Scroll Rack + Land Tax is definitely my absolute favorite draw engine in mono-white, I just wish that Scroll Rack would get another reprint so it isn't bonkers expensive

It makes me really happy whenever I see someone talking about how awesome Emeria Shepherd is. I have already won games where I blowed the entire board after floating tons of mana with Nykthos, played the Shepherd, played a Plains, brought Sun Titan back, brought Burnished Hart back, sacrificed it to bring 2 more Plains into play and so on. One of the best White creatures ever made.

I quite like the life gain synergies that monowhite can have. Like, for example, how Ajani's Pridemate can hey really big in monowhite, with many instants of life gain. Or cards that gain benefits from a high life total, like Angel of Vitalitt or Serra's Ascendant. They can normally be really big creatures at the start of a commander game, but keeping that life up is the key to make them threats during it's full duration.

Thanks for going back to mention Stoneforge mystic. I appreciated seeing it in your power up your white. This video was almost a deck tech on my mono white edh deck. Endless horizon is amazing, you just have to only take out like 6-8 lands under it instead of all of them lol

Fundamentally mono white has a small number of both good ramp and good draw (Mangara and Smothering Tithes are good, but I want MORE). I was struggling with my Djeru Superfriends for speed that matched my group. For ramp as you said in mono white most of the time it is for parity rather than getting ahead and you'll need to start looking into colorless options (Empowered Autogenerator is cheeky if you ramp it out early, but alas it is 4cmc). Mono color benefits quite a lot from the obvious but not mentioned Medallion cycle (Pearl for white) for the spell discount. Unmentioned in the video is the Mystery Booster reprint Weathered Wayfarer which pulls ANY land card and is 1cmc. Bonder's Ornament can pull double duty as a sub 4cmc rock and mana sinking card draw (do this at end step prior to yours). I don't treat Endless Horizons as a consistent card advantage engine past maybe 2 Plains type cards; in late game with mana flooding, I use it to strip out all (or most if you play against mass land hate) Plains, sorta like a white Mana Severance or Abundance for non-lands. As a mono color deck you can easily work in utility lands. For ramp Terrain Generator works amazingly with Land Tax, Gift of Estates, and other basic Plains tutors (just don't have the most or be tied for lands). Adding in Arch of Orazca and Sea Gate Wreckage as expensive mana-wise card draw is at minimal opportunity cost of replacing 2 basic Plains. The other bonder card, Bonders' Conclave, can be good as well if you are playing bigger creatures to fulfill the card draw requirement. Dust Bowl is an interesting land hate card with potential to create synergies with Crucible of Worlds, Flagstones of Trokair, and beneficial landfall effects. Sometimes games will get grindy and win cons need to be added. We all know about Approach of the Second Sun, but combos can be had with Basri's Lieutenant (which I think is a great card as standalone), Cathars' Crusade, and a no-additional-cost sac outlet that starts with another creature on board for Lieutenant to target or has +1/+1 counter on it already. Without a specified effect on the sac outlet, this is a combo that is infinite death and etb triggers from sacking the knight token from Basri's Lieutenant's effect. Add the mana altars for mana, Altar of Dementia for mill, Martyr's Curse for no damage, Spawning Pit for charge counters, Blasting Station for damage (I haven't found anything for draw). Mono white can be consistent, but we need more (not just one amazing card, but several for redundancy) fast and efficient options to deal with ramp and draw. Awesome video! One nice trick especially Paired with emeria Sheperd is using your path to exile on one of your tokens to either ramp in the early game (for 1 Mana!) or get nice triggers with the shepherd :)

Sigarda's Aid is one of the strongest enchantments for any equipment or aura heavy deck, and it only costs one mana.

Funny part is, I've been playing nearly all these cards for years. I love the color White in MTG.

Mono White has always been my favorite. My roots are way back in the 90s as a blue-white control player so I have a love for Serra Angel, Swords to Plowshares, Disenchant, Land Tax, Spirit Link. A lot of the cards from back in the day don't hold up anymore, but I still love white.

