I bought 2 solar marine 270 inflatables & 2 4hp 4-strokes to fish in saltwater. I'll check into safely getting more power out of them. Really only 1 speed
That sounds like my chainsaw that has about 5 horses and which I paid $110, what more since the saw has a power transmission lane I could make it such a boat briber for the same money. And as far as money is concerned, I paid a Honda 7.5 horse 10 years old and it works perfectly.
Put a prop on a weed whacker and a handle ! Minn Kota 2 prop works just fine and use stainless steel bolts and nuts, Make sure the prop end has grease fitting and grease eit every use !
I recently bought one of these little motors. What gear oil did you put in the prop crank case? Also how do you transport your motor? Do you leave it on the boat or do you lay it down in the pickup?
You're 196cc is also 4 stroke, this one is 2 stroke. 2 stroke will typically put out twice the HP than the same sized 4 stroke. So it could be around 5hp.
@@bombinni26you cannot judge horse power by displacement alone, the Chinese are generous with their ratings, take the predator 212cc , rated at 6.5 hp but slightly less power than the Honda gx160cc 5 hp that it clones. There is so much more goes into hp, like compression ratio, port size, carburetor jetting and even muffler design. This is a mower engine, a clone of a Honda gcv by the looks of it, that original hp rating included the blade which acts as a sort of flywheel and would cause it to rate a higher hp. If it says 4 I’d bank on 2.5 or 3 . But it looks like a good little engine for what it is.
@@seanperson2032 I have a similar motor, topped out at about 6, and I’ve had kayakers that were younger keep up with me. The benefit is not moving a muscle to get the same speed.
@ALEX ATKINSON kayaker's I'd believe, they are small narrow V hulled and designed to be paddled. But a flat bottom John boat? No way you're paddling that faster than 4mph.
Did you ever bend the governor bar so you could get full throttle? And if so have you had any issues because of it? I’m Considering buying this unit on Amazon. But another review on the item said same thing as you and he adjusted the governor bar. Thanks
they have grovement controls on motor stop it from revving at full thotter it rev up to 3k rpm unset of 6k rpm u can get away with it by bending adjustment
The irony is this thing is probably going to be more reliable than any of the fancy 5hp watercooled outboards. I don't know who came up with the idea of using seawater to water cool outboards but they need slapped it makes them extremely unreliable and fussy to maintain.
They came up with the idea because coolant is deadly to anything that is living. Smaller motors don’t really need to be water cooled but since they have those fancy covers on them they would be very unreliable if they weren’t water cooled. The large outboards definitely need to be water cooled do to how hot they run.
