I would actually advise using an old toothbrush for stars. just scrub it on some watery paint ( I'm using acrylic with loads of water bc that's usually a bit brighter than aquarelles) and flick that with my thumb, ur thumb WILL end up white but its fun and controllable
I like using sponges for galaxy if I'm using acrylics. They turn out really nice and blend well! I really really like the oxide ink! Pretty cool! Also my 6 year old would love the marker one! What a great idea! Thank you for your tutorial!
I just found your channel. I'm an artist full time, and your ideas and techniques are great, fun and work well. I work in acrylics & resin so I have made galaxies in both mediums. I liked the acrylics galaxy best for the brightness of the colors. although all were really good. Love all your hints❤️
I love these. Girl you are too hard on yourself. These are all beautiful. And galaxies are messy, right? I made a galaxy in my coloring book using neo color 2s and a water brush. I will be making more galaxies. Thank you for your video.
I like them all! I guess the marker ink smooshing would be my fav. I even like Pluto! Especially after you blotted it, it looks like a distant planet. Great job!
I like them all,JD, but I like the marker one the best, even though it is messy! Great tutorial, was surprised about the black ink! Thought it was all blues and purples! Thanks!
I love them all...abstract is best...and “Pluto” could also be a larger star in the scene so it works just fine. I actually like different sizes of splatters. 😉
Hi JD, You’ve been missed! I hope you are doing ok and your family too. I’m watching past videos and even though I’ve seen them before, I enjoy them so much. I am inspired by you and you make me laugh with your real life humor. Thank you 😊
All the videos I have seen about galaxy backgrounds say "IT is a hot mess before it just comes together". I like all your backgrounds. What pulls it together is putting on the stars. I love your videos. Just subscribed. :D
After adding the white paint I think they actually all have something. Personally, I like the least with acrylic paint. I would have darkened the one with the distress ink myself. All in all, all 5 can be used well in a project. Thank you for the tips and colors you use.
JD, You made my day!! I am currently sitting here watching my son in his bath. With all this confinment going on for over a month now i have been testing things. Your work is wayyyy more succesful than mine anyways 😂 and your pluto Blob as well as cutting down to size so no one know's unless we have been watching Yeah!! Im in a laughing fit!! Thank you. Probably the lack of sleep making it so but 🤷 Thanks
I thought the acrylic, distress ink (not the oxide), and the smooshing technique turned out the best! Nicely done! :) And don't be too hard on yourself. The biggest thing, at least you are trying!! I'm frozen in fear to start. Hate messing up. I'm too much of a perfectionist.
I liked all of the techniques but thought the acrylic paint turned out the best as I think the black card stock helped. I have paint and distress ink and will definitely use these techniques.
Hmm thanks for this video loved it and got a lot out of it I like them all .except the first one, but I think I'd go for the ink smooshing (just for the fun but would wear gloves) and the distress oxide blending. Thanks JD
