Well said brother! I’m glad you voiced your opinion and hopefully companies out there take heed because off-roading communities is massive, and it would be unfortunate for a company’s name to be tarnished all because customer service is lacking.
Right, this lack of operations control and automation through CS and shipping in smaller businesses is why Amazon is winning the game. We forget the world before Amazon.
100% agree on customer service. I've experienced similar experiences with other companies and either they don't seem to give their staff the right training (for the larger companies) or some small businesses starting out don't realize customer service is part of their product/brand. Glad you eventually got it sorted out. I also have the power tank/rockslide engineering mount but was lucky that amazon had the power tank mount in stock when I ordered
Thanks for your part about Power Tank, influenced my purchasing decision since I’m in the market. I’m sure the product is great but despise bad customer service when it comes to making things right.
Because of this video I am now a subscriber. Letting us know of possible issues and who or who not to deal with is what I am looking for. Great content!!!
Suggestion on that spare tire tank carrier. Double up the cargo straps. I have a similar setup for my gas cans. First trip out the single cargo strap failed and the entire setup went bouncing down the dirt road...
companies need to be called out more for their poor performances sure it could totally be a one off issue but take the effort to make it right. "i forgot to send it out" is not an issue with a third party and should have been rectified. we the consumer suffer when we allow companies to take advantage. all my other hobbies dont seem to have these sort of issues and they all seem to want to make it right but when it comes to overlanding companies they all seem to want to take advantage of their consumer.
I had seen Power Tank products too. From an engineering stand point they are just off the shelf components. I ordered a tank, tank valve, regulator, and tank carry handle all well established brands with good quality control for a total of about half the price of Power Tank. Point is, power tank is a marketing company, making a lot of money with each tank system they sale. Parts inventory and labor of assembly are much less than what I paid and expended in an hour of labor. As an image and a marketing company, they should as a business model, work for a good customer experience. Next time build it yourself, it will be cheaper, less frustrating, and take less time.
Hopefully, Power Tank will work with that crappy CS guy and show him the error of his ways. On the second call with that guy, after him dropping the ball, I would have spoken with his boss's boss because something isn't right in that department which is critical to the company and their customers. That guy should have made it right regardless of fault. Most importantly, you should NEVER had been blamed.
So the guy I spoke to had a name that was similar to the owner of the company. And during the call he kept saying "I'll be out a tank" like it's HIM and not the company. So either I spoke to a rep who had the same name or I was speaking directly to the owner 👀 I don't know as I never got his last name
😂😂😂 I’ve subscribed and liked because I found the tracking number! Well said! As you can see I’m a new channel and you’re a big inspiration! Thank you for the video and motivation! I’d love to meet up and hang out some time!
That first customer service rep should probably consider a different line of work. The fact that you were able to get in touch with someone who was willing to go above and beyond to satisfy you as a customer is what good customer service is all about. I hope that the good ppl at power tank see this video and are able to course adjust on how to properly accommodate the paying customers that help get the company to where it is today. I appreciate you sharing your experience, brothaman.
As a small business, I know have to eat issues that I don't want to but you do right, suck it up and move on. Make the customer happy especially if I'm in the wrong.
That part. I don't mind the mistakes at all. The first time I called I understand them not wanting to lose more. The second time when they forgot, that's when it shoulda been taken cared of immediately
The consumer for the last couple of decades has become an endangered species. This clown probably has a gender studies degree, been coddled all of his life, and got a customer (non) service job because he doesn’t have one damn skill to his name. He is too stupid to know that he has only one purpose, that is too get every customer to come back and buy more stuff from his company. That being said, the company has a responsibility to hire, train, and monitor their employee’s performance……….obviously they failed with this guy , and that is on them. This is why competition is so important; it weeds out the marginal players and rewards the stars. Great video, love the mods.
It seems to be a thing these days, where companies create a shipping label before even pulling the product off the shelf. Because they can't charge your credit card until it ships. So they create the shipping label first thing to get your money right away, and worry about filling the order later.
Firefighter paramedic for 30 years. Please....I know everyone wants to look cool. Please stop putting propane tanks and fuel tanks on the rear, side, or top of your vehicle. When you get hit or roll over, a minor incident turns into an explosion and/or fire. Instead of bumps and bruises, you're in the burn unit or morgue.....and that's not cool. Only suicide bombers strap fuel and propane tanks to their vehicles.
Re: under-seat lockbox, I had one in my JKU and loved it. I haven't found one for the JLU yet. One thing I want to know for the JL with the push button start, can I lock the Jeep keys in the box when the doors are off and just carry the lockbox key (go swimming, surfing etc), will it act as a faraday cage so the Jeep can't be started? With the JK that wasn't an issue. Glad you finally got that PowerTank issue sorted out. I hope they track back to the guy you first talked to and he gets "re-trained". What I was taught is that 'it is easier and more profitable for a company to *keep* their existing customers than it is to make *new* ones'. In other words, do what it takes to keep them happy.
