This video discusses what I hate/dislike about my Mini JCW during my almost 4 years of ownership. Music: Local Forecast - Slower by Kevin MacLeod Free download: filmmusic.io/s... License (CC BY 4.0): filmmusic.io/s...
The one thing that erks me about the Mini any of them is the Sun Visor, it does not screen you from the low Sun when you turn it to the side of the drivers window, and it is not long enough to cover that window.
I have owned a second hand Mini Clubman 2009 for five years and I use it as a gig car because it holds my travel guitars and musical equipment perfectly. Because of low ground clearance and the fact that I live in the Rocky Mountains with snow during the winter months, I garage it during that part of the year. I really enjoyed and even learned things from your video. I think you made an excellent presentation. I'm looking into buying another Mini, maybe the "E" type. Thank you, kind sir.
We have a 2024 Cooper S. Dislikes: #1) We also have several other sports cars. Our other sports cars can show you oil temp, oil pressure, water temp, and alternator voltage right in front of you on the dash, at all times. MINI is severely lacking in driver information. #2) I don't like that when you raise or lower the steering wheel the tach and the speedo move with it. #3) The Cooper S should come with the current JCW level of horsepower and the JCW should be at an appropriate level above that. For the amount you pay for a Cooper S or JCW, the horsepower is very expensive.
I had an idential Mini to yours. Mine was a 2015, direct from the factory, with every available extra on it. I got rid of it at 3 years old. I had the same issues with mine. I also hated the fact that the pedals were offset (Mine was an auto). A friend of mine had a Cooper, with the same issues with the cruise control. His slammed on the brakes at 70mph on the motorway, which caused an accident. He said the seat belt got so tight that it caused him chest pains. He died the following day of a heart attack. I'm sure it was related. I loved my Mini. I've owned 5 BMW Mini's, but never again!
Sorry to hear about the loss of your friend, my condolences go out to you and his family. I wouldn't say the issues were a real gripe, i never loss sleep over it, but it was more of an outline of what i thought were issues.
I have an F54 SD Clubman and I have 18s on mine. I've never had 1 puncture in 2 years of having them. Yes it's a bit noiser ,but that said I actually like them. Your Mini is real nice tbh. 👌
Like it or leave it.... While the Mini isn't as mini as it used to be, it's still quite small in comparison to the plethora of behemoth SUVs that crowd the roads. With a small car comes a small boot without room for a spare tire. Hence, the run flats. Maybe not the best riding tire, but perhaps better than the side of the road at 3 am. Of course, you could always swap them out and take yer chances. Also, with small cars, smaller visors. These could be bigger, but they'd appear awkward if they were. Maybe there's an aftermarket visor extension or something.
I’ve had my 2017 JCW for the last 5 years - TBH most of the issues you’ve mentioned has been a non issue for me. One of the first things l did was to swap out the tyres and wheels for Michelin PS4s and OZ Ultraleggera wheels which improved the ride no end. Cruise control is something I hardly use so no issues. Electric dipstick is a non issue. Door rub after 6 years, no major problem. Basically you’re too fussy just get rid 😂
1. Just change the tyres... 2. Oil should always be checked with a warm motor. What you had to endure was waiting ONE minute sitting in the warm. Wow... I prefer that rather than getting my hands dirty in the cold. 3. Considering your anger about the fancy oil-check, why hating about the cruse control. Dude... just use your foot. 4. The rubber sealing on your door will not scratch or wear down your paint. Take some WD40 and and you'll see... ...its just rubber ON the paint. 5. Not showing the double pipe... well.... yeah... that's actually something to get mad about XD
Thanks but none of this was dead serious and I no longer have the car, apart from the cruise control thing, I did almost have a full on accident because of it
the safety camera in the front window that i have also in my 2023 mercedes actros when the sun shines into the pit cover at a certain angle, then all safety systems go off until an emergency stop
Run flats are proper shite. I’ve had 2 punctures and we had to call the tow truck on the second occasion as the Mini just couldn’t make it to the tyre shop even below 80kph. Utterly useless. Then loads of shops don’t carry that tyre as well Oh yeah - do you know the Mini leaks through the rear lights. If it rains hard you’ll get water in the boot.
Nice video. I've switched to non-runflat Hankook Ventus S1 Evo3s on my JCW and can really vouch for them them. Had Pilot Sport 4 on before and the Hankooks feel just as good and a massive saving per tyre. The oil checking is a headache as first time the oil light came on I was 100 miles from home and had to spend £35 for an overpriced litre bottle at a petrol station, always carry a sealed 1litre bottle in the boot now
the mini is no rols r but driveble i love my20 23 cooper s cabrio r 57 i am 64 and everday is fun the 42 000 euro car is falure for the mony sorry for the poor englisch
Well if you put on non run flats maybe itll be different and pump your tyres up it looks low in the front i can see from how your tread is wearing, its your choice :'D and this thing is awesome on a track and it measure oil during normal driving to let you know if its low, something that we couldnt do maually while driving we first have to stop, get a cloth, open the bonnet, take the dipstick out wipe it put it back pull it out check the level mean while all you have to do is sit in the car and measure the oil electronically in the MINI, and it would have finished or even taken the same amaount of time. ideally your feet should never be of the pedal even when using cruise control. Remember beggars cant be chooses when buying second hand, that mark on the door ach means your door is bent or miss alighned.
The tyres are actually on around 42-45psi which is the recommended amount of pressure on 18inch alloys with RFs xD The door isn't bent or misaligned, marks like that on the door arch is a common fault amongst all minis f56s and bmw 1 series', not really a big issue but its just something to be aware of :)
I hated my mini JCW so much 5 months later i sold it. One of the worst cars ive owned brutal ride quality i changed to non runflats not much better. Best day ever when it was driven off my drive.
The pirellis it comes with are terrible. Absolutely crap in the wet and just crap in general. Switched to PS4 for 3 years and now PS5. Moved up a size to 215/40 aswell. Got a Clubman now, and chuffed with it. Driving in a jcw now is a bit of a lost cause with all the speeds humps, traffic and speed cams.
You must like something about the car ? There's plenty of other cars if you dont like it. A VW or an ST or a an Audi S1 or a i30N. If you can't afford the tryres really the cars going to suffer because you can't afford to maintain it. Hopefully this ii not the case and you're just having a moan. Anyway take care and have a good 2024.