Prof rockin the mono white wardrobe is a solid summer look

"the professor tells us about his awesome mono-white deck". For real though, great stuff. I'm just getting around to tweaking my new jeskai build, and I'm definitely going to use some of the ideas/synergies/combos you mentioned.

I had an Avacyn, Angel of Hope Deck once with many includes from this list and i did pretty good, until i got archenemy every time i pulled out this Deck. Avacyn with Stuff like Worldslayer is a hugh salt shaker ^^'

I've been working hard on balancing my jeskai deck, which is utilizes white spells that require to be behind on lands to gain card advantage. Oath of lieges, tithe, Verge rangers balanced with kuroo, kjlordon outpost, bounce and lotus lands and even strip mine and borderpost. It's a lot of fun and can work well in the development turns. It's always been there and think this year has reached a threshold to make a viable land management strategy

White also has access to the scroll rack/land tax combo. You need to make sure that you stay slightly behind on land count, then use the ability to grab 3 lands. Use scroll rack to grab three cards off the top of your deck and drop the lands back on top. Next turn you’ll go to grab 3 more lands, but then shuffle your deck because of the search. Drop all lands replace them with other cards from your deck. You can pretty consistently get 3-4 cards each turn.

One of my favorite decks is Darien, King of Kjeldor. Throw Blasting Station and Ancient Tomb in there for a lot of fun with tokens.

A small but lovely pairing i have in my selesnya deck. Trostani and angelic accord. Establish a little life gain, make an angel and every turn thereafter Using populate to make another angel, gain four life, and end of turn get another angel from the life gain. Worship and Near Death Experience are also lovely emergency buttons if things start to look south.

If you are going for Smothering tithe and anointed procession another amazing psuedo ramp card that you can use with it is inspiring statuary. For those not in the know Inspiring statuary gives Non-artifact spells you cast improvise which lets treasures pay for generic mana without being sacrificed. I am running a deck I call The Dragons Horde which is 5 color dragon tribal with treasure generators like smothering tithe, dockside extortionist and revel in riches. Would it be more consistent with a more traditional ramp package especially when I have access to green? Yes, but it wouldn't be as thematic and cool. Everyone uses cultivate and kodamas reach, they may have more consistent mana especially early but are they RICH?

tollarian community college, just to let you know that I love your content and want you to keep going. Even me being a competitive modern player, I love packs and I love seeing packs get opened by you. The booster box games are my favourite. Here where I live, we don't have jump start. If you can do another give away for jump start, that would be great because I really want to have a chance to crack jump start packs.(I missed the last giveaway). i made a Cat equipment tribal with Kemba Kha Regent and i also used most of the artifacts and cards mentioned here. IT WAS THE BOMB, really strong for mono white, fun to play and i didnt have any trouble keeping up with other strong decks.

I love running a Sevinne's/Sun Ttian board. You can do so much cheap CMC recursion there. You can run those effects for ramp or recovery.

My pet card for white is Oust. Sometimes cheap removal that tucks a creature is good. And the artwork is cool.

yeah i was forever sold on Marhsal's Anthem when while facing a deck with Sword of Mind and Body in play and already 20 cards in my yard, i got out Avacyn angel of Hope and Mirror Entity in play while i already had a Plague Myr out, mostly as ramp in a God-Eternal Oketra deck.

Yeeesss More love for Prying Blade! Not an Amazing card but for sure an unsung budget hero. That and Explorer's scope. Both can easily be upgraded but are wonderful ways to help a deck get started especially if you will be attacking guaranteed. And with Scope if you can look at the top of your deck you can know the right time to attack.

Hello Professor, My tip for mono-white would be the flagbearer cards - which do a great job of siphoning away removal / aetherflux reservoir blasts - and also playing stuffy doll and enchanting it with "guilty conscience" for a thoroughly amusing combo. Also some of the best politics cards are white. Thanks as ever for the videos. David in Shanghai

3:35 You can also use a bounceland (like the colorless one from CL) to bounce the MDFCs from Zendikar Rising. Card advantage!

The new Mangara, the Diplomat is a decent blocker for Lifegain strategies and helps with situational card draw. Also fantastic bait for a single target removal, especially if you have a Brought Back cantrip waiting in your hand.

