Wow.. so simple but mind blown. I made a keystroke for Velocity but it's so much to hold ALT + Shift an then Option + CMD + V and then slide up and down. It's like my fingers are playing twister lol

@@Pikachu-qr4yb logic has a stock command for velocity. Cmnd + ctrl = pointer changes to velocity tool

Blair Darby Blair Darby Probably not, think of it like statistics. If a video gains popularity, it’s pretty unlikely that all 12,000 watchers of this video aren’t going to dislike it. Maybe someone who watched the video spoke a different language and didn’t like it for that reason. Maybe the watcher just has very high standards in RU-vid videos and dislikes any below that standard. Maybe a toddler slipped upon this video and didn’t know what the dislike button was. Stuff like that is not likely the culprit. Also, I don’t know why anyone would make box just to dislik also, I don’t know why anyone would make box just to dislike videos, unless for some reason someone hated a certain channel and wanted to spread that heat too it’s videos, but mass disliking seems like a strange way to give someone negative attention, especially if no one would be commenting that the video was bad.

Piano Roll Note Names were only recently introduced in version 10.1 (or was it 10.2?)

Dr Voodoo okay thanks! That makes me feel better, but I can never tell when they add smaller features like that. It also wouldn’t be the first time I didn’t know a feature that’s been in Logic for years and would have saved hours and hours of time had I’d known it was available.

I’m so happy with all the improvements since version 5, was just using the smart tempo and pitch flex today for sound design, so so helpful, but those are some of the big obvious ones. I try and read the patch notes for each update but sometimes the improvements, like notes/velocity in the piano roll(which I turned on today BTW..it’s AWESOME) get kind of buried.

@@johnego669 Absolutely. I'm get a little overwhelmed sometimes at the amount of features they add to each update and if you look at everything they've added since version 10.0.0, it's staggering. Definitely a lot to unpack. What's really crazy is that every update since 2013 has been 100% free!

Only way to have them permanently on is by selecting "Note Names", locking the screen set you are on and then saving that project as a Template. This works 100% though, I know because this is the way I do it too

Hey Randal! Yeah it’s a pain getting used to another daw. I think logics piano roll is overall a little nicer once you get used to it. You can change the key commands so things like transpose and octave transpose are the same

@@EchoSoundWorks hmm, something must be amiss here. i never use the velocity tool (primary or secondary) for anything but regularly set constant velocity levels in the piano roll by highlighting the desired notes with the regular cursor tool, holding shift+option and while doing so dragging the velocity slider to the desired velocity and then all of the highlighted notes conform to that desired velocity. i also use shift+option with the regular cursor to conform note lengths as well.

@@EchoSoundWorks Yup, unfortunately you are missing out! You don't have to set anything up, it works by default. Command + Control switches the Pointer Tool to the Velocity Tool, absolutely no set up required. Hit Command + Control then quickly hit Option + Shift and then drag up or down to set all the notes to the same velocity.

@@EchoSoundWorks - Right, but you don't need to have the secondary (Command Click) tool set to the Velocity Tool for it to work. My secondary (Command click) tool for example is the Scissor Tool. So the 3 tools (since I've set the Right Click is assignable to a Tool in Preferences) I have set up are: 1. Pointer Tool (Left Click) 2. Scissors Tool (Command Click) 3. Mute Tool (Right Click). The Command + Control trick to switch the Pointer to the Velocity tool still works, and from there you hit Shift + Option + drag up/down to set all the selected note's velocities to the same value. Main point here is that the Command/Secondary tool doesn't have to be the Velocity Tool.

@@EchoSoundWorks this is all i do guys.....just as i explain it above. i wish i could show it in a screen capture to you. -- you do NOT have to switch tools at all. reread my description and try it out. i promise you it works, i use at all the time.

Paul Sweeney there’s not a one click button, but there is a pretty easy work around. We have a video about this if you want an in depth explanation. But here’s what you can do: 1.) make a midi region 2.) select your scale 3.) select the brush tool 4.) draw in a couple octaves of notes with the brush tool and stack the notes vertically. 5.) mute the notes and make them really short. 6.) now hit the collapse icon at the top of the midi editing window

Sometimes I clip tracks on purpose but most of the time when I start mixing I fix any clipping. I know some producers who clip on purpose so it probably just depends. In the YT videos, a lot of the time the thing I’m showing is an idea that’s pretty new and I haven’t fully mixed yet

But that's not at all what I did in Logic. Correct me if I'm wrong, but you can't CMD click 8 notes at once that are all different lengths, and make each note the same length by CMD clicking and dragging?
