On Friday I had a date night with my boyfriend and usually, I'd just reach out for my jeans and a nicer top, but because I've been learning so much from you, I put a dress on instead. And it was a maybe dress, but I'm so glad I kept it. My boyfriend was so excited to see me wearing that dress and he was like, 'Well since you look so gorgeous I have to up my game. We're going somewhere new for dinner. It's a surprise.' We had the most amazing night. And it's thanks to something simple as me wearing a dress I felt good in without buying anything new. I shopped my own closet. Alyssa, what you do makes a massive difference. Never forget that x

Great video! I used Your advice To help put together my outfit from my son's graduation. I didn't want to buy something or wear something too formal, and wanted to be modest, so I chose a navy floral high neck dress from my closet. I paired it with a dark navy classic denim jacket and cuffed the sleeves like you teach us. Since it was knee length I put on a pair of dark capri leggings and that helped with the proportions. I wore a nude pointed toe flat that elongated my legs since I'm short. Just last week I had found a matching nude bag that I adore. Then I wore large silver hoops as my jewelry. It was all just perfect together. I felt so confident and relaxed at the graduation and not self conscious. I couldn't believe how much it made a difference feeling so put together and appropriate for the occasion. I knew you would be pleased that I had shopped my closet and used my creativity. Thanks for what you have been teaching us!

Oh I completely LOVE the tan silk skirt and black tank top look!!! So great and that scarf just added the right note! Great trick with the tank. Makes me think about seeing style proportions to lengthen a short waisted person vs. a long waisted person. A side by side would be GREAT!!!. I want to lengthen my neck to waist proportion. Tganks!!

I have totally upped my summer game thanks to you, Alyssa! Today I felt fabulous in a white pleated skirt with a fitted navy and white Breton striped tee. Thanks to you, I knew this would work. I added red earrings and shoes and tied a navy scarf to my bag, grabbed a hat and sunnies and felt like a million bucks! The skirt was gifted from my daughter who didn’t wear it, and the navy and white bag I got on eBay last summer. The hat was last summer’s find. I’m having a blast and feeling amazing! THANK YOU! I’ve learned so much from how you keep combining in different ways!

My go-to outfit for summer is a skirt/shirt or dress/ shirtdress, with earrings and a wedge heel or printed shoe or sandal. Normally I’m always wearing a scarf of some kind but unless it’s tied wrong head, it’s a bit too hot for scarves here (100*+). But normally I have a scarf 🧣 , earrings & lip 💄, and sandals 👡. I usually color coordinate my earrings to my scarf!

Love all the outfits! just some comments that popped in my head while watching: - cuffing pants in summer is a great way to keep the length so you can wear them both ways! - I would wear the scarf on my wrist for the silk skirt/black tank as it is too hot to wear the scarf around your neck in summer. - you don't need hats in different colors: just change the ribbon on the hat to the colour of your outfit: use a ribbon, a scarf or just a piece of fabric...

Great outfits! Great tips! Thanks so much Alyssa, you’ve given me some new inspiration 😄 Since menopause hit a cpl years ago, I find it so hard to add that third layer as I used to do. I discovered that a hat does wonders! I also used to think I didn’t suit hats, but there really is one for everyone, fedora’s definitely work for me and it elevates a simple summer outfit no end!

Me, too. I’m 11 years post-menopause and I still get hot flashes. Oops, I hope that didn’t depress you! They are a lot shorter and less frequent now, about 2-3 per day, lasting under 5 minutes. Mine were so bad previously, it was just wave after wave. Viscose fabrics help, they’re the coolest and most breathable.

Wonderful ideas. I think an outfit formula is great particularly in the summer. You want guaranteed cute cool and comfortable outfits. I am still in the process of planning summer outfits. I live in Southern California and it can get pretty hot in August and September sometimes all the way through October. After 90 degrees I figure no matter what I wear I am going to sweat. So I still wear what I like.

Love this! Now I have all kinds of ideas. Oh and thank you for doing the dress since I wear mostly dresses and skirts. The dress and the 3rd option...like that idea. Now, I would have wanted to see you in the black tee and the denim skirt with the black strappy flat sandals. I also would have wanted to see you in the Tensile pants and the white tank and the 3rd piece be the chambray long sleeve button up with the sleeves rolled up. Love the Tencel pants, including the length...a very laid-back/easy look. They look great cuffed, too. I wouldn't shorten them because you can always cuff them. The other looks were really nice, too. Nothing crazy...just chic and cool.

I loved this and the bonus was getting a good look at those skirt hangers! The design is kind of genius with that straight bar style. (I wrestle with my triangular ones always catching on adjacent hangers). I won’t rush to throw my old ones out and replace them but definitely adding to my list for when I do need more.

I always wear denim with Black, thanks for showing the combo. I have a black lace pencil knee length skirt, that I love wearing my denim shirt and concho belt with, I get compliments all day long. Great formulas. One I also use a lot is to pick two solid colored items, then add a print, mostly classic ones, that has both colors in it. Maybe not very original, but it works well for me.

I really liked the black tank and satin skirt. Such an easy look for all of us to pull off. Btw I purchased a white button down shirt from Power of My People, a company who has sponsored you, and I absolutely love it! The quality is amazing, and the fabric very substantial so the collar doesn't sag or flatten. Beautiful detail on the shirt. I would highly recommend!

I love all these formulas!!!! Why are you afraid of sandals? Dirt? Falling? I can’t wear sandals because I have to wear a lift in my shoe for leg length discrepancy.... I would love to see a video on summer accessories (shoes, hats, sunglasses, et cetera)! Hint, hint!!!

Longer trousers are more in-style right now. I’m keeping my many ankle-lengths, but am enjoying the long ones, too. They, with a pair of 2” wedges or heels, make me look taller. Narrow legs are versatile because they can be rolled up, but I find I often have to hem the wider leg trousers, because otherwise they stick between my heel and the shoe.

I have a weird request….. can you make a video that suggests creative work environment attire that’s a business-street wear look? I want it to exist, but I can’t find much on Pinterest! 😊❤️❤️ Some of my coworkers wear graphic tees, athletic shoes with blazers… but I want to pull this off as a woman and look badazzzzz. 😁😁😁

I’m tall and hate that they are making pant to the petite length. I can always roll them up but I think feet look big with short pants. I do the short jeans in summer and cuff them but for winter, I have shoe issues unless I can wear combat or tall boots. I like to have the choice. I guess I will shop my long jean/pants closet until short goes out of style. Love your lesson today!

I have a long body and short legs, so cropped trousers ( and ankle strap shoes) make them look even shorter. I like my trousers to hit the heel, not graze the ankle. Basically I don’t do cropped.
