1. Sleep enough. Rise and rest early. 2. Fight procrastination. 3. Love to learn! 4. Prioritize and balance. 5. Knowing that you're not perfect and self-correcting! :) Thanks!
I JUST WANTED TO TELL YOU THAT YOUR VIDEOS HELP ME SO MUCH THROUGHOUT THE DAY AND YOUR POSITIVITY AND YOUR ATTITUDE TOWARDS LIFE IS JUST AMAZING AND IM SO GLAD THAT IM SUBSCRIBED TO YOUR CHANNEL THANK YOU SO MUCH!
To add to the balance one. Leave some time for yourself. Once in a while setting aside an evening to be relaxed and in your own company is a great stress reliever.
Rowan. xx as a mom this is sooooo important. I never get enough time to do anything for myself. But I also love the life and relationship I have with my kids. Dunno how to strike a balance with kid time and mommy time.
"Thanks" to Hurrricane Maria I have learned so much things such to wash my clothes by hand, be thankful for everything that we have such as food and health, to help others and to gain patience... from a horrible experience I have learned little things that were there but just didn't put importance on them. Xoxo from Puerto Rico 🇵🇷
Touching on the paying bills and negative thoughts about it, I heard an awesome perspective from Canna (sugarmamma tv) on a podcast. She said that when we pay the electricity bill, she is thankful because that electricity has already kept her fridge running for the month so she could feed her son fresh food, it had already given her a month of turning the lights off when she was ready rather than having to rely only on daylight, etc. When she pays her phone bill she is thankful to spend that money because its already given her a month of contact with business endevours and family. Basically, don't just see they money leaving and sighing about bills, but be thankful for what they've already provided. In most areas of life, we have to pay before we use a product. With the majority of our bills we pay after we've used it. I've always loved that perspective and it makes expenses feel less expensive and more rewarding.
You rock Kalyn Nicholson! Your videos have literally gotton me out of my rut and made me feel like...Heck yea I can get my life together! And whenever I need motivation I re watch your videos and I'm always inspired! Thanks for being a Positive Self Love kind of amazing girl you are! 🤗
I wish you had been around when I was in my twenties!!!!! I'm in my 30s but your tips are great for all ages, and so encouraging. I needed this today, because I've been floundering a lot lately.
Yes, a girl boss is prioritizing your life. Connection is more important than work I agree. I am in school and working full time and I do try and implement this wisdom in my life. Love, joy and connection is number one in life :) love this video, thank you!
When I'm having a bad day from depression or anything, when I watch your videos you remind me that I can make it through. You help shine some light on my day.
I’ve really been in a girlboss mindset lately, pushing myself towards my goals telling myself I can do anything I want with hard work and this video has given me a fresh boost of inspo!! ready to go and tackle the day now thanks Kalyn!
Thank you so much for addressing the idea of focussing on the people who are important in our lives rather than losing ourselves in ambitions. Definitely an eye opener.
You should start listing what you're wearing for clothes, makeup and nail polish on here. I usually watch all your hauls but easy forget where things may be from, plus your nails are gorgeous with the color you have on here.
this is so helpful. i'm fighting a hard battle against mental illness and it's really hard not to beat myself up because sometimes i fail and i go back to my toxic habits. this video made me want to try even harder. love you kalyn, thank you
I fell into the abyss of depression over the last few years, and I stopped watching anything on YT let alone anything involved with self-improvement (mainly your videos) This is the first one in what must be at least four years. I have to say, it feels like fate. Of all times in my life, of all videos to grab my attention when i deliberately go looking for them again, this is the one that catches my eye. I am going through a new experience of no longer being able to work due to mental health, however I have finally found out the root cause. I think people forget self-care during illness and autistic burnout as well as general life maintenance is a full time job in itself, and all this advice still applies and then some. So thank you. I do still have some purpose if I have need to take on your advice and hopefully feel better soon enough
By far my favorite RU-vidr. You are so down to earth, inspiring, smart, and not egocentric at all. :) honestly. You look like such a wonderful person. Hope you have an amazing weekend!
100% on timers. I use them regularly to get sh*t done. And I 100% agree on the learning. I try to always allow my curiosity to be greater than my fear. I know that even by just doing something once, I'll be so much more capable if I'm ever faced with it again. That spurs me on. Stretching my comfort zone so that the fringes start to feel comfortable. And then stretching it again.
watching your videos made me stop procrastinating. like, writing down "watch Kalyn video for moral boost" in my morning planner has been a thing in my daily routine for a while now. + i love your mugs
I hate that there is only one week left of youtober. I'm a new subscriber and I absolutely appreciate and love your energy and vibe. I relate to you so much and I love it when you make motivational and work focused videos. I'm a college student and your videos help a lot. So thank you and I will miss your daily videos.
