I've been a Physiotherapist for 40 years and Taro has given me a new swathe of exercises for my patients... and given me a new enthusiasm for my profession. I love this guy ❤. Well done Taro for bringing Feldencrais to the world.
Taro, just recently discovered your work and online offerings which I appreciate very much. Thank you for your generosity in offering so much helpful guidance. All good wishes for the New Year!
Taro, thank you. This is the best! I've noticed that babies and animals always stretch the whole body upon awakening. This is something adults cease to do early on. Even though I'm aware, I always forget to stretch upon awakening; especially given all the aches and pains. This routine serves the same purpose as stretching, but much more gently and is easy to incorporate in my daily routine BEFORE getting out of bed! Thank you.
warming my body up in bed has really helped me counter depression. its so easy for the body to just lay in bed and feel comfortable when your mind doesnt want to get up. but one day i started just moving my ankles (thinking about a patient i used to work with) and after a couple minutes i truly felt a little more awake and could convince myself more easily to get up. i think with this i can expand my little morning routine into something even more effective so thank you. (and yes i know theres more to depression than just that but my sleeping pattern was a huge struggle for me personally)
Thank you for your honesty! I love how Taro’s exercises help me move so much better at 72. You might check out Dr Gabor Maté, whose videos have helped me compassionately understand and heal my lifelong depression, ADHD and addictions! Best wishes!
Every video i come to just seems to get better and better i’ve never seen any if these stretches from all the other videos of watched from other creators, and i’ve also never seen stretches as effective as yours before ty very much for the free knowledge
I have probably commented before, but I found your video one of the first days you had it out. I was looking for something to help me wake up gently and with enthusiasm in the mornings… I tried this and was sold from the very first morning, and I’ve been doing it most mornings ever since. You have such a wealth of understanding about moving the body in the most beneficial ways … Thank you so much for all you do to help us. I look forward to waking up and being with you morning after morning… Blessings on you! 🙏🏽😘🥰
Your video on how to unlock the spots muscle, gentle rotation of the legs, has REALLY helped me, my knees are actually much ‘freer’ because of that stretching. THANK YOU SO MUCH
Thank you. I seek this knowledge not only for myself but for those I serve and support. It is the key to range of movement and function in areas of participation. These principles can be applied across life span and in every BODY. I appreciate it has no stigma or requirement in order to be effective. Straight forward direct quality of movement to increase function. May God bless you and I thank him for helping me to find your practice.
Taro, this exercise is great for the whole body in the morning. I do this exercise for 2 weeks, it's great, i will continue to do this every morning. Thanks for this video!
wow, doesn't take much to feel super fresh getting out of bed. My "daily must do" for sure. thx. revelation: A health-focused regiment doesn't need to be harsh or austere to feel great
Thank you, I just discovered your channel and I am very much enjoying the thoughtful and effective exercises so far. I’m grateful too that your description of the movements is complete enough that I don’t have to continuously look at my screen!
That was great! I was just going to message you about suggesting a routine of different exercises to do daily to prevent low back pain and sciatica. Have you recorded any you can suggest? To relearn how to move I’ll need a routine to do everyday… Thank you.
Always had hip problems and diagnosed with Bursitis at 20. I'm very active and do Yoga to stay flexible but does nothing to help the pain. These first 2 movements have completely changed the pain level in my back. I still have constant pain on my Iliad crest. Any ideas?
i cannot say what and why but it may be related to how you use your hips and back, possibly overusing lower back instead of using hips. my lateral pelvic tilt videos may provide some insights for you.
Merry Christmas Taro! Really appreciate your sharing of this wisdom here with us💗May you and your family be always filled with joy and love. Have a wonderful 2022!
I was already doing some of these every morning but now I can add the rest to complete the mobilization all the way to my head. Thanks very much Taro. I love this methodology and wish that I had a teacher closer but you’re definitely the next best thing.
I really need to try this. I'm so not a morning person and I have to get up early. Maybe this will help getting awake and ready for the day. Also I've recently watched your Release Neck & Shoulder Tension in 30 seconds Video and now I do this everytime I feel my shoulders start to get tense (normally during or after work) and it works wonders! Thank you so much!
