That advice works on my XC loop as well. I call it riding efficiently.

Helmet and gloves are the non-negotiables. A shredded hand can happen on minor enough spills and is so prohibitive in getting on with life.

Agreed! A helmet is a must-have! Gloves can be a slightly more personal choice, but crashing hurts even more without gloves! 😬

Good job interviewer...a pro downhill biker isn't very good at communicating the basics (the purpose of this post) you did a great job of translating a tough interviewee into useful points

Yeah, definitely a language barrier. I think the pro was doing his best but it’s difficult to explain specific things in a second language. He did his best tho

I think it was more he's not a native English speaker, rather than his pro DH status making it unlikely. But true, some racers are analytical and verbal, and others more instinctive.

Personally, in order for me to be most comfortable and ride my hardest I need my full face, gloves, and knee pads.

For line comparisons you need the ghost cam like PB. Gives much better visuals.

It still happens so quick even in slow motion. I had to rewind a few times. Could you do the same with a XC pro on a short travel bike to see how it compares in terms of line choice for example.

Guys at GMBN. I know it's a pain in the ass to make videos with athletes. I'm guessing the guy eho edited it has way more gray hair than he used to. But please continue making this kind of videos. Because a competitive athlete can give great insights to the topic

do a comparison of enduro bikes more than 180mm of travel like nukeproof giga, norco shore and the propain spindrift and see which one is the best.

I don’t know what the aversion to wearing full face helmets is these days with gazillions of vents and super light weight. I’m tire of driving people to the ER for facial stitches!
@mjboise2094
@mjboise2094 Год назад
Switched to a full face a few months ago and I wear it every ride now. You’re right about the weight and vents. I ride in the high deserts of Idaho, Nevada and Utah that can get pretty hot but the helmet keeps my head cool and protected.

I'm not so sure half-llids have a place on nearly Any bike type (!). I've seen people in videos get gnarly concussions in half-helmets that wouldn't have happened had they a full-face. I had two crashes where a full-face saved my bacon, talked to a gent who had full-face reconstructive surgery because of a bad crash due to a half-helmet (He only wears a full-face post crash!), and am openly wondering why there isn't a road full-faced helmet. There's a lot of face exposed to kiss/hit that asphalt with those itty-bitty road helmets... Also, full-faced helmets have been the norm for All (minus trials or Idiot Harley riders) motorcycling generes for a long time now. They've proven their worth and honestly, full-face helmets should have been the norm for mountain-biking from day one(!). [As per Rich, the no gloves thing is probably some dumb hang-up on the gloves front I've seen with other riders here and there; makes No sense. You go to great lengths to protect everything else But your hands...🤔]
