The Great thing about this type of follow up and review is that it pushes these companies to improve their products and pushes them to be honest about the performance 🎭

Pan, thank you for the honest review. Feedback helps us improve. Of course we are disappointed you didn't get the results you were looking for and we know this was a worst case scenario, like you pointed out. The fact is, proper maintenance and vehicle care will ensure the longevity of any coating you put on your car-even a ceramic coating. Continually running windshield wipers over glass that's covered in grit and grime is simply going to degrade the protective layers over time. To get the most out of any ceramic coating, we recommend at a minimum that drivers regularly clean their windshield with Invisible Glass. And, as Pan mentioned, using our Invisible Glass Hybrid Ceramic spray once every two or three months as a "topper" is a great way to protect and extend the life of any ceramic coating. We will continue improving our products and providing value to our customers. It's what we've always done and will always do. It's also why we stand behind our products by offering our money-back guarantee. Pan, thanks again! And, we hope your brother will discover the joys of detailing now that he's got a garage to call his own. 🙂

I just recently applied Soft99 Ultra Glaco to all the glass surfaces on my mum's car and it's so super hydrophobic👌🏻. Literally no need for wipers especially when doing highway speeds. Stoner will probably in the future catch up to it's competition in terms of long term durability👍🏻. Great video Pan❤, absolutely love it when you make videos with Andy👍🏻.

After watching your video on applying the Stoner ceramic glass coating, I bought the package with glass cleaner, stripper and ceramic coating. I used it on my vehicle at the end of August, so it would hopefully last through the winter. I live in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, on the shore of Lake Superior. Our winters will definitely give it a workout, as it is parked outside all year. I will update you in the spring. Thanks for doing these great updates!👍

@@PanTheOrganizer March 20th, so far so good! Snow and ice is definitely easier to clean off. Driving in the rain is quite the experience too. The water just blasts off the windshield. I also coated my headlights. I’m going to wait until the end of summer and buy another kit to repeat the process, this time I will be doing my brothers new car at the same time. This time I will wait 2 years to see if it wears off, but I do have to say I am impressed with the product. 👍

The idea that a glass coating is going to last with the use of wipers is not practical. I use gyeon quickview, works great, couldn't be any easier and fast to apply. Who cares if I need to spend 10 min every few months and I'm not worried about using the wipers and wearing down the coating. Some things aren't worth trying to achieve, like a long term tire coating, when it takes seconds to apply it fresh each wash.
@RaghuKannan
@RaghuKannan 9 месяцев назад
Same, I use glaco q for the same reason, easy to apply. As a plus, it works from slightly lower speeds as well.
@Pearlmikejam
@Pearlmikejam 9 месяцев назад
I have been disappointed with Quickview. I also use the Glass + for maintenance and while the sheeting is nice, there is always a film on the windshield or streaking. That alone will prevent me from repurchasing. Other products like the Last Coat are much clearer and provide the same hydrophobic properties.

Thank you Pan, thank you Andy... big fan of (‘Boston Bruins’) Hockey, I got to see my first Montreal Bruins game in Montreal last year. What a terrific venue, loved it and look forward to going up to Montreal again. As far as glass coatings go, I’ve always used believe it or not…… Rain-X applied to the glass and with the Rain-X all season 2-in-1 windshield washer fluid being used solely. Living in the Northeast of the US especially in the winter with salt application on the road surfaces. The product seems to keeps its water shedding properties longer with the reapplication of the Rain-X washer fluid.... every time I need to spray the windshield its reapplied. Twenty-four years of use on multiple vehicle’s and I’m still impressed. I believe it’s the reapplication of the product in the form of the washer fluid that really can contribute to the lasting durability of that first application of the product from the bottle.

I did a full paint correction on my 2017 BMW 330E and then did Armor Shield IX with 2 coats including the glass. It's been a few months and it's still awesome but to be fair, I do maintain the paint and glass regularly with the Armor Shield Lite. It's rained the past couple of days here in Oklahoma and the water beads are tight like they should be. Thumbs up from me.

Easy on and off with little to none streaking or film at wipe off. Water sheeting seems to be doing well. (For the two weeks so far) I have put it on all three of our vehicles. Thanks for the video Pan! I did a 50/50 on my own windshield with half being Gyeon Quick View and the other being Aquapel. I've been an Aquapel user for a long time, but I'm always looking for the latest and greatest! I applied them I'm the spring of 2022, so going on about 1 1/2 years. I washed my truck last night and I can tell the Gyeon side is definitely slowing down. There is still some there, but the Aquapel side is still going strong. Aquapel claims a 6 month durability, but I'm well over a year on it and I'd say it's still 85-90%. I live in Minnesota so I get cold, harsh winters much like you do in Canada. I think I might polish the windshield this spring and do a 50/50 with Aquapel and the Ultra Glaco and see how that goes.
@PanTheOrganizer

Wow that’s nuts. I never got more than 6 months with Aquapel in my conditions. But yes it’s a very good glass sealant and easy to apply.

