I polished and coated wife’s blue print Highlander using 8+3 year stack. The metallic paint looks like it should have from factory. Amazing difference in look but slickness is crazy. Totally agree on the white paint. These coatings are very easy to apply as I'm a novice and managed to do both my truck and wife's SUV without issue.

I also two coats using less coating eacg application and them i don't worry about having leftover coating two light coats are better than 1 thick coat. Love your other coating its soo glossy

The geometric shape you use makes no difference to the coating. The goal is to evenly distribute it on the paint. We prefer circular motions because it reduces the chance of high spots.

@@iKone911 what was the surface temperature? We’ve never tested that clay lube.
@iKone911
@iKone911 3 месяца назад
@@diydetailofficial Gyeon is really good. Surface temp was probably around 80. I hadn't driven it. It's possible the angle of the area had something to do with it. Just under the front driver door where an edge is (2024 RS3). Problem is that clay would never do that. I took a pic of it. Always do when things go wrong.

@@diydetailofficial My next step was using the Gold Standard (polish and pad) and I noticed it was picking up some of the red dye left from the clay towel. My car is white and this happened after washing/rinsing the car, so the dye really sticks to the car I guess. It's a shame since the towel works well, but in no way can I justify using it again. $30 wasted.

I couldn't quite understand. Can you demo how you would remove the dust the next day? By the way, I couldn't see the pattern (if any) when applying the coating. What kind of special towel are you using to apply the coating? And what are the other towels type that will dry it? Are these throw away after, or are they washable? How many months/years of protection does this coating provide? Is one bottle enough to cover an suv or van or car? For maintenance, will future washes be done with incredible suds only? Thank you.
@diydetailofficial
@diydetailofficial 9 месяцев назад
If it gets dust the next day, don’t worry, don’t wash it for a week. On a white car it’s very difficult to see. We use a foam applicator to apply the coating. We use a pearl weave for the initial leveling, then a plush towel for the insurance wipe. The applicator and towels are washable. We offer 3, 5. And 8 year coatings One bottle covers on average 2 sedans. Washing can be done however you want.

17:00 I know you guys are doing a ceramic coat after drying but how do you not use a drying aid/lubricant as to avoid any marring? Or no choice at this point? I think there’s drying aids on the market that leave no protection behind. Any recs?

Once you actually try our system you will discover, like the thousands that have tried it, it doesn’t marr the paint. The Perforated Synthetic Decontamination Towel is not abrasive like clay.

Ceram' coating IS NOT THE ULTIMATE PROTECTION AVAILABLE ! IT, will only last 4-5 years........THE ONLY so-called ULTIMATE PROTECTION is .......PPF,,,,, paint protection film. YES it will cost twice as much as ceram' because it takes twice as long to install, BUT IT WILL PROTECT YOUR VEHICLE....... No need for ANY polishing as the film has a built in ULTRA shine. So easy to look after. MY MB looks fantastic with the film installed by the World leading company, XPEL.
@diydetailofficial
@diydetailofficial 8 месяцев назад
Agreed that PPF is great protection, and most PPF installers apply Ceramic Coating over PPF to protect it, and extend its longevity. Quality coatings will last much longer than 5 years. Coating technology is continually improving

Very few brand new vehicle paintwork look impressive when they reach their owners’ hands, where they dont require any polishing prior to using over-priced “coatings”. Before you go for an interview, is it necessary to take a shower and take steps to groom yourself? Actually,…no. But in reality, it is necessary and most people do it.

The key to putting a ceramic coating on is lighting. Obviously there are other things lol, but lighting is huge. I've only did it a couple times. The first time I did it outside because I don't have a bunch of lights in my garage. And I missed a bunch of stuff. You can think you have everything leveled down and wiped off, then the next thing you know you find five or six places you need to fix. It was so frustrating. Doing it in a garage with all of those lights above would be heaven lol. Excellent Video is always.

To avoid the high spots and drips/running you on the edges I have a solution. What I do is start with the circular spreading in the middle when you've just loaded up the applicator. That way you're not doing the edges when the applicator is its most saturated. Otherwise you tend to get that running. That way you can just keep working in circles right up to your edges spreading outward!

Have a new car 2 months old. Applied spray ceramic coatings like McGuires and Turtle wax along with a Iron wheel cleaner during the first 3 weeks of owner ship. There is not one scratch or swirl mark on the paint. Lots of orange peal but show me a new car that is not full of orange peal. Rather have an extra layer of clear coat than a paint corrected car. I live in Florida so sun use of products that don't like sun are not worth it. My question is I am happy with my car the way it is. Use of polishes and buffing in the past have always resulted in disaster. I keep my cars a long time. So whats the best way to just keep my car the way it is. I use a foamer and two buck method and spray rinse off products. Never heard of decontamination a new car until I started watching detail videos although it makes a lot of sense. I would image less than 5% of new car owners have their paint decontaminated. So whats the best way to keep the car just the way it is.

Interior ceramic- is that water based? Also, if you have a new car, what are your thoughts about just hand polishing after the necessary decon just to give a micron scale surface to allow the ceramic coating just to grab onto to give you slightly more longevity?
@diydetailofficial

It’s solvent based. You can hand polish.

In the video above, you did NOT include a spot remover stage in preparing the car for the ceramic coating. Yet I watched an other DIY Detail video yesterday about a simple process of ceramic coating a new Suburu which DID include a spot remover stage to clean out the pores of the paintwork. Is the spot remover stage an optional one for ceramic coating a new car with say less than 100 miles on it? Could you please clarify? Thanks again for all these great videos!
