Great to hear from you and thank you for the positive feedback. When it comes to wood carving chisels and gouges there is a degree of you get what you pay for. However our own preference is for vintage wood carving chisels and gouges. We often find these by searching on Ebay for 'vintage wood carving chisels'. Some of the names that are worth looking out for include Herring Bros and anything by the Addis family. If you can get London steel they are top quality. It can be a bit hit and miss searching for vintage wood carving chisels so we also recommend chisels and gouges made by Ashley Iles, Robert Sorby and Henry Taylor. A set of six should be great to get started and you can add to them as you go along. Let us know if you have any follow up questions. Thanks again for getting in touch and supporting our RU-vid channel. All the best from us all here at The Lovespoon Workshop. 👍👍

Hi excellent video which encourages newbies in scroll sawing to be more adventurous ie myself ( owned one for 4 days now ). I have a Scheppach saw. Would your preferred choice of Niqua number 9 reverse tooth blade be compatible with my saw? Appreciate any advice..Thanks
@DailovespoonsThomas
@DailovespoonsThomas 3 года назад
Hi Patrick, Great to hear from you and glad to hear the video was useful. Just looked at the specs on your machine and the blades should be fine because it takes blades 133mm in length and the Niqua blades are 130mm long. I would have a check with the manufacturer to be sure though. Thank you for getting in touch and supporting our RU-vid channel. Hope you enjoy a happy and healthy Christmas and New Year. Hi, great to hear from you. No problem at all. We use a hegner multicut 2s scroll saw and the blade is a Niqua reverse tooth no. 9. Great combination for the scroll saw projects that we do. Thanks for getting in touch and supporting our RU-vid channel. All the best from us all here at The Lovespoon Workshop. 👍👍

Hey bro love your work, What about a home made scroll saw? Is it possible to have accurate cuts like a regular scroll saw machine does?
@DailovespoonsThomas
@DailovespoonsThomas 3 года назад
Hi great to hear from you and thanks for the positive feedback. Never worked with a home made scroll saw myself. It would certainly take some impressive engineering to come close to the quality of cut you get from a Hegner scroll saw. Being honest it would take some convincing for me to use anything other than a Hegner scroll saw. I did see a gentleman using an old fret saw with a foot pedal and the skill and control he had with it was amazing but it would take time to develop that type of skill. On the plus side he probably has a leg as strong as a donkeys kick. Great to hear from you, thanks again. All the best from us all here at The Lovespoon Workshop. 👍👍

What blade are you using there
@DailovespoonsThomas
@DailovespoonsThomas 3 года назад
Hi, great to hear from you. I use a Niqua no 9 reverse tooth blade. Tried others like Pegas etc but always come back to the same blade. For me it leaves the best finish and requires less finishing by hand after. Thank you for getting in touch, great to hear from you. All the best from us all here at The Lovespoon Workshop. 👍👍
