Hi Chad at 9:20 you mention about perhaps thinking in terms of the key centre (Bb). I can see how thinking RNA on a chord by chord basis would help in understanding a transcription and 'initially' help to play that language through all the keys but looking at the long term goal of improvising - would you say that it would be best to think numbers of just the key centre when working on ii-v-i language, especially short 2-5s.

I'm not sure if you are reading this. However, this is a great video. I'm "Joe", I started as a clarinet player in high school and played a lot, for the most Dixieland and swing jazz. After a 30 years break, I started again some years ago. Then i also bought myself a tenor saxophone. I'm paying a little here and there, but I'm a terrible music reader, I always rely on my ear. I'm happy with my tone, but technically i'm not that good. I'm lucky as I'm able to play with a professional piano player and bass player. So how to proceed?
