Of the many gifted guitar instructors on the internet, Steve is the only one that really helped me think and apply guitar very much. The others definitely helped, but nothing like Steve's videos. In several years of interweb use, I never ever pay money to get the better lessons that are normally offered by virtual instructors. But I might actually pay for Steve's extra classes. Thanks Steve

Man I cant put in words how much I appreciate you. you unlocked my talents Steve you changed my life man .lead licks have allways been what caught my ear n I wanted to be able to do.never did I understand until I listened to you a year ago.
I would throw some money your way for some lessons or something but I'm just a poor country boy can barely afford the Bill's as is plus I'm just now really learning how to really use this phone .god bless you man . awesome
Hi Steve. it's Tomas here from Nottingham (UK). I've just found your channel as I'm getting back to play my guitar again that I haven't played for years. I just got an electric guitar today as an addition to my electro-acoustic one and have found your videos really motivational, right to the point, encouraging and very knowledgeable. You giving me a hope that I will be able to learn much more than just play songs with a few chords. Looking forward to go through all your videos now and learn. Thank you.
Hey Steve for those who grew up with vinyl as our backing track? Tip #2 👍 learning all the Notes 1 string at a time, made learning theory all come together for me.. I guess it won't hurt try out a spark amp! even though I already have a Freedman and Blackstar.. learning guitars is a Endless Journey🙃 thank you for another great video✌
Man i have been playing for a embarrassing amount of time and just realized some of the things he’s talking about. But staying motivated is hard but go to a guitar shop play a new guitar or amp or pedal and if you can buy one it’s motivating
Hi Steve!I'm Elizabeth Perera fr SLanka. You speak perfect English and it's just so nice t the ear to listen to your motivations.I bumped into this today.Well you r very true. You got t b at it.I started learning with an Aria Fiesta Classical guitar nylon strings (my first )f Yamaha 2016.When I'm learning anything,I truly embrace it no matter what. With sleepless nights ,I practiced till I was right.I never went t my guitar teacher(A prominent Air force Band Head)without perfect practice once a week.I don't like t b piked on in my life or hear I didn't practice. Now 5 years I play many songs knowing many guitar scales.I memorized. When I hear a bful song on Hold FM here,I apply scales t suit my voice n make it somehow.Im a rythm guitarist. Also doing best t learn lead in Intros n interludes of songs.Im quite Ok n memorize the places on the fret board f lead. Now the fingers move t sounds by ear automatically. When I saw you teach pentatonic etc.I got motivated on your videos. But in my new guitar bought u plug into an Amplifier n theres a battery inserted too,and a tuner also.Uts not an electric (only lead) guitar.U can use with n without electricity.I can c your guitar types are for concertsforfofor
Your last suggestion hit me like an arrow bro. Damn this 💯 true. My buddy opened up for Yngwie back in December of 2021 and he was always trying to encourage me to come over and jam when I was in school over 27 years ago. I was afraid
I did the garage thing for years . We did do our own shows and was okay . Open mic nights at bars in the area . We got invited back many times. Now I am 62 and have retired from that busy play out stuff . I still play at home and keep learning new things on guitar. The guys I was with still play in a garage and that is like a step back for Me. A reason I stopped is that they are not going any where as far as learning new stuff as a group . Believe Me I tried to get that to happen . I can and could go solo and maybe import other musicians along the way . Maybe .
I often say, you can practice against a song all you like at home, but playing that same song live with others and suddenly, you realise, you haven't truly grasped some of the aspects of it.
what kind of guitar textbook would you recommend to a 10 year old boy who just learned guitar for about a year? His teacher is not giving him structured lessons so he's been playing a bit of everywhere. Appreciate your advice. Thanks Steve.
For the tip around @ of never saying no to an opportunity to jam, even if you don't think you are good enough: right! People love to hear from you if you are awesome, but anybody worth jamming with will ALSO love to share something with you. Everyone likes to show off a little. In addition, put 5 or 10 really good techniques, songs, riffs, or whatever in your own bag, so you have something unusual to contribute to anyone. Doesn't need to be long. Unless your jamming partner is Steve himself (and maybe not even then), that person isn't going to have the same items ready to play that you do. I one time got to play with a 90's musician who has sold a million-plus albums. I'm nowhere near the electric player he is, but to my surprise, he was super-excited about a banjo and classical inspired set of fingerstyle techniques that I do, that I considered unremarkable. It was a great lesson that nobody, or almost nobody, has mastered every technique in the world. Heck, if you do nothing more than lay down a bass line for someone, you will both get a lot out of it. Don't let fear or pride hold you back.
though i just watched your video . i really enjoyed it. but now with new restrictions in play again , i haven't been to an outing since it began , being in a band right now is not happening because of the big "C" . so i practice at home but not much as i want between work which takes up most of my time. but listening to you steve really pick me up keep up the good work
