Every Spring I look forward to seeing warblers, small, Often times colorful, quite vocal, insectivorous birds in the family Parulidae. These little spring birds leave their warm wintering grounds south of the border in Central and South America and migrate up to the northern parts of the country for the Summer where they breed.

This was ur latest vid but pkease gelp! I found a baby chickadee today! It's tail feathers are about an inch and he has a lil baby fluff but not much.. ..i would say its about my thumb size but fatter. I fed it via syringe water first, then let sleep from exhaustion then some banana and crushed walnut pwdr w water. Tiny amount. She was not really that hungry. I gave what she wanted of it. She's sound asleep. When she wakes i have high quality dog food soaking in water with a little apricot. She will not eat on her own. She has been offered a wide variety of nuts and seeds with or without being stuck to peanut butter. And will not have interest. Pkease help. What do i do next

30 years ago my birding revelation was warblers. I had heard about them but never saw one. Then one day in mid-spring I was laying outside in my fathers heavily wooded back yard, and noticed several small birds flitting around near the tops of 40-50 foot tall oak trees. I grabbed my binoculars and saw several different warblers. I was hooked on birding from that moment on.

I've been out collecting bird songs with a hand-held audio recorder, and playing them back at 1/3 speed. That lets you hear many of those notes you can't hear in realtime, and can be quite a revelation. The ovenbird's "teacher, teacher, TEACHER" becomes "cherokee, cherokee, CHEROKEE". The hermit thrush sounds like bamboo flutes, and blue jays sound like something from Jurassic Park. I don't have enough birding experience to identify many of the songs I capture, but they're all wonderfully other-wordly played back in slo-mo.

I'm thankful that it was warblers which got me into birding, beyond identifying common forest birds. Working in northwest Canada's boreal forest, one early spring a half dozen different coloured varieties of warblers came north at once and found only a few open patches amidst the snow where they were congregating in numbers. Out of curiosity I bought my first Peterson's Guide and I was off and running.

I saw several Kirkland's Warblers in the summer in 1992 near Mio Michigan. The locals told me that they were super rare and Wintered in the Bahamas. Since then they have been more common due to conservation efforts. They have headed North and West of their original nesting areas. In fact, a Michigan rest stop on I-75 has been named after them and is about 75 miles from their original range.
