5 Things I Hate About My 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee 

After hearing the word machine so many times, I was anticipating an appearance by Maximus Prime.

They built a new multi-billion dollar plant to build the new Grand Cherokee. So, it has me optimistic they’re serious about quality. They really invested a lot in their latest generation suv.

To program the garage remote, just press the button you want to use with your garage remote at the same time. Works perfect. I just did it with my 2023 Overland Grand Cherokee. No need to press all three buttons at the same time to get into the programing mode.

Love our new GC Summit 4XE. Cut fuel use way down while still giving us the ability to go on trips without worrying about range anxiety. And my friend the Range Rover owner is impressed.

Good video. No cover on my 2023 GC L Altitude either. My only issue is pretty consistent and annoying disconnect on Android auto dropping in and out as i stream my spotify music. I have a Samsung fold 3 and all was good at the begining and now it will drop out. Android auto icon goes away, up pops the no connection warning and 20 seconds later it pops back in. Yesterday all of a sudden I would try to call my buddy...call Jim. It would recognize my voice...I see the display say call Jim and it makes the notification sound but nothing happens. I can't call anyone. Android auto in phone is on, phone book downloading and completed pops up at the begining of starting the car but I can't call out. Display says I'm connected, my maps show up my music plays but can't call out. I can however recieve incoming calls. Very frustrating.

Mine didn't come with the engine cover either which I'm not sure really bothers me since I don't plan on popping the hood much lol. I had the same issue with the garage door openers though. Kind of just put setting that up on hold for now. Still in love with the thing though

My wife said she she couldn’t accelerate after driving a few miles down the road. Valet mode was on at first but then she made sure All the app functionalities regarding valet mode, speed, parameters and the other one (can’t recall the function at the moment) we’re all off. After that she drove a few miles and still had the issue. I saw something online that stated to hit the ignition then press the brake 10 x’s I don’t know if it resolved the issue but this all happened yesterday an hour after driving it off the lot. Do you know what could’ve cause that issue?

Did you get the garage door opener programmed yet? I had the same issue and resolved it by holding the remote and car button at the same time, then going to the garage motor and hitting the learn button and then the car button until it flashes.

I had a problem with my 2011 Chrysler 300 when I had to get a new garage door opener. Car programming didn't work with that one. Had to use the separate visor add on unit. So it might be an older garage door opener unit on the garage door. Or, if not, just hard to program.

Do they still offer “sport mode”? My ‘14 has that feature and I find myself using that frequently for merging, etc. Helps a bit with the sluggish V6. My 2014 JGC Limited has been a great vehicle, considering upgrading to a ‘23. Thanks!

3:24 Rocky Road Outfitters offers a kit for the WL models and claims their lifts are all bolton. No cutting, welding, drilling is required. Since their lift height is no taller than the air-ride suspension at full height, no compromise in the factory warranty either. Their deluxe 2.5” kit includes F/R wheel spacer system for fitting many tire models up to 33" .

does the midnight sky blue exterior have the same problems as a black exterior regarding showing scratches?

Loved your video and I just got mine the 2023 Overland machine :). I could not agree more on the keeping black clean down to mud in the door wells. Please do an additional video about the start stop feature, and the finger prints all over the screen. Overland has the engine cover.

I have the 2021 jeep grand cherokee L limited 4x4 and my only thing I hate is i don't think I can put a leveling kit and little bit bigger tires.

Personally fave similar with my Grand Grand Cherokee, the transmission is best. I got it with the blocking my switching performance. My right mirror was broken rom the dealer and will to fix fix. They cheap on the computer computer. I s bit slow, and get’s confusing more often I might more often. I have Grand Jeep Cherooke 2023 Limied 4x4 L. What do think of that?

Nice video. What you are basically saying is, there isn’t much wrong with your ride. I have a 2022 WL Trailhawk (gas powered, engine cover). Love it. It has an all black interior including the ceiling trim.I have an older friend who has your exact same ride. I don’t know why they made that upper interior trim beige. It shoulda been BLACK everywhere! 😊

I just love my JGC 2023 Limited with the Blackout appearance I’ve only had it for a few months and so far no problems. The only thing that I hate is the dinging when you park and shut it off reminding me to check the backseat 🤬

I had an issue with mine when I tried programming the garage door opener too... It took like 4 tries. But it eventually stuck.

Some garage door openers require you to press and hold the transmit button on the garage door opener main motor first, then press button in car. Can’t remember the exact steps.

I completely agree about the engine cover what a strange thing to leave out, if your going to leave it out it should not look like it should be there.

Whats the difference in the 22, 23 ,24 GC 4xE . All looks the same exterior and interior

Not being able to fit off-road tires on this new GC is a dealbreaker for me. What the hell was Jeep thinking? I know that many people use the GC for a daily driver, but a ton of people use them for adventure and off-roading.

