I want to thank you for everything you do for the community 🙏🏽❤ I bought the fujifilm xt3 just because of your videos I'm no photographer but I can definitely learn from your videos I wanted to see if you could kindly help me out with taking pictures in a photo booth of hotwheels I can't figure out how to get full focus on the entire cars it only focuses on a few but not all if that makes sense sigh im sorry if that doesn't make sense I'm a newbie in the photography world

Thank you for the informative videos you make! I am about to buy the Fujifilm XE-4 and have two questions: Does the same slow saving happen when the camera is applying a film simulation? And can the camera apply a film simulation after taking the photos? For example when i have more time to process and saving the photos in the evening.

Since getting my XT3 the ONLY place I go for my learning on how to use it properly is YOUR channel. Fujifilm SHOULD pay you for the VERY helpful ideas, hints and tricks for Fujifilm cameras that you give on your channel. Wow, I wish I found your channel sooner. I've had my X-T3 for over a year (after owning other cameras)and have tried to learn things not well explained in the manual. There are many other channels but they either rip through specs and click buttons or they go so fast you have to keep stopping, going back and trying again. This is the perfect pace and it's more informative. You know what the camera is programmed to do and you explain how to understand it from the inside out! THX!

Recently discovered your channel, think you do a GREAT job with your videos. As a Fuji photographer, I truly enjoyed your explanation of some of the lesser understood functions like dynamic range settings (I did not know the DR function actually affects Raw files for example). I'm a traditional still photographer who moved to the Fuji system a couple of years ago due to superb image quality and retro controls (being an amateur photog for over 40 yrs now truly appreciate the old style aperture/shutter dials on the cameras). You asked about interest in a more in-depth video tutorial, well I vote for that. I've been increasingly interested in dipping my toes into the video world but find all the jargon a bit confusion. You are a great teacher so I'd enjoy very much some in-depth video tutorials in the future. For now, I'm really enjoying your C1 series--excellent work! Keep up the great job; I'm encouraging all my photo friends to check out your channel and subscribe.

Thanks for sharing Chris! I would add: if the camera freeze, before taking out the battery, be sure to put the camera in OFF mode, otherwise if you take out the battery while the camera is ON, you will loose all personal settings and it will reset to default, and it it's not nice.

Thank you so much, the auto ISO issue bothered me when I was shooting my previous street photography video. Now it made so much sense why I was unable to use the default ISO that I have set even if I was shooting in broad daylight.

Excellent vid - thanks! It's worth refreshing your knowledge of these quirks from time to time as skills fade happens (especially to us oldies 😉). Another quick one. If your shoe-mounted flash suddenly stops working - just make sure you're not set to electronic shutter 👍

You can get around the issue where the camera slows down the file storing when clarity/sharpness are tweaked , just change your shutter dial setting from single to either CH or CL Funny I had this issue today on a shoot, last night I setup up my custom functions and I definitely tweaked the clarity and sharpness.

I find that if you throw the camera into your bag while cussing it, and then don't pick it up for several days, then any problems experienced before simply vanish as you can't remember what you were doing anyway. 🙂👍 Best wishes all..... Steve.

Fantastic summary. Excellent few points it took me a while to get when I first switched to Fujifilm. You are certainly a “RU-vidr” and an excellent educator as well! Wow thanks! Just picked up an X-T1 to try out Fuji’s film simulations. It was working fine and then all the sudden it’s taking it’s time like your first example. Was worried I got a lemon of a camera BUT have things set up with “film simulation recipes” which are producing nice images but are taking longer to process. No problem... worries solved. Thanks!

Tip 3 was the one that helped me! My X-t4's exposure compensation was automatically setting itself too high and I couldn't take movies on a snowy day!

the dr400 and dr200 setting include internal calculations by combining 160 base iso with the higher iso - to enhance dynamic range. so the behavior is absolutely needed to take effect of enhanced dr.

I've learned a lot from your channel. I'm a new X-T3 owner (got mine about two weeks ago or so). There's so much to learn, but it's been fun and you and some others on YT have been helpful. Question: I was messing with the front command dial yesterday because it wasn't doing anything. I figured out why in terms of the settings to change. But, I still trying to wrap my head around the why of when it does and doesn't change the assigned functions, i.e. F, ISO, exposure compensation. Am I correct that it only works when that dial is set to A?

I would like to add - in video mode with movie optimized control it is possible to map ISO, SS and aperture to front/back dials. This is nice to have the option to switch the settings fast. As SS is usually fixed most of the time, I mapped ISO to the front and aperture to the back dial

Great! Thanks so much. One issue I've recently run into that I can't figure out whether or not it's me or the camera is that when I enable Exposure Lock, I am no longer able to move my focus point. I can still focus on whatever I want, but the point stays locked. It's focus, recompose until I disable Exposure Lock. This is so confusing to me. I've tried all kinds of settings and nothing seems to make it work. I've seen some discussion on it being an issue from a few years ago, but nothing recently. (I'm currently using an X-E3.)

