5 Things About Being Northern 

Us Northerners are addicted to gravy, us Northerners thrive in the cold, us Northerners cannot think of a single time that a brew couldn't be drunk, us Northerners are never wrong, EVER, us Northerners do not have accents it's just Southerners hearing and altogether, Southerners are dodgy snobs who I wouldn't give the time of day to.

its so true, one of the most expensive drinks i bought in London was a single vodka red bull for eight quid, where as when i went up north, i bought a pint for 2.50, Northerner's have it so easy, love you all :D

I'm even more northern, right up at Glasgow Scotland. It's crazy cold so we have cloakrooms up here, but we still refer to the evening meal as "tea"! Again people think our accents are a lot stronger than they actually are, when really it's just normal! :)

I'm german and somehow just landed on your channel and found this video. I have friends in northern England. When I stayed with them the first time (pupils exchange) I was 14. I've learned in school before: english meals=breakfast, lunch, tea 5pm, dinner. It really took me a few days to get that dinner is not dinner but lunch, but that tea is not tea but dinner. And then I thought english lessons here are just old-fashioned and that all british name their meals this way. But from today on I know, only the northern do, haha x

I've noticed a lot of Northerners will say hello to people in public or make idle chat about the weather at bus stops or metro stations but they don't seem to do it down south.

I'm from the U.S. and I've never tried chips and gravy.. I would like to try some now :)

From the South, being at Uni is one of the best and craziest times in terms of north and south having to live side by side and understand each other!

I'm from South Yorkshire (Northerner and proud) and people think that in Yorkshire, the is replaced by t' when in reality the just dissappears altogether, I can relate to all of these things too! Great video!

I Hail from the West Midlands/Black Country/Wolverhampton Area (You know!, that bit where a lot of People Describe as Birmingham!), Growing up, Older Members of the Family used to Describe Meals as Breakfast, then Dinner, then Tea & then Supper (which was Late into the Evening!) Also if You were Working a Packed Lunch was sometimes Described as "Snap" for some reason, Bubble & Squeak was a Re-Fried Sunday Dinner Meal Leftovers, i was Forced to Eat My Meals or else either threatened with a Left Hook by the Old Man or not being allowed out to Play by My more Amiable Mother!, Times were Tough Financially & some times I was forced to go to School with Toothpaste on Cream Crackers!(that Last bit may be a Very Bad Gag!).

I relate to all of these! We also say 'like' a lot too...

I think the worst thing for me is that I have a Canadian accent, but when I moved to the South of England, everyone thought I was American! There's a difference!

I'm from right in the middle of the Midlands and I say the breakfast, dinner, tea thing too! :)

I'm a northerner and proud, I also go by Breakfast, Dinner & Tea and it gets really confusing when people say it the other way around lol

I will never forget the day I was in Birmingham, walked into a chippy and asked for chips and gravy. The bloke looked at me like I was taking the piss and said they didn't do it. One of the more interesting conversations of my life.

I'm in London and my mum calls dinner tea. But lunch is still lunch. Although, we used to call them school dinners in school. Weird.

I'm originally from Manchester and had to move to the south about 8 years ago and I still call my 'dinner' tea 😂 people down here are always getting confused when I say it 😬

I'm not from the North but I do some of these too. I love chips and gravy and my West England accent sometimes can get funny looks, but I'm proud to be from England :)

Im from Boston and we looove chips and gravy and there's a lot of people here not bragging or anything of course you've probably heard about the Boston bruins I have been to all there games from 1996 when I was 7 to today now I'm 23 my birthday is in april but 2011 was my favorite year they've won the Stanley cup and lost year the St Louis blues got it but this year I hope they win it 😁

I really want chips and gravy now. Also, I've been living down South for 3 years and 2 years elsewhere and I don't think I have a Yorkshire accent and I get called posh when I go back up North, but all my friends down here always tell me I have an accent. We also debate the proper way to pronounce things like bath.

I'm from Germany and the accents are so different! I live in the north west and once i traveled to South-eastern Germany and it took me very long to figure out that the person next to me was speaking German :D it was like another language :D

I was brought up in the south until I was five, so I call it "Breakfast, Lunch and Tea". I've also got the weirdest fucking accent ever and get laughed at for being Southern up here, and vice versa when I'm in the South. What the fucking fuck.

My family calls dinner (last meal of the day) tea and when I go to ask someone a question example "what did you have for tea last night?" Thees will be like "What? I'm a northerner too I'm from Hartlepool (which is about 45 minutes away from Newcastle) I can relate to so many of these xD but I've never been down south and stayed there so I've never really talked to a southerner I have no problem with Hartlepool as a town but it's just the massive amount of chavs and how bad they make the Hartlepool accent
