Improve your game!
This channel is dedicated to all the gold seeking Pickleballers out there who dink responsibly and stay out of the kitchen. We have all levels come through the channel, but we concentrate on the 4.0s, 4.5s and up to 5.5s.
I started this channel quite by accident, I was recording my games to do film study and get better. I did not have time or money for lessons from pro pickleball coach, so I started watching all my screwups. People that I was playing with started to ask if they could watch too and I said sure. That helped all of us a lot to improve our game, strategy, mental toughness, and techniques. Now we have new pickleball videos published several times a week. We occasionally have pro pickleball players on the channel. Mostly its non pro pickleball players on their quest to 5.0 pickleball. We have all levels come through the channel: 4.0 pickleball, 4.5 pickleball and up to 5.5 pickleball with the pros.

Couldn’t agree more about the reasons for not getting better- I now have a standing weekly lesson where we drill dinks, drops, attacks, etc…and finish off the lesson with skinny singles with the pro not holding back. I am basically getting dominated on the skinny singles but my goal is to see how I improve over the next couple months.

Sounds like a solid game plan right there.

Great! It just would have been wonderful to have a short synopsis at the end of the list of the five. Thanks so much. I really love your videos and I do have great days.

Joey had done this for a while. The problem is that people stop watching and the video does not get promoted as much with the RU-vid algorithm. Thank you so much for watching and the feedback!

Great info on making sure to stay in the ready position with your paddle. Thanks for making the video!

Thanks, yep on all of those. Would add…why is there so many adds..ha ha. Anyway, my instructor advises me to …relax, stay loose. Can’t really do really well at most sports without this. It sure does help to get better, especially at the kitchen line. I have to remind myself to stay loose during games. I also like Blaine P comments below, especially that learning to read the opponents shot position and paddle set up is more than a good thing.

Very good point! Takes time to achieve that skill but start early stage to practice those skills will be the dream come true🤗🤗🤗🤗

Great points. The only other one I would add would be PATIENCE! I'm constantly getting coached that I try to speed it up too quickly and against 3-3.5 players I get away with it but against anyone better they are reading my body language and punishing me. My partner/coach is always telling me "Patience, young padawan"

I'm trying to drop, but not always successful. One partner in rec play told me that I just needed to lob when the other team was at the net. OK, sometimes, but I am going to keep working on the drop and plan to take lessons to improve what I am doing. Some rec players just bang and lob. Drives me nuts!
@Vanessa-pe2xs

Lobbing from the baseline is kinda risky...practicing ur weakness is probably a better choice.

for me why i think people don't get better is their mindset. people would rather win rec games than using rec games as a way to get better. focusing on trying to win the point vs trying to dink, reset, setup your teammates tetc

Agreed, good players will work on specific shots, and sometimes tell their partner, hey im working on this shot so let me apologize now. Like Keith With Driving the ball, hes just not good at it!!!

Hey are those funny little double hits acceptable? How bout the ones that roll off the face of the paddle? You know what I mean? Thanks in advance. Rick
@ThePickleballPirates
@ThePickleballPirates 2 года назад
Double hits are legal on the pickleball courts, but only under certain circumstances. To be a legal double hit, the hit must be (1) unintentional, (2) continuous, (3) a single-direction stroke, and (4) by just one player. The same with rolls.

OMG - you didn't have to put that footwork in slow motion. Even a rookie like me was horrified:(

On the other hand, there are players who become stagnant at 4.0 forever because they play too conservatively, never drive or speed up.
@chrislin2774
@chrislin2774 2 года назад
Interesting perspective. I'm not saying you're incorrect. Most 4.0 players I've played against want to speed up the rally more than half of the time. The only thing that separates them from 3.0-3.5 is that they can hit drop shots and dinks and are aware of the percentage plays. I've come across 4.0 players who are mistaken as 4.5 and it's only because they have smooth mechanics and good hands. But nice swings don't really matter if one is not able to utilize percentage plays. Maybe it's because I'm from Kansas and perhaps we look at the ratings differently. Take care.

But also 4.0 stay stagnant for driving too much

Pickleball sucks. Favors the unathletic.

When you suck in pickleball it is not only because you are unathletic.
@denmac19
@denmac19 Год назад
@@ThePickleballPirates Missed my point entirely. What I meant was there are certain things a naturally athletic, aggressive player can do that's not allowed in PB, i.e. overhead serve, striking or spiking a ball out of air, etc. I'll stick to hockey.