POSTED! Brother, fortunately for me, I live in Japan, where customer service is on point. However, companies have to realize that customers are the ones who are paying their paychecks, and if we're treated like it's always our faults when something goes wrong, then there will definitely be another company willing to go the extra mile for our customer satisfaction. You have the platform and dedicated followers who definitely want you to post things like this, it keeps it real for us, that even you have to deal with the same kind of $h1t. Your honesty and even your confliction makes me want to keep coming back to your content because I value your opinion, talent, and truthfulness. Keep it going, brother!
Your videos are great, especially for someone new to overlanding. Thanks for sharing your experience with Power tank…let’s hope the poor customer service has been addressed after your input!
I surely hope they did something about that guy. Customer service will make or break a company. I had similar situation with a small company. Got up date email for back ordered product. Then nothing. Finally out of blue i got a lesser quality brand for the price i paid. Will never do business with them again.
On an overland/remote travel vehicle a lockbox is essential, I have one on the Landy, no I'm not saying where it is... Folding antenna mount, not really a necessary item, depends on the antenna, if it needs a ground plain, it could be a cause of poor signal as gives a poor or resistored ground. (amatuer licence holder and have played around with a lot of vehicle antennas. External gas bottles is never a great idea in my view, too much possibility of theft and it's constantly in the weather and sun, especially on the back it gets all the debris off the road, better to mount in a separate side accessed locker, with adquate venting direct to outside. if the bottle leaks it vents safe, it's not liable to easy theft and it's secure, what is better? all camp lights it's a good idea to have colour change or separate amber or red lights, as you rightly say, moths and bugs love white light, it's their moon. I like the tent holders, especially if you have something like an Oztent or HM Wizz. Perfect. Re shipping, there is a differnce in fault and responsibility! It may not be the sender's fault, but it is their responsibility to make sure the shipping method is reliable and delivers, after all, not receiving goods is bad, but here, the law is on the side of the purchaser, so the sender is responsible for the goods until the purchaser receives them, so here your claim would be just. Also the sender has already lost the goods as won't get them returned mid shipping so the paid for a service is irrelevent as you paid for 3 day and didin't get it TWICE! That is bad. Here we have consumer rights legislation that sets out responsibilities of each party, on the whole it works, but the latest set of regs isn't as good as the preceeding versions. Seems like "Powertank" needs to have a good look at their customer services staff, promote the attitude of the woman, fire that man, good companies loose customers by poor staff attitudes.
Thanks man! As far as folding antenna mount, I haven't had issues. I've been getting great range still. For propane tank holder, that's why I did it this way. I won't run it permanently and thus not worried about theft. If someone is stealing it while I'm on the the trail or camping, then it's time to pull out that firearm from the lockbox cuz there's def someone in the woods that shouldn't be there! Lol (And yes that def happens...)
Glade you are speaking up. Customer service is the backbone of a company. Even some businesses that had extraordinary customer service have crashed after covid. Some businesses have terrible service from the get go. I try to be nice but after awhile unless you are direct with them and almost rude, which i hate doing and most time they instigate it, you don't get anywhere. There's some people that clearly shouldn't be working in retail and customer service. You're a 100% right!! Thank you for posting. At least we can all relate.
Subscribed because of clips 15:08 -- 15:38 &&& 25:38 -- 25:57 That kind of mindset/content is how you stay genuine as a youtuber and can snag people who dont watch youtube often (also quality vid production; which you got). I subscribe to like 10 people. I appreciate your vids brah. Wish we could see the gear in action MORE. Camping or on the trail. Even the special videos like AMSR, Life or Guest Interviews.
Only reason I haven't shown those videos much yet is 2 reasons: 1) Im working on a film now for expo film festival that shows us on the trail and it's a big one so I've been focused on that 2) We go on trips a lot and sometimes I wanna use that time to be with family and not be filming. It's my time to relax lol So that's why But I got you! Got some trips coming up soon where I can get some filming done
@@BaptismOverland Time with the fam & friends > setting up shots. Memories trump reelsl by far (but ya still need it for vids). Film fest? Does it start with a S -- and end with a undance? Also get the filming and "personal" stuff. I never subscribe; let alone comment. You my style. Yeah man!
I’m in customer service and have done it for years. You always make things right, whether it was in control or not. My wife had a similar experience with Rugged Ridge over simple trash bag for the Jeep. Now very hesitant to purchase anything from them going forward.
You sure said a mouthful, Bro. Customer service is a lost art! I hope Power Tank saw your video and that "customer service" rep had his ass handed to him.
