The way I worked out 897 x 5 really quickly: 897 is only 3 away from 900. So I multiplied 900 by 5 (4,500), then subtracted 3x5 (15), to get 4,485. It's something I've done for as long as I can recall (a LONG time, as I'm 48 now!). This is a fun and interesting introduction video, Chetna! 😊
Also, for working out the sum of the numbers between 1 and 10 (both odd and even) I divided 10 by 2 (5 odd, 5 even) to get 5. Then I added 1 to 10 (n+1) to get 11; I multiplied it by 5, which equals 55. Therfore, I could quickly work out the sum of the numbers from 1 to 100. N is 100, so n÷2=50 (50 odd, 50 even), 50×n+1, i.e. 50x101= 5,050. I tend to always round numbers up or down - in this instance, I rounded 101 down to 100, then multiplied 50 by 100, and added 50 (50x100 =1000, plus 1x50 = 5,050). N+1 is the key. One way to look at it is: 1+100, 2+99, 3+98, 4+97...you will always get 101. Same goes for all other calculations, like the total of numbers from 1 to 1000. 1000÷2 (n÷2) = 500 x 1001 (n+1) = 500,500. 1 to 10,000 would total 50,005,000. 1 to 100,000 would total 5,000,050,000...and so on.

So, say you need to work out a random number like 562x11. What I've done for many years now is to multiply 10 by 562 (5620), then add 562, to equal 6,182. I suppose my old way is a bit long-winded...? But I love trying other ways, so thanks again for that. 👍👏

I guess, you should write it on your hand when you're taking a break that you have to study, or do some work.. I had the same problem of distraction, but then I started to write it on my hand, whenever I saw my hand, I got reminded that I had stuff to do.. IT'S THAT EASY!! SEE? ^U^

for calculating all even no's between 0 to 100 . this is the formula. first find n means no of terms and it is 50 cuz there are 50 even no's between 0 to 100 now , sn = n/2 ( 2a + (n-1)d) and the answer will be 2550 by putting a=2, d=2, n=50 ,

how about any number x 11, arrange the same number vertically shifting the lower one to the right and the add them eg 10x11= 10 or 4567x11= 4567 + 10 + 4567 = 110 =50237

Mam I have a doubt, In multiypling by 11 section, I tried another number by using the trick given in this video which is 59 × 11 and I got 5149 which is a wrong answer. I would be thankful if you tell me the solution to this.
