Just finished Redeeming Productivity. It’s VERY good

John, piper is such a gift to the church. The themes of joy run very deep in all his writings, even when he’s writing about difficult subjects. Whether or not you agree with him you at least have to recognize that he is an excellent exegete of scripture, and he’s one of the few pastors scholars I’ve seen who has tackled difficult scriptures to try and find some meaning in them.

I read the Bible ( from several different translations) mostly KJV, and Charles Spurgeons writings daily and Matthew Henry's commentaries. When I feel really stressed I read Calvin and Hobbes. Enough reading, more praying folks.

Best books for Christians: "god is Not Great," by Christopher Hitchens; "The God Delusion," by Richard Dawkins; and "The End of Faith," by Sam Harris.

Every serious Christian should study the Bible alongside the teachings of the Early Church Fathers, the Apostolic Church Fathers, the Ante-Nicene Fathers, the whole Dead Sea Texts, some of the Hag Nammadi books, and the moral, spiritual, and allegorical commentaries on Scripture. Do not go near Dead Letter interpretations commentaries. Research the Bible verse by verse. Give most of your time to deciphering Scripture to know the heart and mind of God.