Great to see Andy again! He looks like a pro hockey player himself. Assuming he played amateur level. Anyway, I applied Stoners on my wife BMW X3 M40. I had a similar experience. Perhaps it was due to living in Arizona. No real rain this year, just intense heat. Stoner only lasted 3 months before beading went away. Bummer given the cost of the glass cleaner plus the coating. Oh well!

Pan, thanks for the video. I put a ceramic coating on my windshield about 2 years ago. It is a garaged car and wipers run only when necessary. I current cannot get the glass to be totally clear/clean when I use a auto glass cleaner on it (I have tried several different glass cleaners with the same result). It looks like water spots on the glass, but I think it is ceramic and not water spots. I think I would be better off removing the ceramic from the glass. I was thinking about using a glass polish with a DA buffer to get the ceramic off. Do you think this will damage my windshield? Do you have a better suggestion? Thanks in advance for your help.
@PanTheOrganizer
@PanTheOrganizer 8 месяцев назад
Yes the best thing is to wash the car. Then clay the glass. Then machine polish using a glass polish, and glass polishing pad (rayon pad). Once done, use an IPA to remove polishing oils, and you can apply a better quality glass specific coating. This won't damage the glass at all. Glass is much harder compared to paint. So zero worries. See my glass polishing tutorial: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-yMi5PtyqUI8.htmlsi=XlEorXdkBkxgLN0a

Hi Pan! I’ve been a fan and subscriber of your channel for over a year. I really enjoy your in depth coverage of detailing practices. I currently work for a taxi company that retains the vehicles after shift, and does pressure water spraying to clean the exterior. I don’t care about the body paint, but the windows and mirrors are terrible, very much a safety issue. What would be the fastest and cheapest method for making the glass usable? I’m mainly concerned about the windshield, front driver and passenger windows, and driver and passenger mirrors. Driving in the dark in the rain in these vehicles is horrendous. Rain droplets cling to the glass, along with months+ old water spots that are so ridiculous - the water spots have water spots. I cleaned one cabs front glass the other day with Invisible Glass, but it left behind much of the water spots. Had the same cab today and it’s not as bad as it was before, but the mirrors especially have reaccumulated water spots from the lousy pressure washing. I imagine I need a cleaning product, and a protecting coating product. It needs to be as quickly done as possible. Like 5 minutes is 6 minutes too long.

The easiest and simplest DIY way is to first glass stripper compound to polish the glass to remove water spots and contamination, and then apply a proper glass coating. See my full tutorial here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-usdM-TrT7fg.htmlsi=zJwe3vYpuqHi0_yJ After the first polishing step, if the water spots are still there, it means they etched the glass a lot, and you'll need to step up to a more professional glass polishing and coating like in my video here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-yMi5PtyqUI8.htmlsi=9UOg4OCf9m0eaQy7 I hope this helps.

It's not recommended to mix regular waxes with ceramic based products, as you'd be masking the coating's superior performance and you can't guarantee a proper bond between waxes and coatings. Coatings usually end up rejecting the wax anyways. For maintenance of a coated car, use ceramic and graphene based products.

@Jagthunder1 I agree it is a pain in the ass to get right, but I feel I've got a good consistency of application now. If you fully clean your glass first, with a proper glass cleaner, I use Sprayway and then 2 sprays on the windshield, buff it off and then sprayway a couple light sprays of sprayway and another buff. If the glass is in good nick that should be plenty good enough. Although a lot of the ceramic based stuff is also good on glass and seems to naturally be less streaky in my experience.

I used NV Glass a while ago now, I didn’t really do any follow ups in videos with it, as it’s impossible for me to follow every single product I try it would be an impossible task. But NV coatings are usually very good. My favourite DIY glass coating to date is still Soft99 Ultra Glaco though. Stupid easy to apply, and lasts 10-12 months in my testing (I made a 10-month update video with it). But for any glass coating, you have to manage your wiper use. The whole point of having glass protection is to reduce the wiper use, as hydrophobic properties and windspeed will evacuate the water quickly. Wipers do mechanical abrasion when used and will inevitably wear down the coating if used too often. I hope this helps.

