This is the first of 70 defendents who stole 250 mil from us government. The media tends not to talk about how our government were so stupid they just gave all that money out without checking who they were giving it to.
Contacted my NC Rep. in Washington when the pandemic funds were being considered and asked that they extend or remove the statute of limitations on the misuse of these funds so that law enforcement could investigate and prosecute fraud without limit on these funds. He just said no.

I’m just wondering how these fools got that much money, it’s amazing how much money they let go out. Yet normal Americans are supposed to work above full time to cover the basic necessities. My guess is they will get a small amount of time, and of course it was well worth the money for the time
It appears that it was a legit service- 250 mil was awarded, and 40 mil was stolen. It's always easier to steal part of the money from a non-profit. The main problem is that non-profits need better laws governing their accounting systems. People steal from them all of the time because of lax oversight. That's why so much money goes missing from Little League concessions and orgs like that. The feds will take their cars, homes, etc. and track down much of the missing money. It takes them a while, but they are pretty relentless.
It depends on you and what you willdo or wontdo if such thing occurs in your backyard. No fanfare, no parade, just memories that blend with others and the millions of "good for them" thoughts after.

I blame our own government most. How do they give that kind of money to these people without constant oversight. Every dollar they spent should have been approved BEFORE it was spent.
During the Pandemic, I get between 3 to 6 calls a day offering all kinds of govt pandemic relief . It’s very tempting. My mom always warn me not to fall of it as it’s a bait and they will collect you and your business in a few years. 1,2, years passed , and here we are. People getting busted left and right with this pandemic aid, loan, assistance.
Wasn't Farah's house raided after the jury bribery scandal came to light, didn't they find cash at his house, a house that he paid for through this scheme? How did he walk from all of this?
I agree. Used to live in that area. Minneapolis was clean, safe, upscale, great place to live, work and raise kids. Of course, it was close to 100% white back then which explains why it was so safe and nice.

He repaid the debt and owes interest and penalties. He is disgusting, and I don't know why Mississippi would use federal dollars on a fitness scheme, but that was not pandemic money. These people took emergency funds for the pandemic, saying they were feeding poor children. How are these cases comparable besides being disgusting and hurting poor people? Brett was supposed to speaking engagement, Feed the Future was supposed to actually feed people.

How about something more like: 5 out of the 7 defendants charged have been found guilty... 5 people vs 4,755,000 is kind of significant. You editors SUCK!
