Never Do This When Buying a Car. Seriously, don't fall for these bad selling tactics. As for the sellers, if you do any of these habits, you won't sell your car. They're not only stupid, but probably extremely illegal. False Advertising may be harder to track on an individual personal level, but the fact that Used Car Dealerships also do this...now that's just sad. I ain't a snitch nor am I a Female Dog that rhymes with Snitch. But God Almighty, was I THIS close to snapping on one of these dumb AF ads after browsing through Marketplace for what seemed like an eternity. You wanna know what the 8th level of Hell is? Facebook Marketplace. That's what.

I was looking for a parts car and this guy had two, one on numbers, one not, and i wanted pictures of the one who wasnt on numbers and he said oh im in x town just come and look at it which is like 2 hours away and he also said he was looking to sell them both at once. Then i explained i only needed one and that i couldnt drive there, why he couldnt just send some pictures and then he never replied. Some people i swear

I always love it when the ad says “No problems except gearbox makes a noise.” But when you meet the person and go to drive the car, you realise that 2nd gear doesn’t exist and you have to move the gearstick like you’re changing the tracks on a railway line.

"Camero" Also got a real example in coutryside France, where english is often an obscure and exotic language, to the point that people don't even understand words that are almost identical to French words, someone was selling a Toyota Corolla GTI and advertised it as a "Touine Camme" wich is how a french would write the prononciation of "Twin Cams" in french... the sadest part was that you could clearly see the "Twin Cams" graphic on the car's sides.

Some sides allow you to put in the prefered mileage of the car and there are these demons that set the mileage to 300 when their car has 300.000 miles on it.

Not that long ago there was a practice among importers in my country to mess with odometers and set milage for around 160k km (approx. 100k miles) because it was a "sweetspot" for buyers (right after timing belt should be replaced). People didn't trust sellers that had cars with genuinely low milage and weren't intrested in anything with milage above 200k km on it, so basicly they fuled this fraud

I would see people bring in beat to shit Audis and BMWs from Germany with missing hubcaps and 320000 km and then roll back the odometer to about 110000 to 160000. Really common practice. Or they would get the same cars with 320000 km but totaled (I'm talking smashed into a poll at 30-40 km or even worse kinda level) and patched them 'Billy Bob's car shop' for cheap. Then they would sell them as 'nO AcCIdEnTs'. Some of the cars repaird by 'Billy Bob's car shop' had fake airbags, shtty structural condition, mechanical issues and the interior looked like it was assembeled by a toddler. The exterior pannels had like 1 and a half centimers wide gaps.

With all due respect the term "Low ballers" Has existed for decades. You just happened to hear it from RCR first. Car throttle also used that phrase way back in the day and even 90s Top Gear. RCR you have to remember is also a man of Parody. So he was satirically mimicking the age old phrase of "no low ballers i know what i have" as a reference to the meme. Aka I referenced a man who also makes references to references from other references.

1991 Chevrolet C1500 W/T V6. Rust is minimal if you don't look under the doors. Frame is in Texas. Only running on all 6 cylinders, good interior. No lowballing. Not taking offers. its 12k and it's a classic. I hate when Chevrolet truck owners say that or sell base model W/T's that are rusted into oblivion for 12k when its worth like $800 or less with a rusted frame and like 3k for one in mint condition.

I have personally gotten so used to this I can see it a mile away. The “I know what I have” is the worst. I can see it with a rare limited make like the 64-1/2 mustang, but not a common civic with “mass mods bro”.

I think you can make a 2nd one with little effort :D My most hated stuff is that you can't use the filters effectively on car selling sites (not talking about fb marketplace where they are nonexistent) because the sellers just can't sit down for 10 min and check in all the right checkmarks and no bad ones. The transmission (M or A) seems like a common problem and some people don't know they have a coupe even if the actual name of the car says it. I mostly check older cars like 10-20 year old ones, but just for fun checked a few new ones and holy... With all the engine variants, facelifts, trim levels, options, and dumb car names... Good luck finding the ones you are looking for! Another one I hate is "full service history" but doesn't have 10 sec to shoot 2 quick pics about the filled service book and the pile of bills. Noone will check every word from the pics but it sucks to drive half a day to find out what he means actually is one receit from his friend Joe about an oil change in the last 10 years.

Talking about Facebook Marketplace, I also don't like it when the exact specifications (or in some cases, trim levels) are not given and therefore you have to manually make sure whether or not it has certain features by looking at the (often crappy or non-existent) photos or ask the owner, causing further complications and inconvenience for the potential buyers and what's funny, to the sellers themselves.

When they make the listing seem super legit and the car is a few grand cheaper than usual, and then you see it. Hidden at the bottom of the listing they say “Salvage Title because of minor fender bender, professionally repaired”.

I went to look at cars on the weekend and this used car dealership was in crack. They tried to sell me a up bagged 328i with a m3 body kit that didn’t fit and it had no tune or anything just the body kit. What’s sad is that it’s from 2011 and they were selling it for $29,000. And they had a 2018 s5 for like 60k and their defense was “ but it has low miles” there’s more to making car prices than just miles.