I have 1600 miles on my 2023 Altitude. Love it but.....one thing that bothers me is when I select for the truck to automatically apply the parking brake when I hit park it doest automatically take the brake off when you go to drive.

Mine has an engine cover in Canada, it’s a grand L overland not sure if that matters

I just got an 24 overland 4xE and it’s wonderful. Took by the wrangler for a smoother luxury upgrade. The garage door thing had two ways of doing it. So maybe yours was the more complicated one because mine was.

Programmed garage door today you do the first step you talked about THEN you run to your garage and do the garage motor link run back to car and hold button down twice, 2 seconds each time

The newer limiteds don’t come with any sunroof anymore? What do you get with limited then? Just power seats and a bigger radio screen?!

Does your limited have keyless access where the door will unlock just by grabbing the handle??? And can you lock it from the handle??

Wow. Being that I'm looking to buy one of these machines (not this specific model) soon you had me really needing to hear you out on this. Maybe the word "hate" is the wrong word. From my perspective the only gripe you have that's serious enough to hate, or is an unforseen issue is the garage door remote not working. I would hate that too.

The lower trim levels don't come with an engine cover, but the higher trim levels do have an engine cover on the V6.

I went from owning an all blacked out ford explorer very hard to keep clean always saw a new scratch everyday…just bought a new 2023 Jeep grand Cherokee limited white…your right don’t use half the crap it comes with, especially I find the volume control button for radio behind the paddle on steering rod annoying, the netting on backseats a little cheap

I've never owned a Jeep in my life but with this new style came out my wife and I fell in love with it and it does ride nice I recently bought a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee exactly like yours in white with black accents my question is to you buddy have you ever had any issues when you make a left turn at a corner or find a parking spot at a store and you hear some rubbing on the front right tire FYI it does suck that these vehicles don't come with the engine cover great video 👍

Hi there. Good tour video for your 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee in the Limited trim. Based on what I've seen the base trim up to the Limited trim doesn't come with the plastic engine cover. The Overland trim and above will come with the engine cover. In addition to that, the Overland trim and above will have the 5.7 liter HEMI V8 engine available as an option. In the middle of last month July, I was able to get the 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L. That one has the third row seating. I got mine in the Summit Reserve trim with the 5.7 liter HEMI V8 engine. Even though it's a third row seating vehicle, it doesn't drive or feel like a third row seating vehicle though. That's a clear indication Jeep did a great job with the overall weight distribution of the vehicle. Just like what was mentioned in this video, I don't like the exterior color for mine. The exterior color for mine is also in black. The body color description for mine is Diamond Black Crystal Pearl. I initially wanted it in the Midnight Sky Blue color, but that color wasn't available. That color is basically navy blue. The black one had the V8 engine, so I had to get that. However, within a year or two, I'll take vehicle to the dealership and have them strip off the Diamond Black Crystal Pearl color. Strip that color in order to change it to the Midnight Sky Blue body color I wanted originally. Between the 3.6 liter Pentastar V6 engine and the 5.7 HEMI V8 engine, I chose the 5.7 liter V8 for my 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L simply because my old Jeep Grand Cherokee which I still have has a V8 engine. Not only that between July of 2021 to January of last year 2022 I test drove the Jeep Grand Cherokee L three times. Twice with the V6 and once with the V8 within that span. Basically, it's a very notable night and day difference between those two engines. Instant acceleration with the V8 engine. Nice and quick. In addition to that, a nice lion or tiger roaring sound with the V8 engine. The V6 engine performance numbers are 293 horsepower along with 257 pound feet of torque. I think during a mid-cycle refresh of this vehicle, Jeep needs to increase the torque a little bit for the V6. At least to 265 or 270. The V8 performance numbers comes in at 357 horsepower along with an amazing 390 pound feet of torque. If Jeep plans to have performance models for either the Jeep Grand Cherokee or the Jeep Grand Cherokee L, more than likely the twin turbo Hurricane engine will be used for those. At the moment the Hurricane engine is optional for the bigger brother full size SUVs Jeep Wagoneer and Jeep Grand Wagoneer. Before I go, were you able to solve the issue with the garage door opener? If so, what was the cause of it not functioning?

I'm surprised you didn't find it annoying that the buttons on the steering wheel are a little small

I have the GC Summit and it has an engine cover. Not sure why Stellantis cheaped out on the Limited. As far as the garage door opener goes, you should be able to easily program it using the ceiling mounted garage door motor/light housing. There's a button on it you press, then go to the car and press the button you want to program and they sync up. Its very easy. As far as the color goes, I agree. I owned a black car once. Never again. Impossible to keep clean. White is actually the best for not showing dirt and then grey. Also, the GC Summit has air suspension that works very nicely. I believe at that highest level it lifts the GC up to 13 inches. I also really enjoy the rear view mirror camera and the FLIR night vision. I still own a 2019 Grand Cherokee Limited with only 30k miles on it (it has an engine cover) and I'm giving it to my daughter.

