Tony! Thank you so much for featuring our guitars in the video, it is honor. And also thank you for your sweet words! It is always pleasure to talk and work with you! 💛💛💛 Take care, Klára
Hi Tony! Thanx for sharing the love. It was a surprise and a thrill. You nailed it. While Andy is certainly a high-profile dude.... over the decades I have built real friendships with many of the folks who choose to play my guitars. Very grateful for all and I cherish every moment.
Glad to see Furch getting the attention they deserve! I have a G22CR-C (Yellow equivalent) I bought in 2013 that I will never sell. One of the best guitars I've ever owned or heard- Tony is right about the cedar/rosewood combo. I also bought a G22ASM-C (adirondack/mahogany) a few years ago that I ended up giving to my daughter- also a lovely guitar. I just purchased a Vintage 3 D-SR that blows me away- it really is an absolute cannon and the finish and workmanship is perfect. Huge Furch fan here!
I love my Furch Little Jane special model with Alpine Spruce and Cocobolo back and sides. She goes camping with me, has a big sound in a package that doesn’t take up too much space in the camper. Great for picking songs around the campfire.
Tony, thank you a lot for presenting your favourite Furch guitars. Today I played on a Furch Violet, and I was surprised a lot- it sounds incredible, at low price.
I recently purchased a Yellow series OMC Cedar Rosewood like your #2. She sings....and after playing, I admire the craftsmanship, details and beauty. I would definitely purchase another....maybe from their vintage series.
My family and I went to Big Sky and HAD to stop into the Music Villa in Bozeman, MT. Needless to say, I wish we had a store like this in Knoxville, TN. The staff there are incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. I WILL buy my next guitar from them. I’m allowed to buy one every 2 years… (wife’s rule lol) and 2023 is almost here!!! Thank you in advance music villa!! Furch is a definite contender! Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays!
Furch knows tone! I have a dread with sitka and walnut that rings on, and on.... Their 2 7/32" saddle spacing is my favorite! Along with the their rounder than Martin fretboard radius with nice frets taboot! The 25.6" longer scale is a welcome treat for fingering voicing and variable genres.
I have a Furch grand nylon GNc 2 CW and love it! I have played the yellow series with cedar and rosewood but it was a grand auditorium shape and the sound was amazing with incredible bass response. Great guitars!
I happened to discover a small local shop here in the mountains of north Georgia that is a Furch dealer so being the guitar geek I am I had to check them out. I ended up coming home with a Vintage 2 OM SR. I was smitten the moment I played the first chord.
Great review of the Furch guitars Tony. I've come to love 00 size guitars over the years and own a Furch Yellow 00M-SR as well as a Collings 001G-SB Love them both!
Hi, I like your review on Furch guitars. I saw the Furch around 2005 the first time and liked the look and sound. Now I have four of them, 25-SR(red series), OOM-1 SR(vintage-1), baritone 23-SR(yellow series) and recently Blue CM 12. Four very different guitars but I like the 25-SR the most.
Hi Tony long time listener first time comment. Just watched a Billy Strings doco Me and my Dad. Thought you might look it up it’s amazing. Love your work keep it up. From New Zealand.
Im interested in Furch, particularly what they call thier 'Rainbow' series, which is basically whatever anyone wants it to be. I would love to hear what Mahogony back, Rosewood sides, Cedar top, Mahogony neck, Rosewood fingerboard would look like and sound like in a Grand Auditorium body and modern slim neck.
have had a furch g20 cmc since 2017. had an lr bags anthem in it but changed to a k and k mini cuz disliked changing batteries. anyway the guitar is very nice. plugged into a good pedal board and mesa boogie amp its very very very nice. easy to play low action finger-style, claw hammer, strumming…all good.
I own a Little Jane. Sounds amazing! 12" wide - what!? But, it sounds incredible. I own the nice Martins (3-10k), an amazing Olson, high end Lowden, Larrivee... but the Little Jane is seriously my daily go to. Who knew a tiny 12x17.5 body could put out this sound! Oh, the backpack case sucks. It will crack if you don't get a Hardcase.
@@danherrick5785 believe it or not - yes. It has great tone fingerstyle and strumming. It's just not as loud. If you like to tap/drum on the top - it does nothing. That's the only drawback so far. Oh, the harmonics are week comparitavely.
@@blessedwithchallenges9917 So, let me get this straight. If someone was in the process of selecting a parlor sized guitar - this would fit the bill. (With the added fuctionality of breaking down?)
@@danherrick5785 yes. I have numerous parlors. This is better thsn all of them. Including Martin's Dread Junior, Taylor's Big Baby, Journey's Overhead, and 1920's Martin 2-17, and various 1800's and early 1900's Ditsons and Bay States, Gibson's L1. It is by far the best in tone and full size "feel" than all of those. Even the CE0-7, which i had high hopes for. You would think I'm a Furch salesman or something. This is my only Furch. I've always been a Martin guy - and still am... i haven't had or tried Lowden's Wee One. I wish i could...but the Lowden sound and chunky feel haven't met my style of quality, even on high end models. Yet, the Wee One has great reviews, so I'm still interested. But this Furch Little Jane has been a huge blessing. I just spent most of the day playing at an outdoor coffee shop in Guatape, Colombia. People thanked me and appreciated my music. Of course that's nice. I even got free parking because the owner liked it so much. All of it on this little Furch. And mine had a huge crack down the side that i had cleated - probably 10 inches. So it's not even in perfect shape. Oh, it took me a bit to get familiar with the tuners (out of tune every couple songs!). Then I realized i could tighten them with a little screwdriver and now it stays in tune all week - huge relief. And the strings at the bridge are sort of installed like a classical guitar - which, when taken apart is sometimes annoying to keep in (you'd have to just do it do understand). I avoid taking it down because of that annoyance. Ok, sorry for the long winded response, but if you're at all like mw and other guitar freaks i know, all of this could be valuable info. you could appreciate.
