Humble? Looks like the dude has had too much coffee before the shoot. Or he's just trying to get airborne. No offence, but the presentation looks very nervous...
I have the 22mm and the nifty fifety viltrox speed booster the m50 is a great inexpensive camera for photography a great step above the smart phone photography
@@baowzer6430 - The 32 mm on a crop sensor is a 51 mm equivalent (on a full frame), and is the best for portrait shots or any imagery requiring natural eye perspectives.
Excellent video. For newbies, really good tutorial to understand the basic differences between lenses. And it's nice that you're actually filming on the camera that people are interested in seeing. So many of these RU-vid videos film on a totally different camera than the one that you are interested in.
great video. thanks for sharing. my only rub would be that i personally don't like any glass that is above 2.8f maximum aperture for anything indoors without serious lighting. the usefulness and clarity of the image is just lost. There's like no control unless outdoors.
Yu Guan It‘s also my favorite lens but I think it‘s a good thing to have a zoom lens as a starter lens. So people who are just starting out can try different focal lenghts.
I have no idea what you just talked about because I'm a noob 🤔 LOL and I watched to the end and I just purchased this camera and am so excited to use it! I had the sonya6000 for 3 miserable years and I finally tossed it at the wall 😉😆
Thank you for this amazing video, really well explained. This video makes me easy to aprecciate the differences between the canon lenses, but I have to choose between 11-22 ef-m and 10-18 ef-s, because I think this two are pretty similar, so I appreciate any help. Thanks
Hi David. So for coming back so late. The lower the number gets, the more use see a difference. If you are looking for the widest one - go with the 10-18.
I appreciate you about your content and successful English. I am going to buy M50 and will use it in RU-vid channel, which lense do you advice me for most blurry background result?
Amazing, amazing video! Thank you so much. I wish you featured the 55-200mm or 32mm though :( I want to get a lens for portrait photography and I can’t seem to decide between the 50mm, the 32mm and the 55-200mm 💔
There is no 50 mm lens for m50, unless you mean adding in an adaptor. The 32 mm on a crop sensor camera, is a 51 mm equivalent on a full frame, which is perfect for portrait photography and vlogging. However, a telephoto lens like a 55-200 is also great for the flexibility in portraits and landscape/wildlife/street photography. So if you want to do portraits outside and want to include nice backgrounds, then go with the telephoto. If you suspect that you're likely to do most of your portraits indoors where you have better control over lighting, then get the 32 mm. You can always add a speed booster or telephoto extension if you wanted to expand your focal length or get more compression. Or just save up for the 55-200 mm (or the 32 mm if you decide to buy the telephoto lens first). There's no need to build up your kit all at once, unless you're already working professionally full-time. Btw my sister's name is Nura :)
Can I use the Kit lense I got with my T3i on the M50? Or would I have to buy the adapter to do that. I guess at that point, I should just get the M50 with the kit lense.
Yes! Also good. With the 100mm you can come reeeeally close but it‘s also depending on your budget. I would go for the 50mm lens first. Costs a fraction of the 100mm and it‘s always good to have a 50mm in your stock 🙌
Well there are lenses made only for the M-Mount. But if you want to use your other lenses, you have to have an adaptor. You see, it’s the same with the power plug (generally speaking). If you want to plug in your device overseas to powerplug you need an adaptor.

What is your opinion on the 22mm lens? I am keen to purchase the m50 with the 22mm lens but for shooting photos showcasing outfits for instagram. So whole body shoots. Any advice you have ? Thanks
Which lens will be best for indoor speech shoot? My shoot is in jan 15 but im still confused..plzz help me..im going with m50 but no idea about lens..help
@@yoyo-qz8tr @yo yo Well, since you were saying that you will go with your M50 I was assuming that you have at least the kit-lens. Most people watching have a kit-lens or at least a set of lenses and now they want to add another...This is why I'M asking. However, there are some other variables you have to consider when shooting indoors: good lighting, sound (since it's a speech) and you have to decide if you want to record yourself from your chest upwards or if you want to show your whole body. The 22mm is a good lens, especially in low light situations. If you're interested in mics, I made a video about this too: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-T5dBOrCYvHY.html
Amazing review! I have owned a Canon G7X for many years now and learned how to use it to its maximum potential, but there are definitely some limitations that the Canon M50 unlocks with ease. May I ask how is the 22mm for vlogging? I've always enjoyed having the ability to vlog at any time of day/night, and with a stunning 1.8 aperture lens, the G7X did it like a champ. My only concern is that the 22mm would sit too close to the face to get a decent range of view. What do you think?
This was an amazing video! I used to love doing landscape photography when I was in my early 20s. Now with a wife and 2 kids, I stumbled onto a video of my 6 year old doing a youtube style review of his favorite video games while his 4 year old brother did a decent job holding the ipad steady. His eyes lit up when I broke out my old Canon XTI. With the nifty 50 and my beloved 17-55 2.8f. I'm thinking the m50 might be small enough I actually take on vacations and I can over see my son getting an early start on vlog or photography. Hows the autofocus with fast moving sports?
