The straw was meant for the Shamrock Milkshake. The milkshake had two layers and the straw had two holes so you can drink both layers at once.

The straw is for the Shamrock shake and there are different holes so you can taste every layer of the shake, so you can better understand, think of it like a shake that is like a burger, there are layers and every layer has a diggrent taste, lettuce, tomato, bun, patty, ect. The straw has holes at a higher and lower position so it can get every layer at once.

If you want to see a tray, get a drive up car hop meal at White Spot in Canada. Due to inclement weather they have a tray that goes inside the car from door to door in the front seat and you roll up the windows and eat. This was a few years back when we ate at the one at the north end of the Lions Gate Bridge in Vancouver.

You're supposed to use the straw to stir the milkshake around, which softens the beverage and gets the milkshake caught in the straw through the holes, which means you should be able to always drink some with every sip.