Per the Invisible Glass Ceramic Glass Coating Application Guide: Q: How long does Invisible Glass Ceramic last? A: One application will last over a year, ,,, The one degradation you may see is that your windshield wipers have the same effect as "weathering" because of their abrasive action, therefore the windshield coating will not last as long as the side windows. So, a year for panoramic sunroofs but less for windshields. YMMV ;-)

I'm a bit confused. When you guys say these products last up to 6 months or so (like Glaco 99 for example), i don't see this at all. No need for wipers for the first couple weeks, but after that until you're doing about 70 mph, the windshield isn't hydophobic enough to go without wipers. I want that year round. Even Rain-X will work for a week or so.... These products are pretty good, but honestly nothing has seriously lasted for me more than a few weeks. I've used Rain-X, Aquapel, Glaco. All pretty much the same....
@PanTheOrganizer
@PanTheOrganizer 9 месяцев назад
Durability depends on multiple factors: prep before the application (crucial to wash, clay, strip, IPA wipe), the application itself (so many people don't follow the instructions), weather where you live, mileage, maintenance, etc. Once you have a proper glass coating, you can't live without it. I know I sure can't. It's not meant to never use your wipers, it just helps a lot with using the wipers much less, as the hydrophobics do a lot of rejecting the water and having it fly off thus increasing clarity and visibility while driving in rainy weather. Soft99 Ultra Glaco, their flagship glass coating, has always given me 10-12 months of durability, and is still my favourite glass specific coating for DIY. I had a 10 month update here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-JYQjoLvO_Mo.htmlsi=mHanA9_ORtnIakeY But like any protection, different people live in different conditions and have different experiences with waxes, coatings, sealants, etc. Find one that works for you and stick to it.
@fccquoter19
@fccquoter19 9 месяцев назад
That's what I'm saying though Pan, what do you mean by durability? In my mind, I consider durability, a product acting like it does on day one, acting that way for a period of time. They just haven't made it more than a few weeks. I mean like Glaco 99, water flies off the windshield at 30-35 mph right away. That only lasts a few weeks. It progressively gets worse. It just is what it is. My expectations are just too high. I don't care what it costs, if it lasted for 6 months, I'd pay hundreds for that product. I just haven't seen it in the market yet.@@PanTheOrganizer
@PanTheOrganizer
@PanTheOrganizer 9 месяцев назад
We can go back and forth on what you think durability is, vs another person's definition. But it's generally accepted that "durability" is how long a product lasts on the surface it's applied to. That doesn't mean the performance will be 100% like day 1 all the way until the last day. That's impossible, as everything wears out with time, even your car's paintwork. But in my experience with Ultra Glaco, I can easily say it gives me 85-90% of the initial performance even 10 months into it. Some of my viewers in more gentle climates report 12+ months of super high hydrophobics, almost like day 1. That's impressive. But that doesn't mean every single individual has the same exact results. But I understand if your expectations are different. You're certainly entitled to have what ever expectations your hard earned money wants. If that's the case, you can splurge for a professional grade glass coating that has a 3 year claim, and is the best ever made. But it will cost way more compared to a DIY application, and it needs regular servicing. See my video here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-FPgRtq_HI2k.htmlsi=rgbF8gsrTh-2DsUb

Ease up on your brother Pan....Not everyone can be a detailing God such as yourself. 😆

Heheh that's just brotherly love. It was light humour. I can't possibly expect anyone to have standards as high as mine, or be as obsessive with detailing as I am. I'm in the 0.1% of the population that can talk about detailing all day, every day, haha.

I was lucky enough to be at the Habs’ season opener this year and was able to see Bedard the phenom! You guys have a potential generational player there. City must be happy!

I had applied Turtle Wax ceramic wax and coating on windshield. The problems I faced after that I never used any coatings on windshield are 1) Oily Slick which makes oncoming vehicles light reflect onto your eyes making driving very very difficult. 2) During rainy season hundreds of all small droplets on windshield produce glitters which again makes driving challenging. 3) Cleaning windshield with microfiber towel (without Windshield Cleaner) is close to impossible.

Next time, try a proper glass specific coating, like my favourite: Soft99 Ultra Glaco. ;)

Maybe if you would have follow the instructions of 2 coats it wouldn't be as bad as this, its still works 30 to 45% for only 1 coat, its kinda good, for sure you wouldn't have that with Rain X or Aquapel, just like you always says : FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS ON THE LABEL 😂😂 this time you didn't 🤣🤣

I mentioned clearly in the initial video that we were only applying 1 layer to test how 1 coat performs. As viewers are always curious, and so am I. Also, 2 layers are only "recommended", not required. BIG DIFFERENCE. If 2 layers were absolutely required, I would have applied 2 coats. When the second layer is only recommended, I like to apply 1 layer to see how that performs in real world conditions. Now we know that 1 layer won't last that long. Also, to that, I would like to add that more and more people are tired of multi-layer coatings, and we see more companies releasing 1 layer systems, for glass and paint. So I would really like to see an updated formula with just 1 layer required.
