@@markwiemels Of course, now it's just a waiting game to get off back order. I ended up getting the 11-22mm and the 55-200mm how do you feel about that pairing? I know I'm missing a small focal length but i feel the 55 is smoother than the 18
@markwiemels
@markwiemels 2 года назад
@@caelandelgiudice2661 I think it’s the most interesting of the focal length coverage. The really wide, and really telephoto, are shots that most phones can’t get. So working in those focal ranges is a point of difference. If I could only have two lenses, that setup would be in very strong contention. You can pick up the 15-45 or 18-55 on eBay for under $100.

This content is top notch content from B-Roll to everything no sugar coating and he actually used them all to give real insight. I’m gonna look into that Viltrox 23MM F1.4 lens because Atleast 70% of my videos are filmed at night and the kit lens isn’t cutting it. I’m tired of that sort of grainy footage, the viltrox will be perfect to go along with my led light .

I recently picked up the 55-200mm lense and it is my favorite so far. I do a lot of wildlife photography and this has been such a help. I had picked it up after finding an osprey nest off of an old highway and I wasn't able to get close enough with the 15-45mm lense that came with my M200 to get a good shot of the osprey in it's nest. I still haven't caught it in it's nest since getting the lense but I keep going back every week to try. I've gotten many other great shots with it since I've been using it though. I love it.

As another M6 MkII user, I really appreciate all your excellent and practical videos. Based on this video, I picked up the Rokinon 12mm f2 and a vintage Helios (with speed booster) and they're both wonderful. I'll just add one other for your consideration -- I recently got the Mitakon Zhongyi Speedmaster 35mm f/0.95 for M-mount for $300 and just love it. A manual lens but sharp in the centre wide open and by pushing down that f-stop really achieves the equivalent look of 56mm f1.4 on full frame with buttery smooth background bokeh -- a perspective which up until now has been elusive and not achieved by my Canon 32mm f1.4. Despite that our M system is likely going the way of the dodo, I now feel no pressure to upgrade for a full-frame look and have the sweet spot for quality on a budget. Thanks again for your work.

I bought me a M50 mark II with the 180-150mm zoom as the kit lens. This is such a useful range. I didn't go for the 15-45 and 55-200 kit because from my older days working with prime lenses I know that one always has the wrong lens on the body. Whatever I had on the camera was either just too short or just too long. The 18-150 doesn't give me such problems. I also bought the 11-22mm because I got it at an excellent price, new at 2/3 of the price. I am very happy with everything. It is an amazing camera. I especially like the size, low weight and versatility.

Canon 18-55 for an all arounder, Viltrox 23mm for low light (or canon 22mm, cheaper but not as good in low light). Then one more based on what your needs are, 16mm sigma (wide low light), 11-22mm canon (very wide with image stabilisation), or 55-200mm for telephoto.

Mark, Thanks for the run through on the 16 lenses reviewed in this video and he ideas where each best fits a particular use. Some of these I will be taking a look at as all of the lenses that I have for my M50 are stock Cannon EF-M lenses. I guess my only version 2 video request would be that the lenses be split talking about those with the native camera mount, then those requiring an adapter and may be a plug for a good adapter. I say this because I had to scrub back and for the to determine whether an adapter was being used or not. The other question I have is whether there are are additional lenses that could be considered as part of the toolbox if using a speed booster as opposed to an adapter, i.e., the Viltrox Speed Booster for the EOS M50.

@markwiemels
@markwiemels 3 года назад
Yah that sigma 56 looks really good. Yes, you need an adapter for the Sigma 18-35mm. The M6 II is practically a cinema camera with that lens in it, the images are stunning.

I get these “what lens” questions a lot, and it can really depend on lots of other factors, but the EF-M 28mm macro is the one that jumps out at me for your purpose.

Do a video on the manual lenses and how you shoot with them, like the Rokinon 12mm f2, on the street, landscape, portrait, and astro. Would be a good video, that could be useful with manual mode on autofocus lenses as well.

Thank you for this in-depth review. Your images from the Helios are very cool! I love the old school feel it gives. As often happens I dove down the rabbit hole for the Helios 44M lens and watched a bunch of videos to get up to speed. Just ordered one on eBay with your link. Once it arrives I’ll order the adapter (with your link as a way to support your work.) BTW the title description on screen is listed at 52mm not 58mm.

With my M50, I use the Canon 22mm f/2 lens, the Canon 55-200mm and the sigma 56mm f/1,4. It's a great and light combo. And sometimes, I use EF lenses on it with a speedbooster.

Hi! I personally have a 22mm f2 for trips and I'm wondering to go for the 56mm f1.4. I wanted to take pictures from people in some distance and also for cars... Do you think 56mm is better than 55-200mm? I don't know which one I have to pick, thank you in advance!
@apislapis

Thank you for sharing your collection of lenses Mark, that was superb and informative. I don't quite have the number of lenses available to my M50 as you but I'm getting there. Instead of the Canon 32mm F1.4, for cost I chose the Sigma 30mm f1.4 as it was about 60% the price of the Canon. I also bought the Sigma 56mm f1.4 for portraits. I also own an SL3/250D so with an adapter I can use the EF/EF-S lenses that I have for my SL3 like the 10-18mm f4.5-5.6, EF-S 24mm f2.8 & Sigma 17-55mm OS f2.8 at a push.

Love it. My 22 2.0 lives on my camera. It’s nice to know that of the lenses I have purchased you said you’d never sell. I’ve been thinking about getting a speed booster to get close to full frame with EF glass to keep my m200 alive for years to come; what is your opinion on speed boosters?
@markwiemels
@markwiemels 3 года назад
I have been working on a video about the speed booster. You loose sharpness, and add some distortion, in exchange for more light and more background blur. It's more of a creative choice, and not for pixel peepers, it does give a dreamy vintage lens like image, which is pretty cool. So it's an interesting creative choice to have, but its not for everyone, and it does not turn an APS-C camera into a full frame equivalent. Overall I have mixed feelings about it. The best thing to do is look at some full resolution sample images online and see if you like that "look"

Hi, yes I have used that lens, but the copy I used was very soft and gave mildly blurry images. I have seen other reviews of this lens and their copies appeared to be excellent and very sharp. I think this is an amazing lens, just make sure you get a good, sharp, copy.

a couple i have that you didn't mention that might be of intreast to M mounters, laowa 9mm 2.8 zero d : canon efm 18-150mm highly recommend that for beginners interested in photography vs the 15-45, i have much bigger ef sigma glass and vintage lenses but thats extending out into huge array of what available i use the M50 for quite a few different genre of photography, mainly wildlife a killer vintage lens is the taukumar 55mm 1.8, the ones you have mentioned that i don't have and will take a closer look at are the 6.5mm and the helios 44m, great vid and thanks for posting on canon m50 user group on facebook i have small hands so the M50 is a good fit for me and i think it handles the big ef 400-800mm lenses very well, i also love its small compact size on its native lenses, two cameras in one

The Lowa 9mm is an amazing lens, the only copy I have had in my hands was a bad/non-sharp copy, which has put me off trying it again. I hope to own a sharp copy of that lens some day, the FOV is amazing. I almost brought an 18-150 the other day, it could be the best do it all lens for the mount, buy all reports its' an excellent lens. I have the Taukumar 135mm and really like it, will keep an eye out for the 55.