And it's ok not to be a morning person. It's an evolutionary thing from when we lived in tribes. Having early risers and night owls meant there was very little time when the tribe wasn't protected by an awake human. You're obviously one of the night-time guards watching over the tribe ❤
Thankyou Taro. That is a really effective warm up routine. I'm sending it to my brother in law who has had a bad back for decades but still incorrectly believes stretching is the answer and doesn't think he can invest 15 minutes to do "the lazy archer" etc
I love your exercises and have been using several of them for specific issues. I am wondering if you have an overall daily exercise routine to keep the entire body aligned and fit? Thank you.
I love those exercises on bed. Can we do on the floor along with other exercises? Should we change our mattress every ten years? Can old mattress cause back pain? I feel good on my old mattress, but I cannot tell that it will support my back or make my back curve down. Thank you.
yes you can do on the floor along with other exercises. Everyone has a preference for a type of mattress. If your old mattress is serving its purpose for you (provide quality sleep), then i guess it's good!
Does exercising on the bed disform the spine and body since the mattress is softer than the floor? I like to exercise on bed because I do not postpone. As soon as I wake up, I exercise right away on bed. Plus I do not have to clean the floor and the mat.😊 Thank you.
Generally I prefer to practice movement on a firmer surface but i made this routine for people to do in the bed when they wake up so perfectly fine to do this in bed
@@TaroIwamoto thanks. I do in bed some exercises when I wake up because I sometimes do not exercise when I put my feet on the floor because I have many things to do. But I will make an effort to exercise on floor also. Thank you.
I just bought a book called "Relaxercise" earlier this week and this video pops into my recommendations. Thank you for sharing your work and knowledge with us.
This sort of "exercise" is great. Something to do easily and daily without just as part of a normal daily routine. Exercise NE what you do in a gym. Exercise = what you do in daily real life to keep you healthy for life
I really like the way rolling over feels on my back and was glad to see the proper instructions here. I hope you’ll consider doing more rolling movements videos. Also wanted to ask you about head position when rolling. Should I keep my head down chin tucked keeping contact to ground or should I lift head up when rolling?
What a great way to start the day and ease out of bed. We all need to make the time. Wish I could’ve done that voluntarily all along instead of pain being my main motivation. Thanks for showing gentle movements and slight stretches perfect for morning stiffness. So many months of your videos to watch, several catching my eye. Wish I could take a health hiatus and focus full-time on wellness.
Happy New Year coming up, Taro. Thank you for this video! I am hopeful it will help me. I have a minor concussion with some neck consequences. I would appreciate any additional advice you can offer. Thank you.
MY ONLY criticism of your brilliant work is, sometimes you have sound differentials in your audio editing and I am dealing with majorly intense nervous system from dealing with George Washington's ( false teeth) . the things smanging my jaw, and thank you for your series on tmj by the way, top notch, cause me to experience vertigo like hearing, for lack of better word, flux. when you leave a discrepancy in audio, I hear it, trying to relax and then immediately panic because I think I moved wrong, when in fact it was just the mistake in your audio. LET ME BE CLEAR. I LOVE WHAT YOU DO AND YOU DO NOTHING WRONG, IN FACT THE LAST FEW MONTHS I OWE , MOST OF MY CORRECTIONS TO YOUR TEACHINGS. SO, please take this advice from my world, and fix this so that folks like me might not have to suffer anxiety that is completely our fault, by the way, not blaming you for my reaction to what you did, am however providing constructive criticism that it not, please, happen again. flowaebushidoruh.
Thank you very much for taking the time to provide your feedback. I'm learning to equalize audio levels right now. There's so much more to learn, so I'm taking one small thing at a time. I promise I will eventually get this right! I understand audio quality in video is probably the most important aspect. Thanks again for your support!
@@TaroIwamoto a decent pair of headphones and your favorite snack plus a free audio mixing software and you are Golden. looking forward to your work in the future. proud to say after a week we can a do "proper" squat, albeit on a mattress, without falling over. hoping to graduate to wood floors soon. all thanks to your teachings
Hi Taro I recently discovered your amazing channel. I was already doing stretches but stopped due to an agravation of my issue. I have had amazing results in less than one week. Thanks for being so thorough in your videos.