Recently I was constantly working on my school work to where I couldn’t even spend time with my friends and family without worrying about school. Luckily I realized this and I’m prioritizing my friends and family more and I feel so much better. Life seems so much more beautiful. 💗 thank you, Kalyn!
I just love you so much, it gives me so much strength and self confidence just watching your videos and listening to your voice that I feel like a girl boss every time I watch one of your video. Thank you so much for uploading one every single day, it really helps me to get through those days happily and strongly
This topic reasonates with my life 150% right now. I want you to know that your videos have inspired me greatly, and thanks to you, I am reading #girlboss and have read Jenn Sincero's Badass book and both are essentially my go to's for life. I've been struggling to find my career niche, for the last few years, and regular jobs are just not for me. I am an artist and extrovert, who is sick of being chained to a desk of a job that is so monotonous and sucks the life out of you. Too long, I have worked jobs I hated to pay the bills, and while I know those jobs are a part of the journey, the part where I am so clearly unhappy is now ending. It won't be easy, but I am finally in a place where I can make it happen, and not worry (as much!) whether or not I will succeed, or about what others think. Thank you Kalyn for being an inspiration and a kick ass girl boss! You help so many of us, more than you know. :)
You hav no idea how this video came at the perfect time 😢💖 thank you so much. Adding this video to “favorites” so I can view it again when I need it!!! 💖
Love your videos Kalyn ! Every time I need some positivity or motivation I can watch your videos and feel so inspired and happy, also Am I the only one that pauses the video to read the quote , it's one of my favorite parts of your videos
You can do no wrong with your content!💕 This video has to be one of my favorites if not my favorite! So much valuable information that everyone should hear!
First off, YES. These are all things that I have been learning and putting into practice for the past year since graduating from college. Down to using the timer to make tasks seem less overwhelming. I started doing this a couple months ago and it works miracles. The using what you procrastinate with as a reward thing is a great idea. I'm gonna use that. One of my top things lately is to wake up and go to bed thinking of/writing down 10 things I am grateful for. I've started to do it just about every day and I feel so much better. It allows me to notice so many other things throughout my day to be grateful for as well. I've also written out things I want to accomplish as me being grateful to already have them, and I read it out every morning along with the other gratitude list (tip I got from another youtuber). This helps me subconsciously begin believing that I can actually do/have these things, while also keeping me in check as far as focusing on the steps to get there. Second, Nothing's Gonna Hurt You Baby at the end of the video. I love that song. And it is very fall-appropriate. So yes. Keep doing everything you are doing. With love from Miami, Florida!
You always post a video in the perfect timing when I really need your advice. I was really struggling today and this video made me cry and made me think about how to live my life. I know that I sound weird, but thank you for posting this video. Thank you so much and I always love your videos Kalyn❤️
I've watched some of your videos randomly in the past but subscribed in the past couple months and your videos are the top ones I'm looking forward to watching most days. Keep it up, girl!
Omg I love your tips. So applicable literally right now in my life. Studying for the CPA exam and already counting myself out and procrastinating. So helpful!!
I have been binge watching so many of your videos. I love to see how passionate about RU-vid and your job you are. It makes me excited to see a new video everyday. It also inspires me to push my channel more and create more content!
I know this video is almost a year old, but I only discovered your channel recently through your fall morning routine videos and I love it, you've become my new RU-vid addiction. I'm still at university but your videos are just motivational in a way I really enjoy. I find that a lot of #girlboss or even morning routine videos come across as really judgemental or unrealistic so that's why I'm loving yours!! Also, another Torontonian eyyyy
I'm not trying to tell anyone else how to feel, AT ALL, I'm well aware it's probably just me, I just want to express myself here... I really dislike the word "girlboss". As a female boss in a corporate setting... I'm just a boss. No need to add the "girl" - I'm also a woman, and very proud of that, and enjoy that, but adding the "girl" part to it to me just makes it sound like playing pretend. No - I AM a boss, I AM in charge, I GET things done, not because I'm a girl, or in spite of it, but because I DO. That's just my feelings. Some of the women I admire most - Princess Diana, Angelina Jolie, Beyonce, Amal Clooney... calling them "girlbosses" would be way of an understatement. They are powerful women in charge of their lives who influence the world around them with the sheer force of their brains and hearts. Working your ass off - professionally and on who you are as a person - deserves a more mature word in my opinion.
