I would give the gift of time to my mother. Time for her to meet her great grandchildren. She died at a very early age of 52 and she loved her grandchildren more than anything. But if she could just have one day with her great grandchildren it would make me so happy. I miss her every day but it hurts even more that they never got to meet what a special woman she was. My children live in London So I have a UK address. That also means that I don’t see them very often either since I live in the US. Time. Time would be my gift

I would like to gift my son a girlfriend. He's an ICU nurse, a fabulous cook and has an excellent sense of humour. I know he's not gay so can't figure out why he's single. He's handsome as well! He'd have a fit if he saw this 🤣

If I could, I would make my mum the most fabulous jacket. She died from cancer when she was only 45 and money was always very tight so she never bought herself anything nice ‘just because’. There was a funky colourful jacket we once saw when out shopping - which she fell in love with - but it was too expensive. I would absolutely love collaborating with her in the creative process of figuring out a style, fabric choice, pattern and putting lots of love and care into this garment for her.

I’d love to give a gift of kindness- it doesn’t need to be anything , a smile a hello , do you need any help with that . A little kindness means so much when given and received 💞

I love these ideas, Tamlyn! I am in the process of planning these days, so it was really useful. (Shout out to Adam and Alison for thinking up this great challenge!) My darling mum passed away 5 years ago. She was a great seamstress, and somehow (even though she worked on the farm in addition to her teaching job) managed to sew me and my four siblings new Christmas outfits every year. I only started sewing after she passed away, and I would have loved to sew her something like a new winter coat, just to have her snuggle up in something that I now know how to make. (PS. Please don't enter this into the draw, as I live in Norway. Just wanted to tell the story anyway..).

I would love to be able to give a gift to my step dad, but I can't as he passed away fromasdive stroke in 2019 and I never got to say good bye and thank you for being the wonderful dad that he didn't have to be. My mom is currently fighting lung cancer and I've become her full time caregiver, I want to sew her up a jumper as she's always cold, I love to make her things as she's so proud of my sewing. I totally understand that it would be way too expensive to ship the advent calender internationally. But I thought I would tell you one person in my life who I would give a gift to. My older sister was diagnosed with cancer earlier this year. I am so grateful that she is responding to treatments so well. It isn't an actual gift I would give her but the gift of time together with family. That is all she really wants. But as a actual gift I think everyone in my family would love a homemade lanyard. I think it's lovely that you give the staff in your son's nursery class a gift. I work at a daycare and always am very thankful for a gift. I would like to say there are a few staff that while they don't work in the classroom or maybe just for a small part of the day often get overlooked. These include the cook, the floater, the lunch break staff and in the daycare I work at we have a staff that does laundry and some cleaning. Of course for a parent giving gifts this can get expensive. But your idea of the lanyard is a great gift idea. We all have our ID and door entry fob to carry everyday. Even if you can't make one they are available at dollar stores. Now to check out your other ideas are SHJ. Thanks so much for the wonderful gift ideas.

I made my colleagues at work last year face masks, I would love to make them fabric crowns for our Christmas lunch. They all thought it was amazing I could make them something.

Wonderful ideas Tamlyn and I have news ideas for all those thank you present’s you need all through the year! I will say I would love to have made something for my mother in law who passed away when she was 52 from cancer. She was always very stylish and I never had the chance to add to her wardrobe xx

I would make makeup bags and laptop bags for the staff in my Mum’s nursing home, they are so kind and caring towards all the residents and it would be a way to say thank you for their dedication x

Money is really tight this year so I'm using up my fabric stash to bulk up the gifts for my teen girls. Also going to make some of your oven gloves for my MIL.

Oh that’s the 2nd oven mitt I’ve seen today so I think it’s a sign……I’d love to make my forever in my heart dog a cosy bed…..sadly he made his way over the rainbow bridge last year.

Thanks for the Xmas ideas. I would like to sew a gift of a makeup bag for my friend Carol and fill it with well-being goodies. She’s a great friend who has always been there for me. X
