It's not just about consuming the pesticide, we also have to think of the workers exposed to pesticides at full strength day after day.

And our water supply contamination, and the small or microscopic critters that are sacrificed to grow anything without them eating it before it reaches a market. Vegan/vegetarian or recommended western diet is making people sick destroying the environment for greedy corporate interest. Stop supporting the sickcare system...nothing healthy to eat in this video, organic or not.

I know that here in the UK, it has been found that the "organic" labelled food is very often found to contain the same pesticides as non organic. Life is a mine field these days, and those of us who choose to live healthily are made to pay more. It really points to being punished for trying to stand apart from their programs of population control. I can only urge all to grow your own. That way we can step away from our dependency on the system and take sovereignty back into our own hands. Love all. 🙏

I've been using the baking soda trick for a few years now! As a grad student, 100% organic isn't feasible always but I do my best. In the summer almost all my produce is either foraged or from local farms (which even if they aren't certified organic use organic practices) but in the winter its a bit harder. I do always buy organic soy products, but with grains, nuts and legumes less so. This was a good reminder of the importance of organic practices all around. thanks!

Great video Derek. Thank you doing this! I just wanted to add that glyphosate isn’t used in all countries and so isn’t a worry for everyone. I believe its use is banned/limited in some EU countries and Mexico has a plan to phase it out in the next couple of years. Also - a great way to buy organic produce and support local farmers is to check out CSA options in your area. Can work out a little cheaper than buying from grocery stores, plus it's much fresher. I've read that glyphosate may be the reason why so many people are celiac or gluten intolerant too. It's not the gluten that is harming people - it's the glyphosate. It's such evil stuff. Love these educational videos Derek. Would love to see more!

Also worth considering which foods are cleaned more easily, removing more pesticides. Like an apple is easier to remove pest. residue compared to kale regardless of amount applied during growth. And I don’t see it as bashing farmers but more showing care for them too since they actually get higher doses of these chemicals than any consumers would. Cost does factor into choosing which foods to buy organic so it’s nice you talk about which ones can have the biggest impact to our health. Although even if the organic produce is prohibitively expensive it’s probably still better to get the regular kale over skipping entirely! Great video dude! Always enjoyed your educational videos the most! I know it’s difficult with RU-vid algorithm but maybe you’d consider doing one per week or something. I think it’s great variety for your channel too. 🌱

I have started switching to organic options after hauling non organic garbanzo beans out of the field to the processers. The plants are sprayed with Roundup as mentioned in the video and it's said to kill everything but the bean. I have trouble believing that because the plants are so brown and shriveled up, anything that can live through that has to be far from its natural state.

i had a question about this, i’ve seen some videos on tiktok about some farmers saying that the pesticides are fine and people are dumb for buying organic etc etc. since you’ve worked in the fields, why would you think some farmers are opposed to organic? i’ve done my fair share of research and i’d rather still buy organic since it’s better for the soil, better for the people since i would hate to be smelling and being around pesticides all day, and i know organic carries more phytonutrients than conventional.
@lizzzarduh
@lizzzarduh Год назад
@@Mylkygoddess but that’s on tik tok…..not very reliable but I think farmers would think that because they feel like they need to be prideful of using pesticides because it’s old school or maybe they can’t afford to go organic or they just deny the effects straight up or they are sponsored by round up/mansantos
@evosportychop8332
@evosportychop8332 Год назад
If I had to guess farming organically would be much more complex, costly, and time consuming. We are harvesting wheat right now. Truck after truck we haul to the elevators where it is sold as a commodity. Easy for the farmers because that's the traditional system. Subsidies could also be a concern. These are all just guesses as I am talking above my pay grade.

There is a lotttttttttttt to be said for companion planting to protect your food & the bottom line is this, time to go to the "old ways", "Grow Your Own Food", know what your eating & grow what you eat. Get involved in community gardens for food, network. The world is already hinting to not depend anymore on stores, nope, depend on yourself, we have become too lazy. Grow sprouts on your window sill use tower pots "normally used for strawberries" but stick lettuce in there, put up green houses & use filtered rain water.... Break the addiction to store bought food, you can grow on a patio or balcony in a block of flats, get permission to grow on the rooves of buildings because dear hearts, life as we knew it is going going so before it's gone, set up growing your own food. Love your channel btw, i don't often comment but this is important & rally farmers to stop destroying top soil. ≧◠‿◠≦✌Peace

Excellent video Derek. Such an important subject, and always good to be reminded why it’s worth spending time and money sourcing food that’s organic or even better if you can grow it yourself!

Great video! I think this is a very important topic that does not get enough attention. Thank you for spreading the message! We only buy organic and if something is not available in organic we do not buy it at all. Yes it might be more expensive in the short term, but you cannot put a price on the health of your family. I rather invest in the health of my family than anything else.
