I like this channel because the video length is usually under 15 minutes so watching a video is not a big time commitment. Personally I prefer videos that tell a story and this channel does that. I don't like videos that are like watching a podcast where someone is sitting and talking (reading) to me. Sometimes that is interesting but I watch RU-vid to be entertained and to perhaps learn a thing or two along the way. I like this channel and I hope it starts getting more views as it is well worth watching.
Good morning, Tim! I didn't notice any text over the thumbnail, or a choice of "A" or "B"? Very interesting tips on getting views! Looking forward to seeing how these changes work for your channels.
I do like the bookmark feature on videos that I watch. I had a question about whether or not it counts as a view if somebody stops watching before the end of your video. Does it count as a view if they go more than 50% or does it have to be complete? Also, if they fast-forward through a part of it, does that count as a view or does that take away, the length of what they watched?
My goodness! I truly don’t understand what it takes to have a quality youtube channel. However, I do appreciate the lessons and the fact that you work very hard to share your life lessons and stories with us. It’s always good to see you and what you’re up to. 😊❤
According to Gabe Bult the most important factors in getting views to your videos are the title and the thumbnail. Also in creating a title, consult what is “trending” in other videos and use those words in your title.
I saw thumbnail B and liked it. I like bookmarks and find them helpful for referencing content . I am interested in how these changes work out for your viewership!
Haha, I don't remember the thumbnail. I like your channel and usually click on a video if the title interests me. I love the addition of chapters. I'm going to find a video to show me how to do that for my longer videos.
Thumbnail was the five fingers for me both on front page recommendation and also when I looked to see if it was different at my subscription page for you. Was the same in each of those places.
I have been thinking about this ever since you posted the wonderful story about Keith Jarrett and your take on that concert, and what he overcame to make it happen. I was wishing more people could see it, because I thought it was so inspirational, something we all need these days. But how could you title it differently to make that happen? 🤷🏻♀️I feel like people search for specific topics according to their interests. Last year I came for the decluttering and stayed because of your personality and content. So now I guess you have to rely on youtube to promote your videos rather than views from random scrollers and specific topic searches. Looking forward to seeing how you navigate this ball of wax!
So it's all about eyeballs! Do Comments factor in as well? Great ideas! On this indiv video, I don't see A or B. But under Life In Motion Diaries, I see a small B in lower left corner (under For You & Videos...Play All).
Liked the Thumbnail of This Video. The 1st One, "Not" So Much. I Agree. People Don't really "Pay Attention" to the Hashtag's. Like How you were Showing us a Few Thing's in the C☕️ffee Shop while you were Talking. Have a Nice Day. After Watching This Video, went Back to Check Somethin' Out and yet Another Thumbnail was on the Screen. Still Like This One Most.
It’s easy to overlook (I did!). When you go to post your thumbnail take a look. You’ll see 3 options. It’s the one in the right. You can upload up to 3. Your analytics will tell you which ones are working best.
Hi, Tim. In my humble opinion, I don’t see where bookmarks would help your type of video (for me, the viewer). I find them very helpful when watching shopping haul videos when the influencer is describing an item. If I am not interested in that item I can scroll to the next bookmark to see the next item. With your videos, they are typically one topic each, so I would not be using the bookmarks. (I did note you mentioning it was for AI purposes so maybe this comment is irrelevant. 😊). I enjoyed the scanning of the interior of the coffee shop. Hope you have a great Saturday.
Hi, Tim! All good updates. It will be interesting to hear if any of it makes a difference. I like the bookmarks and will use them when they are there and I need to go back and reference just a portion of a previously viewed video. Thanks for putting those in! I have to confess that I always listen, but don't always watch. I am a busy person most days, so I put on a pair of wireless earbuds and listen to the videos while I'm working. I am an Options Trader, so I don't deal with people, but I watch several computer screens with charts o' plenty! So, my attention is mainly on those screens. Also, I usually try to comment, but I'm traveling a bit more this summer and don't always find it convenient to comment. I'll work on that! Have a lovely day, Tim!
