5 Step Backup Camera Installation 

Thank you out of all the videos i have watched to connect a back up camera you are the best, Why?....Because you explain the trigger wire green in color how to connect to the monitor and the back wire leading up to the front of the car. So that the camera turns on only when you put the car in reverse. That is exactly what i want and thanks to you, that is exactly how it works. Good job my man keep up the good work.

Thank you very much for this video this is exactly what my camera looks like and I freaked out a bit when I first opened it but you explained it all perfectly! So now all I have to do is connect the power wire to the "wire labeled reverse on my Erisin headunit and it's done!

Thanks for the video..only have a question on how to install a CMX chime module...it came with one of my 3 kits used on the rear view camera but had no instructions enclosed...I think I need an adapter to attach this to the third line open on the monitor. It looks like a mini suitcase and is about 1 inch by 1 1/2 inch wide. Going to Best Buy tomorrow to see if they have an adapter...

Great video! I understand fully how to wire the camera from the reverse lights wiring end and then to the trigger wire, but another question has formed. My radio also offers another option called a camera view. Do you recommend a switch to turn on the camera or might the radio have another wire connection that would turn the camera on when the reverse lights are off?

I'm trying to install a back up camera kind of like style #1 in your video. I hooked up the camera to the reverse light and I have power testing with a multimeter with the long cord. I cannot seem to get picture or the monitor to turn on when using a rear view mirror/monitor. I tried hooking up the monitor to cigarette lighter for power and to the camera power cord separately still with no luck. Any thoughts on what could be the problem? I tried 2 different monitors and 2 cameras with no fix. thanks!

Hi, my honda accord 07 has back up lights near license plate. I was wondering if I can use that as power source for the back up camera since it is required to remover the rear bumper to get access to the tail light? How can I test if the source is 12V using a multimeter?

Nice video! I think what some people like me do not understand is... Does that Orange trigger wire run inside that black video cable thus running the whole length of the vehicle? The way the orange wire appears, it looks like it just starts and you have to add the extra wire to reach the other end of the Orange wire to complete the connection?

wait so does the two wires that come from the back up camera and connect to your reverse lights only power the camera lights or the the camera aswell. if you want have the monitor always on do you have to connect the red wire to an accessory lead that turns on when the car is onm or is that what the small red wire does? do you just connect that wire to ur accessory and it will power the camera on without the lights?

so this 5 step video, starts off with you showing us what to expect to use, and you touched everything! thanks for that- but! you picked up the 12v plug and then never showed how to use it or where it belongs in the system? I'm trying to run both the camera and the monitor off the 12v plug (the thing that goes in the cigarette lighter hole) so it only on when I plug it in and stays on during trailer hookup regardless of truck being in reverse? so red power wire from camera and orange wire from video cable would go together? then red power wire from display and orange wire from rca video cable together and connected to red power wire on 12v plug? then black wire from display to black wire on 12v plug? but but but what about the black wire from the camera? Noone has made a video for the 12v plug so I thought I'd ask before frying this new camera

I have a rear view mirror monitor, my fuse block had some unused spares listed in the owners manual so I used a fuse tap to one of those, and it is always hot, so everything works great, but was wondering if the monitor having power all the time will cause battery drain.

Hi Lorenzo. I have a power acoustik nav/gps radio, purchased the power acoustik CAM-ALF license plate camera. Don't know if I have a defective one or is my radio defective. All I get is a camera symbol with a triangle. It doesn't show anything unless you connect the reverse cable, then when you connect it it gives you the triangle with the camera symbol. Can you help me out?

Excellent professional video. Best one I have seen on the subject. Just bought a 2014 x1 it has Nav but no back up camera. That is the one thing I could not find on BMWUSA. What gives? my BOYO VTL425HD both the video plug and power plug are run through a single plug for 20'. meaning i would have to run the cord from rear of truck to front through console, then run power cable back through the console to the rear of the truck to splice into reverse light. What am i missing?

I just used a lipo battery. I didn't want to cut into my car's wiring. It's on all the time now, but I can live with that.