I did not even consider Skullclamp. Been trying to get card draw into my God-Eternal Oketra deck and thought that skullclamp would be wasted since im producing 4/4 zombies. But i also do run Oketra's monument so i might as well include it. Thanks for the reminder prof.

I love me some "Lifegain Begets Power" decks with cards like Sunbound and Light of Promise beefing up ya bois. Those aren't the only cards that care about lifegain, but they're among my favorites because unlike staples like Ajani Pridemate, you get counters for EACH AND EVERY POINT OF LIFE YOU GAIN. Good stuff.

I didn't know Kristen Gregory was faculty. As a fellow Boros fan, I always read her on Hipsters of the Coast.

One of my favorite cards for Mono White is Grand Abolisher. It is under 3 CMC for Sun Titan, 2 power for Reveillark and Mentor of the Meek, it's a solid piece to protect your turn since the deck typically cannot afford the tempo loss of having a 4 or 5 CMC spell be countered by Swan Song and company. Pairing it with other excellent hate pieces (Aven Mindcensor and such) makes the classic white weenie a real contender for EDH

My mono white Heliod(new) deck is pretty dope. It does really well at maintaining board presence, attrition, and ramp. It hasn't been beaten in my play group as of yet. Waiting to congratulate the player who beats it in my group:)

My deck that does this isn't mono-white, but the combo could be: Sun Titan plus flicker effects and a fetch in the GY (such as Evolving Wilds) lets you grab as many basics/fetchable lands as you have flicker effects. Conjurer's Closet lets you get a free one every turn.

Life gain is my favorite. I like to use cards like Rhox Faithmender and flyers equipped with Celestial Mantle to gain a ton of life and use Ajani Caller of the Pride’s ultimate to create 2/2 cats to end games.

I bought a Nahiri Commander deck a while ago, most of these cards are in there btw. I wanted to make a lifegain and equipment themed deck. Turns out, white is pretty good when you invest some money into it. I think it's one of my best decks!

Great tips and tactics. The only problem with gaining life is that you easily become the main target for your opponents, buying someone else time to gather combo pieces and sweep up a win. Other than that these were great cards all together. A tactic I miss in this video is mono-white blink. It makes for some strong ETB advantages and also protects your non-token creatures.

Not a lot of people play a lot of white creatures) Spear of Heliod (anthem + if you have 3 spare mana, nobody wants to hit you with anything big/important) Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx (Mono white has a LOT of white devotion, so take the exponential mana. Also 1 drops become free) Brave the Elements (1 mana instant all your stuff gets protection. Best protection spell for mono white hands down) There's many more I could put if people want, but I'll stop there for now. These are all just from my personal experience with the cards I own. Feel free to suggest anything interesting below! :D

With all the ways to get extra lands into your hand in white, Terrain Generator is a great mono white land as well.

Magus of the balance/restore balance and teferi'd protection. Very powerful board wipe combo.

For effects like Tithe which checks your land count you must play fetchlands, even when being mono white. You can activate the fetch land, then respond with Tithe while being down one land temporary. ;)

As somebody with 3 Boros commander decks, I know the feel of the uphill battle pretty strongly. This is still good timing, though, as I've been pondering a God-Eternal Oketra deck. I don't have a mono white yet, but I do have some good synergy in my Jor-Kadeen, with Sunforger, Mistveil Plains, and a few tutorable instants for repeatable effects. Unbreakable Formation, Path to Exile, etc.

Emeria, the Sky Ruin is THE reason to play mono white. Also worth knowing about is Ranger of Eos and Ranger-Captain of Eos, and their ability to pull up white's incredible one drops such as Mother of Runes, Giver of Runes, Weathered Wayfarer, Serra Ascendant and so on.

My favorite EDH deck is lin sivvi. And it's main win con is aetherflux reservoir or test of endurance.

My own mono white deck is helmed by Eight and a half tails, he's great both as a commander and in the ninety nine... He's basically a mono white 3cmc counterspell on a body, also makes your creatures into immovable objects that only board wipes can clear.