@@blessedwithchallenges9917 You sound just like me when I talk about the Blue Cedar/Mahogany Furch I have. This thing is better than guitars 3 to 4 times the price. It has what every guitar player wants and needs. I have wondered if a breakdown version could even compete with it. Well, it sounds like it does. Peter Furch was at the NAMM show last year and during interviews he spent most of his time showing and talking about the Little Jane. Your comments show me why he spent so much time talking about it. Thanks.
Also one of my Furchs is maple body, stellar, clear ringing, spruce top GA. Maple's not in the current line (it would make it to this video if it was, trust me) unless you order it custom made.. Everybody NEEDS at least one maple instrument! It's been the go to wood for many centuries. It's sustainable, traditional, gorgeous looking, clean sounding thru PA. Bring maple back! Maple forever!
You know I've never heard you speak about the Martin D15M. Any thoughts? It's my favorite Dreadnought by far. I've been sneaking in to play them at Guitar Center for 20 years. Haven't had the cash to get one.
Mahogany is the most supple of tonewoods, and this dread brings it all out. Maybe you could start a go-fund-me account - and videotape everytime you go in to play it. Then go on reverb for a used one for half price of new?
I have a Sigma DM-3M mahogany dreadnaught from about 1983. Stunningly good tone. Even with a laminate top it sounds better than many much more expensive solid guitars. And the laminate top has stood up well against the climate extremes of Alaska and Hawaii.
@@biffgordon8468 I have a solid all-mahogany dreadnought circa about 1988 made in Korea. I queried both the new Sigma in Germany with a photo and also Martin & Co.. Sigma said they had gotten no records and Martin said they did not take any of the records from overseas. Apparently they don't even have a catalog for Sigma guitars.
I bought the Furch Blue Deluxe with cedar top recently. It was as far as my budget would stretch and I was looking for something different to my Martin and Faith. It's good but I find it lacks resonnance which frustrates me. Sure I can use effects to help it but personally I think buck for buck Faith offer more.
I have played alot of the colors of the Furch lines - and the Blue Series G-Cedar Mahogany is the best value by far. Sure you can spend more to get more - but the Blue will get you to heaven just as fast.
I think this would be next acoustic why more people don't consider these over Taylors for the money such a better value for the money at any price point much better voicing
I have a Furch Orange and a Taylor 814-CE, and for little more than half the price, you get very comparable performance. Further, I called the Furch distributor and asked if I could have a new saddle because I wanted to lower the action and if I went too far, I wanted to be ready. They sent it to me and threw in a t-shirt - Bob Taylor would charge $60 for that!
A belated Happy Thanksgiving to you, Tony and your family. You are one of my favorite RU-vidrs that I watch throughout the year and I am thankful for you and your guitar lore and inspiration.
Great video Tony. I have a Yellow OM-SP (Sitka Spruce top and Padauk B&S) that is amazing! I don't know much about the Padauk wood...I was told it lies somewhere between Rosewood and Mahogany in its tonal qualities. OMG. Whatever...this guitar is taking all of my playing time away from my Martin OM-28. Amazing! Furch is coming for you Martin and Taylor.
Hey Tony, thanks again for another entertaining and informative Acoustic Tuesday. I really enjoyed the segment on Furch guitars I was impressed with how good the less expensive guitars sound. When I was in the market for a new guitar I almost bought a Furch but the dealer was a big turn off they were less than friendly so I went another direction (J-45). On another happier note, pun intended if you haven't already you should check out an acoustic group out of Italy called 40 fingers. I think you and your audience would enjoy listening to them. As always Be Nice & Play Guitar.
Hi Tony, I have 3 Furch guitars : an acoustic bass B 62 SW(walnut), a Vintage 3 OM SR 48 mm deep body and a Blue CM 48 mm, these are amazing instruments, with a clear and pure sound and the craftsmanship is superbe, I'm happy !
Great to hear that these guitars are getting some love. I have a 90's Stanford D20 which is phenomenal. The name is used currently under a very different quality, but the one I have is made by Furch. Looking for a new one that would be better on stage as mine just feeds back too much on stage . Suggestions?
Some beautiful Furch guitars. I love my D20CM Cut it blow me away with the warmth. I recently tried to find a guitar as good in guitar shop and did t find anything close at any price range
It bugs me a trifle that they don’t do cedar beyond yellow, although they’re all more mellow sounding than (say) Taylors, maybe it’s not such a big deal.
The Red Deluxe GC-SC is on my list for a holy grail guitar. Alpine Spruce top, Cocobolo back & sides. It’s a stunning guitar with a very articulate sound.
Got a Green OMc-SR back in May and have been playing this beauty almost every day since. Hard to put down once you strum a chord, magnificent. I did compare it to a few Martins and Taylors they had in the shop which were in way higher price classes and honestly, they couldn't come close to the Furch one. It is my very first higher end guitar I ever purchased and it was the best decision to take her with me on that lovely early Summer day. Thank you for all you have done, Tony, your content is Gold, keep it up!
@@FurchGuitarsOfficial It is an honor to be able to call myself a Furch Guitar owner. When it comes time for a new instrument, you guys are going to be the first ones I will take a look at! Much love from Austria 👋