Hi I am looking to wire my reverse camera to my cars reverse lights. The first time I tried it, i think i grounded the wire wrong which the caused my alternator to become defective and cause the check air bag and abs warning light to come on. It also made the Blowers turn off. Do you think this was caused by me because only a week before my car was being worked on at a body shop in which they had left the ignition on for hours without having the actual engine running. I am looking to give it another attempt but am scared because i don't want to dish out alot of money having the alternator replaced again.

Could vehicles with tow package harness have a connection so you won't have to use taps which compromise the wires!

I have a situation which I wish you can help me with. Before I say the situation, I would like to thank you for the awsom video. The situation is...When I hook up the camera direct, it will will work fine. When I hook it up as a regular way, it will say no signal.The camera gott broken and I ordered another one and I have same. I checked all wiring and everything, and it works fine. I used the om meter reader for the back up light and I got a sound'' beeb'' even When the vehicle off.

The system I have fitted is wireless,the connection at the camera is fine,the connection at the monitor and receiver is a little different. I have power to the receiver off the cigarette lighter wiring and the monitor has +/- and a blue wire, would that be the trigger wire, if it is, should that supply the power? as it is my system works only when it is in reverse but I have to turn the monitor on manually. Hello there, aloha everyone! need some help here if any? I got one of those camera, and ive installed it, followed every single instruction for installation! I have a alpine ive head unit with a reverse trigger, i connected the camera power source to the reverse back up light, and the reverse trigger from the head unit to the + reverse back up light! In the morning is fine camera works ok, powers on when switch the gear to reverse and triggers the head unit to show the back up camera, but the problem is at night, yes! Its When i turn on the tail lights and step on the brake pedal, my head unit triggers to camera even gear is not on reverse, there is no image since camera on powers when i put the gear on reverse! So yeah at nigh when i turn on the tail lights and every time i step on break this happens, it triggers my head monitor in reverse, i tried and check all the wirings, and even replace all the tail light, brake signal light bulb new, but its weird when i remove one of the brake light bulb and turn the tail lights on and step on brake its doesnt trigger my head unit monitor to reverse,! Is there anything im missing? Really need help, thank u in advanced, mahalo!

hi nice video,I have a toyota yaris I buy the camera and a wireless system to transmit the video signal. My question is I went to see the reverse light, there are two cables that comes from the light bulb. One is red and the other black. So what I need to do is connect the red cable of the camera to the red cable of the reverse light bulb and this I think is correct. But there is something I don't understand. The black cable that come from the camera, do I have to connect to the black cable that come from the light bulb of the reverse light ? Or I need to use the black cable from the camera and ground it to the chasis of the car ,without touching the black cable of the light bulb ? thank you

I am installing a PLCM7500 on my son's 2000 Silverado. Im tracking every step of your instructions until I reach 4:44 to 4:48. That wire seems to be 3 ft short if I"m to connect to the wire that is powering the camera. That particular wire that you are showing I have connected to the reverse lights. Where have I gone wrong?? Mine works fine on the day time. Once I turn my headlights and drive around at night I put it in reverse to park I have no signal.. Anyone know why???

1:22, "like we showed you last week." It's now 2017. What if I missed "last week?" You should not have time references in your videos. They are useless. Better to reference, WITH A LINK, to the the previous video. This video is GREAT if you're going to keep you camera, monitor and wires in the trunk. How about showing how to run the cables, connect to the power of the tail light, mount the camera, mount the monitor, and so on. This is not a "camera installation." It's a "camera wiring" demo.

Bad BAD BAD nothing should be connected to the reverse light. test the dam thing for continuity connect the red to the orange and send power down the rca from the front. tap into the reverse wire upfront for the trigger wire.making this far more complicated then needed. Tail lights were not meant to be the primary source of cameras. Hell if your installing it on a stereo all the power comes from the stereo and again sending power down the rca AKA the orange and the trigger wire is connected up front nothing touched on the rear tail lights.

This is wiring guide not an installation guide. You didn't describe how to mount the camera or route the wires.

I have a stereo at one end, a camera at the other and I want to see only when I'm backing up. Pretty simple, but really hard to find someone who can show me how to do it right.

Very confusing explanation. Not all people are going to have basic knowledge of wiring. The manufacturer could have made it much more simple! Also all exposed wiring should be properly using crimp connectors and harnesses cover, and routed along the wiring neatly using cable ties.

NOT helpful at all! Just left me more confused.
