To anyone divided between VR and triple monitor setup - you can and you WILL experience motion sickness with triple screen setup as well, especially if you do it right and use curved displays for all-around view. It's not the quality of the picture that causes it, it's the immersion and more specifically, the utilization of you peripheral field. However you will adjust and get used to it. It's the same story with VR. You brain simply needs time to adjust. Once you are adjusted though, the consistency and the lap times in VR are lightyears ahead of even the most advanced triple monitor setups and there is one simple reason - Depth of Field. The DoF perception in VR is on a whole another level. It's not even comparable. It's like comparing driving your car irl normally by looking through the windshield VS driving it looking at your onboard front camera or dashboard camera or any sort of camera, instead of using the visual information directly. Whoever tried it, knows what i am talking about. The downside of the VR is that it's getting really tiresome for a long race, thanks to your face being sealed in a box. Not much further than stuffing your entire head in a helmet though.

Can't handle the single word CC, man. It's ridiculous. Consider dropping it.

Understood, it’s a short video and uploaded to both shorts and TikTok and it’s quite hard to keep people engaged without it, next time I’ll change it up for the long form video. Appreciate the feedback tho

Great info & vid. Wouldn't complain if it was a bit longer (e.g. 7-12 mins), which would let you go into a bit more detail or add more of your own pearls of wisdom. Pedals. Would love a vid covering options across different price ranges, especially brake pedal. I had a g29, added the truebrake mod (mimics loadcell) which was a complete game-changer and a bargain. Now I've upgraded to the Simjack pro with the hard bushings but something feels off about the brake and my consistency is worse. Dunno if I should adjust, mod (different spring/bushings) or upgrade...and if upgrading, to what? What pedals are the sweet spot price/quality?

Appreciate the feedback that’s great, I’m trying to keep the content punchy and too the point but noted. Maybe the next video I’ll look at speccing a rig at different price points and where’s important to spend your money and on what. Thanks for watching again and I love all the feedback I can get!

Really enjoyed the video, would £2000 be enough to get a great sim?

100% sim racing can get expensive but with some smart shopping you can have a fantastic setup for £2000

excluding screens, any suggestions on gear in the range of 3-3.5k?
@TerriblyRacing
@TerriblyRacing 3 месяца назад
For 3k I’d go for a simmucube pro 2 £1200 An 8020 profile rig with seat £650 ish There’s loads of great pedals but I’d recommend spending around £500 on the p1000 pedals so you can add the haptics Wheel is very preferential but the Simagic GT Neo is the best Value for money by a mile £275

Idiotic comparison. Super ultrawide isnt middleground between triples and VR. Saying that VR is about dizzying effects is infuriating. Most people learn to handle VR very fast. Some people take some time, some people take a lot of time. But to say that VR has dizzying effects is like saying beer is bitter, so don't drink it. Many people who go VR, don't go back. I have HP Reverb G2 and a 7680 x 2160 pixels 57 inch screen. I'll take the VR 95 times of 100.

I know many people who can’t get on with VR, including myself, makes me feel extremely sick, just wanted to warn some people that it might not be for them

@@TerriblyRacing Not that it makes me feel sick, but the inconvenience of having it on your face, its weight and the sweat. Dropped it for triples and never regret it.

This all sounds nice, but being retired, I can't afford investing in all this new hardware just to do some SIM racing. If I vere younger and still working at Motorola, I might of gotten into allot of this, but most of the new stuff you talk about was not around back then. Plus why I do I need to buy this stuff if I don't do online competitive racing anymore. It would just be a waste of my money now upgrading to a fancy rig with all the bells and whistles. Now if I were to win the Lotto now, that would be a different story. Anyway thanks for the overview of racing rigs and hardware.

No problem bud, it doesn’t always have to be super expensive, I know a lot of this stuff is not cheap but you can find some good deals on Facebook for used rigs, if you need any help or advice don’t be afraid to reach out. Don’t forget to treat yourself from time to time, life is for living and I’m sure you deserve a nice rig!

@@TerriblyRacing Thanks allot for the advise. Recently I did upgrade my VR headset and have a Quest 3. Works well with SIM racing games. So it is a little bit at at time for me. Take care.