I was also in the market for propane alternatives recently and found the Power Tank mounting products. I couldn't justify a $125 mount when it didnt include a tank as well. I ended up going with the IGNIK product (even though similar in over-expensive pricing) because of sizing and carrying case. I could easily just ratchet it inside the bed somewhere and be fine with it.
Yeah IGNIK is awesome. But to use that I'll have to store it in vehicle which I didn't want. At least you have a bed to ratchet it onto. There's actually a guy on Etsy that makes the mounts for half the cost of the powertank and he's been getting some attention lately. You should check it out!
Thanks for your rant. I bought a Powertank system in August. I had to call to them to double check something. I think I spoke with that same guy. I didn’t have any problems though. I did have a problem with Borla. I bought an $800 exhaust system, it was so bad dealing with them. I just threw the whole exhaust system in the scrap yard.
Hey .. this was excellent! I tried to install the amber lights same ones that you purchased. The ones in the midsection the Alopee (“change perfect” - lol)… Didn’t seem to go in started to smoke what am I missing here?
I called the same company needing a part for my propane tank holder. I dropped the part in the desert, on a trip. When I explained what I needed, they argued with me, and were condescending. I got my part, but I will never do business with them again.
Customer service is absolutely paramount. I had a slight issue with the wrong product being shipped to me by a relatively new roof top tent company, and they immediately made it right. Zero hesitation. I will promote them to the moon for that! Super glad you spoke your mind on this. Keep that up!
Agreed! Had the same issue with an RTT company that made it right. Conversely I had an issue with another company for an awning and this guy was super condescending
I agree. There's a guy on Etsy that makes them for half the price. Shoulda supported them. Problem was I needed it quick (which didn't happen anyway). Lesson learned.
@@BaptismOverland Ive been contemplating the 5lb for a while but without a great place to mount it I never have. What you showed looks like a great option!
Sounds like a millenial rant, Was usps fault from the beginning, then you wanted a freebie from them.. They did however do you wrong by shipping it later than what they stated on the 2nd phone call... All this for a stupid crucial "hey look at all my overland equipment " glorified propane tank holder..lol
First off Gen X. Second, sounds to me you work with them. I didn't want a freebie. I never do. I would gladly send the other one back when it arrives. Listen closer next time.
So you're saying you are ok with ordering something that you need for a trip and not have them come through and then the company says they'll send you another but then they don't? So you're ok with not keeping their word or doing right by you? Good to know!
@@BaptismOverland lol..relax.. like gen x is any better..lol.. I meant a freebie as far as your updated shipping at shippers cost when it was usps' fault..
It should be noted, the underseat stuff only works with four door Jeeps. The tilt and tumble function of the two door doesn't allow for MOST underseat storage of anything. I recognize that they make up between 5-25% of sales total, but we are still out here.
@BaptismOverland there's definitely workarounds. If I wanted, I could probably swap seats with a four door, or replace seats in this one like I did in my last two door. But it's not worth the hassle for me yet.
Hey long time no post, but I'm still watching. Two things, 1) Those ambers do they throw enough light and good enough quality to see things? I was thinking of doing this last year but just didn't know. Second thing your "passionate" talk about the customer service... I've had the same conversation with a couple companies. Now being in Canada and dealing with US companies is different, I had a warranty issue and the shipping was twice as much as the part needing to be fixed, of course it was a OEM part so I had to get it from this company. Let's just say that part is still broken and I'm not dealing with that company anymore... But there was no saving person on thier end for me. Hope all is well Peace
Dude the ambers inside are nice lol. I've been highly impressed. If it feels dark for you you can always maybe do the front in white and the rears in amber for when you're opening the rear to get stuff at camp but keeping the front white so you can see what you need to
@@BaptismOverland cool beans man, I'll give it a try, up here the bugs can get too touchy feely in the camping season. Hey I forgot to mention but you keeping things honest and real is one major reason that keep people coming back to you. You haven't changed from your first videos with what content you want to show us, well done... just thought you should here that, peace
Im so glad that you're calling companies out on this. This is the dark side of these companies no one wants to showcase on social media. From what i've seen and experienced many times, the company goes above and beyond making excuses for their complacency.
Man, I hate that with companies and usps. I had a similar issue last year. I have a 2021 Jeep Cherokee trailhawk. The aftermarket support is lacking for this model. But there was only 1 company really making parts for it. I ordered a part that I wanted in order to run bulletpoint arms. And well after i ordered it, a day or so later i got a tracking number....It took over a month for me to get it. Gave me the same answers as well its not my fault. It got lost in shipment. But the tracking had never updated from it being created at his location... Im not one for bitching to get things free all the time. I just want it made right. Just like you.
Exactly! I don't want special treatment. I don't want free stuff. I just want it done right. Could've been settled the first time I called. So now they have one bracket lost in the mail, one that finally arrived to me and then a 3rd that's supposed to arrive tomorrow that I'll have to send back.