Awesome work. Sometimes the Exp.Comp. dial drivers me crazy as it does nothing even if there is room for the ISO to go down or up. Highest ISO setting are properly set as well as the DR settings. In think there is something going on when you go over +-3 & "C". You can turn the wheel "endless" but it seems to behave not as such.

Hi! Speaking of "not quite problems" I think it would be very handy if while in the Tracking AF mode one could release AF-ON button and the camera would continue to track selected object. I hate that i must keep the button pressed for the tracking to keep working. Is there a workaround maybe?

Hi Chris, great video again! I have an XT3 and I love the touch focus on the touchscreen. Do you know a way to touch focus on a on-camera monitor? I put an Android tablet on my rig, with a hdmi video capture module, great view, but it would be much better if I could focus there. Do you know a affordable solution? I've got a focusing question with the XT-4. Last week I rented the 100-400 for some wildlife stuff and it performed amazingly (I need that lens in my life lol). However, for the life of me I could not get that camera and lens combo to focus on a bird to save my life. I couldn't figure out how to get the camera to track something that was moving across frame, especially in high burst rate (CH) mode. Any suggestions on what setting I'm just not switching on (or off)?

I enjoyed the video with all the information provided, unfortunately my particular issue wasn't discuss. I have the Fujifilm X-T10 and recently purchased the Rokinon 8MM fisheye lens that for some reason is not allowing pictures to be taken when the camera when using the lens. What settings are making it where a manual lens is stoping pictures from being taken on my camera? Pleas help in answering. Thank you

Hi! I have an XT-5 with 18-55 kit and when I shoot and use the zoom, if I zoom in the light changes and when I zoom out it goes back, but all settings are set to manual not auto. Could it be a camera error?

Hi there!! I wanted to thank you for your very informative videos! Also, I have a question that it may be silly, but I can’t seem to find an explanation for: I have an xt3 and I use the square format a lot, however when I go to review my shot on the back of the camera, we’ll it’s not a square format anymore, but it takes the whole screen. When I download the photo on my laptop it’s still a square, so no problems there, but I find it odd that if I take a square composition, and then I go to review it straight on camera I’m not really looking at the composition because it’s back to default. Any explanation for this?? Thanks a lot! Cheers Omar

Love the content, easy sub! Quick question, using the x100T for 3 years now i feel it’s time to upgrade. I will keep my baby but the x-t3 is on the wishlist for this year. Mainly for diff focal lengths and video. You have multiple video tips but do you have a “best video lenses for x-t3/4” kind of video? Looking at the ois lenses I can’t figure out 18-55 or 16-80 having only used the 23 on x100T. Well that wasn’t quick at all :)

Hi Chris, Thanks for a great channel. Have you ever encountered a physical “collapse” of the shutter button itself. I have an X-T4. It is stuck on the half press and won’t return to the original position. Going to take into the store but was just wondering if this has happened to you? LG

Great to watch and learn from it, however none of these problems occurred (yet). I do have an other problem that I can't seem to fix...I lost my 'drive settings' function in the 3rd menu because I want to try out focus bracket photography to use when I'm hiking in the mountains. I don't have a clue where to find it (back? was it ever there?). Would be GREAT if you know where it's hiding or why it's not there on my X PRO2

Also Auto ISO might not work because of "Shutter AE" set to off (x-t3). I also have some issues with shutter release being not responsive from time to time, like it requires much more pressure than usual. I initially thought that it might be because of very cold weather, but apparently not, it might have something to do with flicker reduction function, and the issue isn't common and I hope there's gonna be simple solution or/and firmware update on that.

I have a good one for you! Is there a way to see how many images are currently on the sd card from the playback screen? On my Canon I can something like 1/568, but on the Fuji system it seems like you can only see the file names.

Your videos are always very helpful and informative, I always watch . Maybe you can help with my problem. I recently shot a video interview with my Xt3 and 18-55 in continuous focus mode and got focus pulsing, the footage is unusable I never had this before and I am not sure what setting I have changed for this to happen ,any help would be great. What about backfocussing issue? I have it on my X-T3 and X-T4 also. If I focus on eyes for ex. it focuses a few inches back of them.

I think in the past I had issues with the camera seemingly not responsive to input, Inc buttons the way you describe. I simply turned the camera off and back on to reset it as I didn’t know what the problem was, and just wanted to keep shooting,

Would love to hear your thoughts on this. I have an XT30 and #4 is happening to me very frequently, when it used to seldom happen. Now when it happens, even after I take the battery out and put it back in, I hear the click of the camera turning on, and the LCD screen kind of lights up to a very faint blue, but overall the LCD screen is completely off, all my controls are not working, and nothing happens when I press the shutter button. My battery is completely full, and I've switched multiple SD cards (my SD cards also work perfectly fine on my other cameras). Whenever this happens, I basically can't use the camera for 30 minutes until it decides to start working again. Any ideas?