Very much agree!! I love the empowerment of thinking of women in "boss" roles. And I love the themes that she brought up in today's video. But I really dislike the term "girl-boss" and I dislike that so many women have adopted it. I'm just the boss...who happens to be a woman...not a girl. I think anytime we take a serious concept and use cutesy words and silly phrases, we immediately undercut ourselves as women who need to be taken seriously in the workplace...and often aren't. Let's talk about female leadership or directing as a woman. I'm a big believer that words matter and what we call things matter. There is a reason we no longer hire secretaries...we hire administrative assistants. There is a reason we have abandoned stewardess in favor of flight attendant. Those roles are important and vital in their respective fields and their previous titles diminished that.
Fawn Whisperer You have a good point, but I also think the term Girl Boss inspires the younger generation, especially young girls and women, to want to be more and do more. To create their own success. I think it particularly ticks off older women in my bracket and above but it does something to teens and young women. I think!
There's something about your videos that utterly relatable and So different among girl-bosses' videos. Thank you for even doing RU-vid and spreading gifts of life-changing motivation ❤️❤️
Today was a rough day and watching this video made realize that’s it’s okay to fail sometimes and to take everything as a learning experience 💕 thank you for making these videos, they are always the best 💖💖
You’re so right Kalyn procrastination is the DEVIL. I have found myself using the timer on my phone alot in order to get shit done. Especially now that I finally mustered up the courage to start my channel. I keep telling myself that if I’m ever gonna film a video I have to be on a schedule because I work fulltime and have a blog as well and being a perfectionist doesn’t help either. I get so hard on myself sometimes. This video was super helpful. Thank you! 💕
I love this video and how positive it is. I’ve been trying to fix my thinking especially with this week and the fact that I have so much that needs to be done before Saturday. I love your Youtober series.
I live by everything Kayln says. I've been working two jobs, going to MED school, juggling my life as an author/blogger, and coming up business plans left and right. And I'm only 19. Honestly, if I could do it so can you.
I literally take notes when I watch your videos and coffee talks!! You are so amazing and you always help me when I'm having a bad day. Love you xoxoxx.
You have no idea how much this has helped me. I’m currently studying for a really difficult test to get into med and I definitely have self doubt. This has changed my perspective! Thank you so much 💞
I was watching this as I was getting ready for work, and \that quote at the beginning turned my perspective around and made me actually content with going to work on a Sunday. I need to buy the book!
Thank you extra for girl boss habit #3 today. I just had a devastating day in class today that put a lot more on my plate with 2 weeks left in school. It made me want to give up, but this was a reminder to push on and treat it as a learning curve. Thank you thank you thank you.
this is perfect. You are one of the few people I have seen actually agree with me that our generation is too "success" obsessed. Yes, getting a good job is great! But it's not great if you have to leave your family and friends behind (physically and emotionally). Even my professors in college like to encourage us to leave everything behind to further our education and get a better career. No amount of money or job will make me happy if I don't see those who have shaped me into who I am in the first place.
These types of videos that you make literally help me so so much! Im currently in my second year of university and I'm studying neuroscience (goal is to become a psychiaitist or neuropsychologist) and to be completely honest, my first year was not the greatest both in school and in my personal life. And I put so much pressure on myself to make sure my grades are top notch that its turned into a fear of failure and of course my marks aren't going to be well. These videos help me remind myself that we all have bumps in the road but its the passion and determination that keeps us going so than you so much for that
so true!! being a girl boss is tough and these tips are truth, sleep is something i realized i needed more, im a way happier person with enough sleep :) xox love yah girl
i LOVE you SO much ur series this month has inspired me to take charge and steer my life in to a more positive direction. Thank you so much I love you!
Thank you Kalyn. I really needed this video- for me it has been the most helpful one of the Youtober series. I graduate in six months and this month I am applying to grad school for a master's degree, and I have DEFINITELY been procrastinating it just like you said. That is exactly how I felt, and you finally put it into words! This girl boss is going to buckle down and start my thesis and application statements tomorrow, all because of you ❤ thank you
I love this. My treat to get my MicroBio weekly assignments done is I must do it before watching the new Outlander episode... It does work and it helps.
