I was gonna say that when using a zero turn, make sure you full throttle it mowing and just before the end of your stripe, pull back so it brakes quickly making an awesome skid, then throw the handles opposite directions to quickly pivot turn creating that perfect 2x2 tear mark at the end of each line. 😛

If you live in a cool season grass zone now as high as your mower will go. Typically this is around 4”. It will make it so you don’t have to mow as much and can still do the 1/3 cutting rule, it creates more shade for the soil during hot times of the year and doesn’t allow as much light to reach the soil so weeds don’t have as much chance at germinating.

great way for kids to lose an eye or get a $4,000 doctor bill. mowers catch rocks and sticks and match box cars, hose connector ends become great golaith killing slung projectiles. read the operators manual, keep all pets and children and other people away while in operation. multiple times his son was extremely too close i would have emergency killed the machine.

Clean the blade first then check balance before sharpening. This will give you an idea of what you can take off of each side while grinding/filing. Clean under the deck for good flow.

Kyle thank you for your help describing how to build a lawn stripper , I built one for my lawn and the neighbour’s think I am crazy every time I cut which is 3 times a week I have a different cut direction and now I have the neighbours trying to guess my next cut . Is it safe to use the lawn stripper to cut the grass every time I cut the grass? Your lawn looks amazing it is early July here in Edmonton can I apply straight nitrogen to green up the grass ?
@christian-helsting4195

When your in a landscape company, you know on the rainy days that you need to clean your decks out. If you are paying attention, you can tell when your mower starts mulching the grads
@mplslawnguy3389
@mplslawnguy3389 3 года назад
Great tips, also if you mulch clippings, make sure your mower is actually mulching them properly. If your mower sucks at mulching and leaves clumps, better off just bagging.

First day I found your channel, but I like it. I have a Zoysia lawn that I want to start striping. I'm in my 2nd season since I planted and just hitting the early peak growth period. There is another type of end cap you can get as well that locks onto the end of the PVC, but your idea works well too, and costs less. I think I'll make my trip to the big box store tomorrow and get the pieces and see how it goes. Thanks for the videos. I'll be looking for some designs for striping next. I'm OCD...single stripes or diagonal are not going to be enough. my OCD will want patterns beyond normal stripes. At least until I get exhausted, then I may rethink it all LOL.
@lakehouselawncare1755
@lakehouselawncare1755 3 года назад
Well, thanks for checking out my channel! I appreciate it. Your Zoysia should stripe nicely.
@troy5292
@troy5292 3 года назад
@@lakehouselawncare1755 My first attempt didn't go well. I made about 5 passes before rain started so I took off the attachment the following morning because I was just in a huge hurry at that point. The Zoysia seemed to be so dense that it didn't want to lay over, and that was with me using a 4" PVC pipe full of gravel (instead of the 3", since Zoysia is so dense), so I am sure I had enough weight. I'll try again in a few days and cross my fingers. I have an amazing looking front lawn, but I'd love to have some fairly decent stripes too. My neighbor has Fescue and his lawn stripes well. My warm season grass probably won't stripe as well as his Fescue, but I still prefer my Zoysia. It's so much softer on the feet now that it is filling in well. :0)
@troy5292
@troy5292 2 года назад
I did try striping a few more times but Zenith Zoysia is a medium wide blade type of Zoysia, and because Zoysia has a bit stiffer blade than cool season grasses, it is like carpet to walk on, but it doesn't push over and stay over well enough to hold a stripe very long. If I was mowing my Zoysia every 2-4 days it may stripe better, but currently I'm not able to mow that often.
@aprilgeneric8027
@aprilgeneric8027 Год назад
crop circles are a way to start with patterns. major eye attraction obstacles like flower beds design your pattern around their borders leading peoples eyes to them or focus locking patterns around them such as boxed shape or triangle or a shape of wave and box ends that accentuates the objects like a fountain statue or a gazebo patio, deck patio etc.
@troy5292
@troy5292 Год назад
@@aprilgeneric8027 Great ideas for sure. I really like that triangle one. It's pretty unique, even if you're not highlighting anything in the lawn. My Zoysia is so dense that I cannot mow it lower than 2 inches with my 8 lb-ft Honda twin blade mower, and that's with the mower riding on top of the dense grass. So, I have no idea what the height is from the ground. But with the height of the grass and the density, it just doesn't stripe as well as I'd like. I just end up mowing the exact same path every time and that gives me a faint stripe, but the push mower wheel tracks fake it a little too. I did have crop circle designs in my lawn last year, well, if you count the large patch fungal issue LOL. My Zoysia is currently dormant and should be greening up in the next few weeks, so I'll see if I got that under control last fall, or if it will return. I'm trying to decide if I should bite the bullet and get some Revolver herbicide. It's purpose is to kill cool season grasses in warm season lawns. I have a thick Zoysia lawn, but my OCD with the few tiny spots of green in my dormant Zoysia lawn calls me for action.
