Ive watched a few of your videos. Great info. 2.5 months ago I started intermittent fasting with a low carb diet. I had a slue of health problems plus psoriasis on my elbows. Fast forward to today. I am down 26 pounds. My lower back problem went away. My feet don't hurt so much anymore. I had psoriasis on both elbows. Now it is just one elbow which came back from eating sugary treats. Sugar is a killer. For the last 2.5 months, I haven't had any added sugar and I feel great. Sorry to ramble on.

I was already off macros, off sugars, off gluten, off all refined oils or.processed foods, never drank or smoked, had already quit tea or coffee when I started having Psoriasis. It started two years back, at the age of 72. Yes, I do have UC and that is why I have been on restrictive diet and seriously watching what I eat. I had also been doing IF for 18 hours which is now reduced to about 12 - 14 hours (on my doctor's advice). I try to cook at home and avoid eating out. Mostly I try to eat vegetables and fruits. My psoriasis only appears.during winter and clears out during summer. Now I have no idea what else to quit!
@LovelessHealthSolutions
@LovelessHealthSolutions 11 месяцев назад
Sounds like vitamin d3 may play a role. Winter time d3 levels tend to decrease. Consider having your levels checked in winter and increasing d3 supplements then

In addition to eliminating or substantially reducing a variety of foods, what is your take on autoimmune suppressors like Ilumya?
@LovelessHealthSolutions
@LovelessHealthSolutions Год назад
Great question. The only benefit I see of these meds is calming the overactive immune response. The trouble is they suppress the immune system along with inhibiting other pathways in the body cause worse disease longterm. I'm not against them while you are try to find other answers if you psoriasis is too intense to handle. I don't see it as answer to the problem, but something that helps if it's ruining your life.

Dr. Loveless, I could really relate when you said you’d burn your skin to thwart the psoriasis. I too did - and sometimes do - this also. I have used hot water, and when I was a kid I used a heat lamp or I would cause a rug burn. Oddly, the burn would cancel out the itching for awhile and give respite. A question: when I was three years old, I began getting ‘knee aches’ - my knees would ache a lot for no apparent reason. Also at this age, I began getting rash outbreaks on my knees. This problem only ended in adulthood. Could the aching in the knee joints have been caused by the psoriasis? No doctor was ever able to tell me why the knees would ache. They don’t do it much any more.

I agree. What CAN we eat?! Cutting out so many foods is just incredibly depressing and discouraging. Plus, this looks very low carb and that can wreck hormones for women who need a good amount of carbs during the times of the month their body is building progesterone. So heal psoriasis but throw hormones out of whack in the process? I'm already eating all of the foods listed in link reply. For years! People can't believe I eat sardines and they ask me, "what in the heck is kimchi?!" However, these foods haven't done me any favors yet, unfortunately.

Dr Loveless, what about Einkorn sourdough bread. I make a 48hr fridge fermented sourdough and I am wondering if I can try to add it into my diet? (I have perfected this recipe and love Einkorn flour even though it is tricky to work with as it doesn’t have the same amount of gluten as traditional flour at all)

I prefer gluten free sourdough, but that is way better than any other option.

How long after implementing these dietary changes do your patients seem to notice improvements? I'm a week into totally avoiding sugar, wheat, and dairy and at first it got better, but now I'm starting to have psoriasis pop up around my eyebrow and my forearm. The main spots that I had on my arms and behind my elbows seem a little better, they are certainly less red and they don't bleed much, but with spots popping up where I have never had them before, I am wondering if its going to work for me. I know change takes time, but it doesn't seem good that after making these changes I have new areas popping up that were not an issue before.
@LovelessHealthSolutions
@LovelessHealthSolutions 3 месяца назад
Everyone is different. I've had people completely see psoriasis go away in a few months and others see many other health changes but not full psoriasis remission for a long while. Some need more indivualized advice, as well..

I don't think there is a plan to work for everyone. I am doing carnivore, so mostly red meat, some egg yolks and I can get away with a banana here and there and my skin is now 100 percent clear. For ten years, I did avoid gluten, cow dairy, nightshades (not bell peppers), oranges, sugars, and that was working and I had minimal spots. Unfortunately, I was one of those people who did react to the shot and flared my psoriasis and arthritis beyond my diet that always worked. I wonder if it has to do with how damaged your gut is? I don't know.

Doctor Loveless, I have removed wheat in any form and have started rice instead. Is it OK to have plain boiled basmati rice?? Using cold pressed unrefined groundnut oil in cooking. Just 2 spoons maximum in a day. Should I still change it to olive oil?? Will mustard oil be OK too??
