Canon is starting to retract itself about that. Mandalorian has showed that the Empire was losing terrain slower than what we saw at the start. A retcon.

Actually the Mainline Galactic Civil War lasted as long in Legends as in Canon. In fact it ended earlier in Legends as it basically ended with the Liberation of Coruscant. What happened after that was the Imperial Civil War as Warlords and Moffs tried to vie for control the Empire with no results (of course with Skirmishes against the Alliance of Free Planets and afterwards the New Republic but nothing major during that time) so the war itself ended in 5 BBY just like in Canon. When Thrawn came to the scene with his campaign to unify the Galactic Empire under his banner and afterwards the return of Sidious and his Dark Empire were basically their own conflicts by themselves just like also everything that happens after that as the Empire as we knew was already destroyed by the constant infighting and the New Republic was in the complete process of fully establishing itself as the dominant power of the Star Wars Galaxy (until the Vong came in 25 BBY). Just because there was no treaty until 14 BBY (because there was nothing resembling the Empire until then with the Imperial Remanant (and after Fel Empire less than a century later)) and thus no official end to it, does not mean that it truly ended in that year

@epicalfailure83 Peace isn't the best term, it's like how period between the world wars is scene as peaceful but still had tens of dozens of wars going on. And I guarantee that there were plenty of conflicts going on during the Millennium leading up to the clone wars. Granted they weren't exactly Galaxy spanning but they should've at least taught the Republic that they should've had more than the Jedi Order and planetary militias to serve as a military.

@Raymond Tremblay True the reason I compare the Rebel Alliance with the French Resistance is because many inside the French Resistance had different political ideologies some where communists some anarchists some were from French colonies like Algeria who fought for a free France to one day achieve Algerian independence but they were United under one goal and that was to free France from Nazi Occupation just like the rebels were United under one goal to overthrow the Empire

For one, they were a senate that had gone for 1000 years without any intergalactic conflict and two, the clone wars was a much different war than any that had come before. While other wars lasted longer, the clone wars was devastating because they had armies that could be thrown at each other far more frequently than any other and It could have potentially extended indefinitely with two armies that could be regrown at will.

I agree. Idk if it was equal to the yuuzhan vong invasion, but with the possible exception to that it was the most devastating conflict second to none. The Eternal Empire easily defeated the entire combined civilization of the Republic, Empire, and all the rest that were from the galaxy. Plus, it gets all the badass points, it's a hidden civilization with an enormous fleet of ancient robot ships and warriors, that lives in massive towers on a planet outside of the galaxy in wild space, is led by the spirit of the immortal Sith Emperor that was "killed" not too long before, and wrecked the entire galaxy. I'd call the yuuzhan vong just copycats that decided to use organic matter instead of the droid forces of the Eternal Empire.

Not at all one of the sith wars was 1,000 years long. The sith wars had multiple genocides and the republic and sith empire collapesed multiple times.

@@epicalfailure83 I disagree. The casualties of the Clone Wars were likely very high, and primarily in terms of civilians. Though I will concede the lack of definitive numbers does put the Clone Wars at a disadvantage. Still my favorite conflict in the saga though, lol.