I had the same programming issue with the HomeLink Garage Door on my 2023 JGC and other cars using that same system. If the door does not open/close after holding the remote next to the HomeLink button, you need to perform the following additional steps as indicated in the owners manual section, Rolling Code Garage Door Opener Final Steps. Find and press the learn/train button on the garage door opener, then go back to the car and press and hold the button for two seconds, then repeat if it doesn't open. I have followed these steps several times and it has worked every time. Hope this helps.

Have you figured out how to get larger tires on? because of the suspension arm being so close to the front tires...

You should have gotten a ceramic coating if the paint worries you.

My 22 2 row $60k Overland is a nice $40k vehicle. 3.6L only gets 18mpg 22 highway. I can get that out of a 4x4 crew cab pick up with more tech for cheaper. The trade in value is the worst of any thing i ever bought. I wanted to trade mine in and go back to a full size truck 2 weeks after i bought it. Two different dealers offered me $42k for it. that was when you couldn't find these. I never lost that on anything and I trade in every 3 or 4 years.

I have a great idea , just pop off a 3.6 L challenger engine cover from the lot and put on the Jeep 👍 lol nobody will miss it! Well hell, as many mopar vehicles you have bought I THINK THE DEALERSHIP SHOULD JUST GIVE YOU ONE!! By the way my c8 doesn’t have an engine cover as well 😐 bc the hardtop convertible does not get one. I assume that’s because you can’t see the engine in the convertible version. And the engine compartment is sealed off for the convertible hardtop to be placed in.

If u buy jeep 2023 jeep Cherokee they won’t fit big tires but if u buy used like 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee they will fit big tires no problem. U are understand ? U got it. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

I was seriously considering buying a 2023 Grand Cherokee Trailhawk, but the loss of power now that the 5.7L Hemi is discontinued, and the inability to fit better (larger) tires has unfortunately taken it off my list. Although the interior is rubbish compared to the Grand Cherokee, it looks like I'll end up buying a 2023 Ford F150 Raptor because the ability to handle moderate trails is very important to me (unlike most buyers, who seem primarily to purchase for image rather than utility).

Black is the best looking color on any car but I like a clean car and I will not get black. Goldish is the best color to not show the dirt. I personally love white, it doesn't show the light scratches.

why would you keep a brand new car for just 6 month - a year???

It’s a JEEP, not supposed to have a ‘engine cover’ ie plastic cowling. That’s what a HOOD is for. Just one more thing to get in the way for us mechanically inclined people who still actually wrench on our own vehicles instead of make TikTok videos about things we don’t know about cars

Just got a 2023 GC. Mine has the engine cover.

I have been driving the same model for a year now. I came over from a Genesis, and I like my Jeep overall. But, two negative things. One, Grand Cherokee does not have auto brake hold with V6 engine. Two, lane departure assistance is the worst in the market, even compared to a Civic.

Jeep actually comes with this book called “the car manual” that is probably in your glove compartment that showed me how to program the garage door opener. Took me 2-3 minutes to program two doors. No RU-vid video needed . Thanks for the video.

1-you know what really cleans up an engine bay..? ..closing the hood. It’s a jeep GC. These are not going to cars and coffee to show off the engine. 2-quit “pimping out” your grand Cherokee. Buy A/T tires that fit your car. They will work perfect. This Jeep is made for the road now. ..good vid though

This JGC Limited trim vehicle has lost 38% in the first year ... And will probably lose another 8% by 2025... That's 42% in 2 years ....that's just crazzzzy...

There's no engine covet the gas pedal has no rubber pad on it . and the gas door You used to have to pull the switch for the gas door to open now you can just open the outside by touching it. Somebody could easily know tamper with your fuel if they wanted to

You have to have an Overland or a Summit/Summit Reserve to have the cover. Laredo and Limited do not have it.

We just bought a new 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L Limited in Midnight Sky. I absolutely hate that uConnect 5 system--it sucks. The uConnect 4 on my 2022 Dodge Charger Scat Pack is so much easier to navigate through. Our Jeep was on the lot. It's got that aux screen up front for the passenger. What garbage; Jeep should of just put in a better sound system instead.

You know Toyotas don’t have the issues you think is normal with vehicles that are new or old. Get a 4-Runner and or Tacoma and you will never take them to dealer for fixing. Also, new Grand Cherokee does not have good color selection. They need greens and beige. Black is terrible for keeping clean and scratch free as you found out.
