I often get "how can you eat so much and be that skinny, it's not fair." People around me often don't even know what a calorie is, once explained and asked to guess (compare products) they're so off. Even those who do often count recipes off by 2-5x... I suspect some even use cups (very uncommon here) just to avoid seeing the weight in case they see the nutrition label... Then the out part, oof. I can't sit without pain so it's common for my watch to log between 600-1000 non-exercise calories, because I walk, I pace, I cycle (driving = sitting) etc. I don't know what it'd say for a couch potato though. I actually struggle eating up against it, more weight I lose, the easier movement becomes, my condition improved, my speed.. I have to adjust my diet again, but it's much easier now my body learned to deal with healthy fats, last resort is just drinking the calories. (I grew up on a very distorted diet, my parents are 200kg :'') forced me to eat like them, yet never a healthy fat in sight... they saturated it all by using the wrong oils at too high heat. Had low-fat alternatives for any healthy fats, limited eggs, salmon etc. since bad for you. :'') Idiots.) However I swear I could cook for all my obese friends, volume-eating style, and they'd have a Will/Greg challenge experience trying to avoid losing weight but they refuse to take me up on the challenge. :'')

@esmee6308

Oh I'd be interested in this, I avoid any pain-medication for personal reasons so I had no idea they affected protein synthesis at all. Gonna google around a bit. Have my upvote.
@cinargey6873
@cinargey6873 3 года назад
@@esmee6308 yeah i did some research on that and some conflicting studies. One study says both painkillers hinder the protein synthesis. So I stopped taking but then i go to bed with some pain and i cant sleep properly.
@esmee6308
@esmee6308 3 года назад
@@cinargey6873 Sleep is incredibly vital for recovery and thus muscle building, so if studies are conflicting I'd place my bets on getting enough quality sleep personally. Or maybe see if you can prevent some of the pain by pushing yourself a little less hard? (I'd ignore this advice too, it's half of the fun. :'') ) Ironically due to my chronic pain (which not even a morphine drip can block out enough for a proper night sleep) training helps me sleep better since I'm relaxed and exhausted and I don't perceive DOMs as painful, just a weird tugging, even if not it's kinda like this pain I chose, it feels empowering if that makes sense.

@rodiusmaximus

the only real question is why is someone ingesting heavy metals? secondly, how? especially when paint and petrol don't have lead anymore, and most thermometers are digital not mercury.
@xzBorn_

@@rodiusmaximus arent there heavy metals in some fish?
@rodiusmaximus
@rodiusmaximus 3 года назад
Henrik Bengtsson yes there is mercury in sea-caught fish. WHO has recommendations regarding consumption (no more than one meal per week or something). I guess it depends on your heavy metal preference. 10 cans of tuna per week for 40 years or 10 cans of 40 year old paint in a week. But yeah it’s not considered toxic at low levels.

You are definitely progressively overloading your video editing level :) Greg D. always says about this research with steroids and that is was useless because they measured gains using DEXA - it recognise water gains as muscle gains. As we know, when you take steroids, you have some significant water retention - that's why study showed gaining weight not exercising, only by the steroids. I really don't think you can simply inject something, not to do anything and miraculous grow muscles
@Sharkyktc001
@Sharkyktc001 3 года назад
FWIW I'm absolutely not against using steroids, but I don't think there's anything to gain by disputing that they do cause muscle growth without training. There's a study out there looking at transgender men (which is a useful model, since you're esentially going from 0 testosterone to the normal 500-1000ng/dl range) and they gained 10% overall lean mass while losing 10% total body fat over 1 year. A meta-analysis showed ~+4kg LBM and -2.6kg fat. Theres another one out there that measured muscle cross-sectional area and saw notable increases as well. None of those involved any kind of structured exercise program, so essentially it just reflects what happens to an average sedentary person when you massively ramp up their testosterone. What I do think is interesting is that these studies DON'T see particularly notable changes in strength, whereas anyone who's on gear and trains can tell you certain compounds + training can make you crazy strong.

Greg Douchette always talks about that steroids study and tries to say it’s wrong and that if you take steroids and don’t work out you won’t gain any muscle. He tries to downplay how much bodybuilder’s physiques are attributed to drugs. I’ve seen guys who take roids and work out hard and get super jacked. Then they get off the drugs, sometimes for health reasons, continue to work out just as hard (if not harder) as they ever did and months later they almost don’t even look like they lift bro. 😂
