Of course the Republic is what 'switched sides' when the Imperials took over, ...it's not as if the Mimbanese position on themselves and their world changed. The coup a) made an illegitimate government and b) turned the Republic into just the kind of bad guys the Separatists acted as to the Mimbanese.
They could have even thrown a Jedi into the mix. Quinlan Vos hid out on Kashyk after Order 66. Masters Tholme and T'ra Saa were also on the planet for years. By the time Han Solo had his Rambo moment, Tholme probably was dead but T'ra Saa could have still been alive. A Neti Jedi would have been a cool addition. The Star Wars version of an Ent going to war.
Hey THANK YOU for supporting Homefront it really means a LOT to my family. My family has a lot of people who served in the US military and I think my dad would be very happy to know not everyone on the internet is a jerk.
Generation tech please make a theory about what if Obi wan kenobi left the jedi order to be with Duchess Satime after his padawan mission to protect her.
It's interesting how Obi-Wan said "that sounds like terrorism, Anakin," yet what Anakin was really advocating for was guerrilla warfare. Anakin understood that soft targets meant isolated outposts, supply columns, and understrength garrisons, which is the key objective of insurgency movements which want to achieve independence and the support of the population. Meanwhile, the GAR would use its conventional forces to confront those of the Separatists, which would keep the Separatists off balance and unable to effectively use their limited resources. This strategy has worked on numerous occasions, with the American Revolution, the Peninsular War, the Haitian Revolution, the 1812 Russian Campaign, Red Cloud's War, and the Vietnam/Indochina Conflicts being great examples. Thus, Anakin's insight into guerrilla warfare made him the ironic father of the Rebel Alliance, the force he would fight against when he became Darth Vader.
PETERVONFROSTER mostly. I once had the shock of meeting a Quarrenese Mando. The droid-squad I commanded tried to fight him, and I sincerely wish I could wipe THAT memory...
Who says the Cold War ended> Even today, the US "allies" in the Middle East are fighting against so-called "regimes" that are backed by Russia. In other words, what's going on in say, Syria, is a proxy war, just as Vietnam and Korea were. I say, "so-called" because there's too much propaganda and mis-information going around about what is far too complex to just label as a "war on terror," although there's plenty of that too (and most Islamic "terrorist" activities are directed at fellow Muslims, which is a whole 'nother issue on it's own). Many of today's enemies were yesterday's allies, and they have our weapons and tactics.
I wonder if there is a similar thing from the Galactic Civil War. Are there groups that the Rebel Alliance worked with/supported that then became a problem for them after they became the New Republic? I can think of a few examples of anti-Imperial factions that became hostile later (the Yevetha in Legends and the Nikita cartel in Canon that rose out of the destruction of the Hutts), but none where the Rebels directly worked with them beforehand. Maybe Bo Katan's Mandalore had some scuffles with the Republic?
Interesting stuff. Didn’t realize the republic hadn’t gone to help out Kashyyyk but that makes sense since it would have been a low priority with the empire in disarray.
Yeah. Haven't you seen the episode of South Park where Japanese people were bravely sacrificing them self's to take out the evil that is the dolphin? "Fucka you dolphin and fucka you whale"
There should be a list involving Obi-Wan's greatest hypocrisies. It's bad to help rebels when it involves destabilizing enemy goverments in a war. But its okay to train a child to the same when the government is run by the Sith.
aliastheabnormal, when did Obi Wan said that it was good to train Luke ? He probably said in some novels or comic that it felt good, that Luke was a good student, or that it was good to see hope reborn in the person of Luke, but when did he say that sending Luke to war is good thing ? Also, the problem Obi Wan had was the threat that this posed to innocent civilians’ lives, a dilemma that didn’t exist with Luke, because letting the brutal and ILlegitimate leader is already and will continue to threatens the innocents.
aliastheabnormal actually it's not hypocritical at all as the empire is not considered the legitimate government and instead are simply the rulers of it, sell until he did away with it completely by disbanding the Senate after which point even the appearance that the Emporer was legitimately leading the government dissolved.
If you think about it, what Maul did on Mandalore was basically what Obi-wan was advocating against doing on Onderon, albeit Maul lacked Separatist support. Obi-wan was worried that destabilizing local governments would create a big mess that the Republic would have to clean up after they won - a problem that the Rebel Alliance couldn't afford to worry about.
I have a question for Generation Tech. Would the empire let a group of people (that destroyed a massive rebal cell) be granted a moon. If so how would it go down?
I thought Fenn Rau decided to join the rebels when he found out that his men weren't killed because of the deal they had with the rebels, Saxon was going to kill them anyway and it just served as an excuse. Also Fenn Rau and Gar Saxon are played by the guys who played Lucius Vorenus and Titus Pullo, legionaries from Caesar's Legio XIII and two of the best bros in the history of brodom. Ironic that they were enemies in Rebels.
Generation Tech ! You guys are awesome I love the videos, best starwars channel on RU-vid ! Can you guys do some videos on blasters / combat gear? Like you could rank what’s best for a bounty hunter, thermal detonators and all!
Lol I watch a lot of history videos in addition to Star Wars and other stuff, so when he finished and started talking about Star Wars again after the history lesson I was like... huh? Oh ya I clicked on a Star Wars video 😆
I personnel never understood why the Jedi were hesitant to help the Onderon Rebels. The Planet was technically an Enemy world, meaning that the Republic had every right to attack it. Also, though I would say that some of the Onderon Rebels like Saw could be considered extremists, I never see how they could be terrorists, as that can only be applied when groups use terror as a weapon, which they weren’t trying to do, and it makes no sense for the Republic to consider helping them mean supporting terrorism, since they had no proof these rebels were committing acts of terror. IDK just a rant, great video!
How cool would a clone wars episode based on the 224th division or the mud jumpers training up the mimbanese fighters against the separatists and at the end of the episode have them coming back but as storm troopers against the mimbanese
Your telling me, that after hearing that the only reason the mando's weren't stopping the rebels was because they had their leader, rather than just making them elect a new leader, they destroy them. "How did the Empire lose?!"
I was thinking of the Hutt Cartel. While Jabba did cooperate with Vader capturing Solo, the Hutts were big criminals and certainly not in favor of any law and order.
Not gonna lie, those Mimbanese , Twilek and the rest of the militia were turned into enemies because of Palpatine Death Star construction needs, imagine if Palps hadn't used those battle stations.
Interesting video. It is a debatable point that whether the Republic got these weapons "pointed back at them." The Empire is not the Republic, even if it wears the latter's skin like a coat.
All my friends were killed by mercenaries our taxes funded. The true enemy is war. “Progress, far from consisting in change, depends on retentiveness. When change is absolute there remains no being to improve and no direction is set for possible improvement: and when experience is not retained, as among savages, infancy is perpetual. Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.’ ~ George Santayana. Thank you for this I have never seen anyone on this side of youtube brave enough to speak of Jimmy Carter’s Operation Cyclone partisan seasons hide bipartisan treasons & so my friends my friends are not only dead they’ve been betrayed by historians who omit history but you remember you have my respect.

The U.S. didn't directly fund the Mujahideen, the C.I.A. gave the funds to the Pakistani's who wanted a Pashtun group to rule Afghanistan and so they funded them, so indirectly yes, but not exactly.