Such a lovely story! Hope you and your kids will discover together the magic of video and photography. Well the M50 has the famous Canon Dual Auto Focus which is amazing. Still depends also on the lens you‘re using.
@@ickypowwow6635 no, I'm getting myself a camera for my family and he can start learning with it. Went a different route and grabbed a gopro hero 7 at Costco when the 8 came out at 197.99. He's gotten really good doing stop motion movies with his legos
I saw your video 5 years ago! I have my first lens because of your recommendation 😊. I want to do wildlife photos (when I go hiking 😬 and I see a bird o any animal around) with this camera . What lends do you recommend? 🙂
I don’t remember you mentioning the M50 1.6x crop factor which affect a lens DOF. I.E the 50 mil is no longer a 50mil but a 80 mil (50x1.6) when attached to the M50 with the adapter. Great work !
You are so right! I have no idea why I didn‘t mention that anywhere in the video. Happy you‘ve pointed this out. I think it‘s time to male another video exactly about this 😊🙌 Thanks for watching 🚀
the samyang 8mm justifies this professionally as a second camera always ready, the 11 to 22 for travel stills and an adapted 135 f2 for long lens stuff
Best review! Really informative and thorough. I was very confused with all the lenses cuz I am just a beginner in photography. Now it’s clear to me. Thanks so much!
I'm just waiting for amazon to deliver my m50 and for sure this video made my next lens purchase easier, I'm getting both 22mm and 50mm for f2.0 and f1.8.
Hey mate. Love the video. Really informative as I’ve just bought an M50. The camera is incredible for the price. I traded it in for my 70d purely for the size. You’re super likeable. Keep the videos coming 👍
Hey Jay! Thanks a lot for your nice comment. Really appreciate that you took your time and wrote under my video. Which lenses do you use or are you planning to use?
Metin Senler No problem at all. I like what you’re doing. After watching your video I’m definitely going to get the 22. I already have a few other various lens that I’ll use with an adaptor, but I was curious about the 22.
Hi Metin. Thanks very much for this. I think that this would be really useful for a lot of people. I just wanted to note (for people who may not know) that the focal length of the lenses is given relative to full frame cameras, but - for the Canon M50, with a crop-factor of 1.6 - the effective focal length of each lens is almost doubled - e.g., the 'Nifty Fifty' 50mm f 1.8 in your review is actually giving more of a 'look' closer to the kind of angle and compression that a 100mm lens would give on a full-frame camera. I really like the M50's kit lens (even though it could be sharper), and when I used to shoot 35mm in the old, pre-digital days, I always used a 28mm (not a 50mm) as my standard lens. So the 15-45mm kit lens approximates a 28mm at its widest angle of view. I just wish that it could open wider than f 3.5.
Hey mate, I love the way you've presented this video you've really shown everything in such a useful way, top job with this, I'm super keen to try a few of these out, killer video, Great job
After talking with a few Canon Specialists on www.canon.co.uk/canonlive/live-chat I realised a 15-150mm lens would work better with my Canon M50 as I travel a lot and I dont really want to switch lenses. I got to say the L lenses work great with the adaptor!
Great Video i am so glad that you have made this video i did have the 77d which i did like very much but i took on holiday with me to Thailand and i found it very heavy to carry round so i sold it , i did have interest the canon M50 but the only thing what put me of was having to buy the adapter now i have seen this video it has given me a good idea thanks again for a great video full marks.
Hey can you go out and shoot some photos with all those lenses. Same photos but with the different lenses and do a comparison and explain where/ how far you’re standing, what you shot it with how you arranged it in the menu/settings etc.
Great review! That's the information and confirmation I needed! Can't do much with that camera if your going to use it for filming . It makes the 10mm look like an 18mm on a crop sensor. A can know call the Canon M50 a double crap camera . Sorry its "Double Crop"...
Question , using the m50 , can you use the 15 - 45 mm kit lens with the speed booster, also do you need the adapter to use the 50 mm and the wide angle lens he used in the video?? im kinda lost, thanks
@@thesetoppicks Hi there! yes! I believe you can use the 15-45mm kit lens with the speed booster, though I recommend you to do more research before buying one. Also, yes you do need to use an adapter to use the lenses that are not specifically made for M50. For example, the 50mm is an EF lens while my 55-200mm is an EF-S lens; the M50 has an EF-M mount so you can only use EF-M lenses without an adapter. In essence, you can use any lenses on the M50 as long as you put an EF-M adapter on it.
@@thesetoppicks I've just checked that lense on Amazon and it is an EF-S lense, therefore you're gonna have to use the adapter mount to use it on M50 :)
I was looking at this kit because it has a few low light options: 1. 11-22mm 2. 22mm f2 3. 32mm f1.4 4. 100mm f2.8 5. 50mm f1.8 Coming from Fuji every camera outside of the a7SII seems to struggle in comparison. It’s one reason I use Fuji for photography. But Canon has it locked down for video.
That 32mm f1.4 is under rated. No one ever mentions it. It's the true nifty fifty when using an aps-c crop sensor camera. It gives the 50mm focal length equivalent everyone recommends.
Wow just so you know 2 years later this video still helped someone! Im buying the m6 mii and needed to know which vlogging lens and which food photography lens and this helped, thanks!