Chip Gaines used to wear different baseball caps, likely sent to him by viewers at the beginning of videos, and Norm on This is Our Retirement often models his vast collection of t shirts from musical groups and talks about them a little at the beginning. You might talk about Wordle, Quordle and others. I think there is an Octoquordle. How did all this get started? Why do so many people love it? We have friends who compare their success or frustration with several family members around the country every day. My husband has quit doing them but when I am stuck, half way through my chances, I make him solve them without looking at the screen. We call it “blind” Wordle. He will sit across the room and I will tell him what letters I have and what is left and he will solve it by visualizing. Maybe try a one day a week trivia fact or “Where is Tim Tuesday.” To see if that makes a difference. Re the thumbnails and descriptions etc. Some of us just watch everything you post, all the way through. However, pulling people in is key. In Journalism they used to say that the headline writers of the world had the power. Carole
Saw the letter "B" in the bottom left of the screen where I could choose to watch you, David, Ron or Phil. Watched everyone's videos, you guys should all do a Panel Discussion on a live stream someday.
No idea which thumbnail i originally saw but i will pay attention going forward. I very rarely read descriptions, only occasionally if i want to find out more about the creator or his subject but in several years of viewing i could probably count on one or two hands the number of times i have read a description out of thousands of views. I might read a description on a first time view if a new to me creator but not again after. In this video i think you have too many chapters for such a short video. And if it’s a lot of extra work may not be worth the effort. I would keep it to just a few if any. Funny about the Japanese person coming through but thankfully you had the forethought to record some background sounds. Also the other day you had a very technical video on editing i think; it’s the only one i may not have watched all the way through but i am sure it was immensely helpful to other content creators. Hope your view count goes up with your changes.
I heard that uploading daily may hinder YT views? Something about people wanting to catch up, so if they've missed a few days, they won't watch the latest video until they've caught up with the previous ones? Not sure if that's true or not. So that may explain why the channel is lower on views, but please keep uploading! I also saw the thumbnail with your hand up.
Interesting, I think I disagree about tags though… I’ve had videos that have been out for a while, and may not show up in search. But in looking at those that do show up, it may trigger me to think of a new tag. Then when I go and add that tag, wham, it shows up in search.
I didn't see A or B as I came via notifications (and couldn't see any text). However, when I went to your channel and look at your videos, this video I saw B. But based on the notification thumbnail it was probably A.
Desr Lord, I hate making thumbnails so bad that I make one and I am done. I am sure that this can be improved but I just dont want to make others… 😅. I saw the thumbnail withthe logo in it.
On my feed I did not see an A or B in the corner. I checked Noth on TV and on phone. Both had the one where you have your right hand showing 5 fingers. Hope that helps
I thought I commented, but I don’t see it so I will comment again. I like seeing bookmarks and videos that I watch. my question this time is whether a viewer has to watch the entire video for you to get credit as a view or is it a certain percentage? Also, if they fast-forward through a part of it, does that still count as watching it? Also, I had a B on the thumbnail.
Good Monday morning…I have admitted I’m not technologically astute on this channel before but I wanted to help you with your questions. First, I had to find out what a "thumbnail" was…then where I could see it. 🤦🏻 Dumb, I admit. All this to say I saw the letter B. LOL.
@@LifeInMotionDiaries I took time because I appreciate your own effort. Though I don’t understand the tech stuff, your efforts to learn and refine are a great reminder of how we need to keep flexing the old gray matter!!! 🧐🧠🧐
Goodness Tim, I'm so very sorry but I am not sure which thumbnails you are referring to. By 'bookmarks' is that in reference to the 'chapters'? Is it possible my android phone is at fault? I hate to say this but with others not seeing the bookmarks, can you possibly create a video to show us? I'm really sorry. 😢
Is a thumbnail the logo in the bottom right corner? I dont notice anything else on the screen Ohhh, so i went back out to where your videos are listed and I see the "B" now
No A or B on my thumbnail. Both on my notification and when I go into your video listing, this is showing the thumbnail with absolutely no text on it. Is the A or B possibly bottom right where the video’s duration timestamp may be covering it?
Dear, Simply relying on thumbnails won't optimize your channel or videos. You need to improve your SEO score, currently 0 out of 100. By optimizing your video's SEO, you'll boost views and subscribers organically, enhancing your search engine ranking. if u want i could show your SEO score.
Thank you for your email. I have responded. Obviously changing thumbnails is not the only thing I’ve talked about here. And these 5 things are just the first of many to come. Thanks for watching.