@@artisticboundaries Aw, thank you! and yes, @philly2_flyy. I'm just staring social media like I am youtube so only 1 post but more coming. thanks for your comment💕

T’was a great vlog, very informative! 👏 I have my canon eos M50, I’ve decided to start having a travel and food vlogs. I want to have a crisp look and blurry background that 15-45 mm can’t. Can I have a suggestions from you what lens will I buy?.
Thanks for watching! Well, the 22mm prime lens is actually a really good bet. I’ll make a video about it quite soon so stay tuned and also check out other videos here about the 22mm. There are some great RU-vidrs covering it 👌
Simple is best. Love the way you just compared all the lenses one after the other. I'm 110% confident about what lens to buy. I'm looking to buy the equipment needed to make my own youtube videos next week. I spent two days watching tons of videos about lenses. But your one hit the nail on the head. Ps, my camera is going to be the Canon M50.
Thanks a lot watching. Happy to help! I‘m currently working on some more easy to understand lens reviews. Would love to read your opinions on them soon 🙌
? I have the m50 with the lens that comes with the cámara and I like I make car detailing video so I will like to know which lens to use with the adapter what you can recommend me? Thanks
Thank you it's helpful review. I want ask you please help😥 I'm using canon m50 with kit lens like you but how you can get this brightness and quality is good what is your setting for camra? Also how you can get the good quality after you upload the video to RU-vid? Please help me 💔
I used the kit lens 15-45 for about one day. It is complete and utter crap. Focus is slow and it back focuses constantly. The only M lenses that I have found to be any good are the 35mm f/1.4 and the 22mm f/2. The variable apertures can stay on the shelf. Get a speed booster and canon EF lenses.
This video really helped me getting a handle on using some various lenses on the M50. How do you feel the M50 rates vs the iPhone XS Max for video - other than the ability to use various lenses of course? I have an XS Max and have been super impressed with the video capabilities using Filmic Pro video app. How much, if any, of an improvement in video quality would I see with the M50?
The Sigma contemporary lenses are excellent. The EF lenses with a focal reducer are also nice. I see f1.0 with my 85mm Canon lens. I don't like any kit lenses for the M series. The 22mm ef-m lens is good, but none of the other ef-m lenses that I tried produced pleasing results.
Hi all! Just published a video about the tripod I'm using in this video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-GeQYLYJ4tlk.html More coming tripod videos coming soon! 🚀
What lens do you recommend for sit down videos? For a beauty/makeup channel. A lens with the most depth of field. And also for photography. I like pictures and videos with a good depth of field?
Canon 10-18mm is an APS-C lens, this is called EF-S 10-18 and not EF 10-18 With the Canon 100mm lens it would be 160mm because it is a full format lens and you have to add the crop factor of 1.6
Very Cool Stuff. I just started with video this year and also decided to go with the M50. I love this little camera! Talk about a surprising package especially considering what you'll pay for one when compared to the "big timer cameras". I know it has it's drawbacks but I don't care, I'm learning to use what I got and this thing has a lot for it's price point. These are the lenses I use, all Canon: EF-S 10-22mm, EF 85mm f/1.4L, and EF 100mm f/2.8L Macro. M50 USER'S UNITE!!!!!!
Hey guy, thanks for your video is useful for guiding people through your practical testing of favorite Canon Lenses. My default M50's standard zoom using the EF 17-40mm f4L USM lens with EF-M mount adaptor. For the sake of lightweight in daily shooting/vlogging, I always use Canon EF-M 11-22mm f/4-5.6 IS STM Lens for vlogging and EF-M 22mm f2 STM for indoor for low light photo/video.
Hi Metin. I have a question. Why'd you choose to use the 10-18mm over the native ef-m 11-22mm? What are it's advantages over the smaller ef-m lens? Thanks!
Good question! Well I already had the EF to EF-M lens adapter. So the 10-18mm is cheaper and starts at 10mm and is also very light (240g vs 220g with the 11-22mm). But that’s actually it. The biggest plus to the 11-22 is that the lowest is at f4.0 compared to the 10-18mm which start at f4.5. So if price doesn’t matter: go with the 11-22mm 😊
@@MetinSenler thanks for the reply and your input, appreciate it so much. I'm planning to buy a Canon M50 and do not own a 10-18mm yet. So I will probably go with the 11-22mm lens. Thanks!
Awesome! I didnt quite catch it, but if I get the Camera Lens 50mm F1.8 STM/0570C005 Canon, do I still need to get an adapter? I'm looking for my M-50 camera.
Great Review! I’ve been looking for lenses that fit my canon M50 but couldn’t find any thanks to your review I am now about to purchase the adapter and some lenses! Take a look at my channel I have recorded with the canon M50! Thanks!
Can you do a video comparing a 15 to 16 mm focal length lens and a 22 mm focal length lens at arm’s length, on a gimbal, for vlogging purposes? Great video btw.
I just got the M50 for my birthday with the kit lense, so i'm basically just starting over since not done any photography for years & want so much to get back into it, love your video & info on lenses, particularly want a recommendation for good zoom lens, i like to photograph wildlife.
