Today I go over the 5 things that I hate about the new Ram 1500 Limited! Second Channel: / @thebenhardyshow Instagram: ben_hardypl Facebook: @benhardycar
I'm very disappointed. This is one of your most misleading videos. You just struggled to find 5 things to complain about. Things you mentioned are highly matter of personal preference. 1. Air suspension - it's a luxury truck not an off roader. 90+% probably never take it off road. So gives you better ride quality. As you said it yourself want an off roader get a TRX. Why compairing them? 2. Chrome - some like it some not (you can get a black edition) problem solved. 3. Engine - I think it's awesome that ram offers all engine choices through out the entire line up ( and for example you doesn't have to buy the highest trim if you want a more powerful engine) You have a v8 hemi, what's your problem with the etorque? It adds a little extra performance. So? 4. Options - they probably went this way to keep a reasonable base price. You can opt out lower trims to 70-75k and you end up better if you go for the high trims straight away. This way it's even a better deal. 4.5 since wheels or whatever your problem was. Totally different but have you seen a Tesla configurator and what they charge for "premium" wheels? Guess wheels are eeeefin expensive. Not a ram only thing. Find it expensive don't order it. Those who order it probably have the funds. (and for them it's worth the money) And finally I dislike this content what you did with the limited. (Seems you're not the only one though) You basicly "cried" for things that are not "life threatening issues", not construction issues that the model has to be recalled or whatever. Did that on a REPLACEMENT truck? Acted as If you actually spent money on this truck and now you're disappointed. This "5 things I like" now "5 things I hate" thing is Pure clickbait If someone sees the 1rst video - Oh he is super impressed , let's get this car/truck (And miss the I hate videos ) might end up regreting it. Make ONE decent review with all the pros and cons. Then make a final conclusion if you personally like the car/truck or not. Is it a value for the money? Etc... This way viewers can think about it too. Oh wait. that's only 1 video half the views.... :P
I totally agree with you. The air suspension has been great for me. This channel is losing credibility. My biggest complaints with the limited is the forward collision warning is overly sensitive when passing bikers and frankly scary. Also the width of the truck is a lot when driving and parking in the city. I believe the F-150 is 2-3” narrower.
"but for me, being 23 years old, it's completely useless." Buddy, at 23 you are NOT the target market for this truck. Most 23 year old "kids" can barely afford a Tradesman.
This video is misleading. I have limited night edition with everything except the protection group, ram box, and multifunction tailgate. 1. Price 59k 2. Doesn't have the chrome 3. The suspension doesn't lower when I remote start, it stays high. 4. Off road stuff isn't really why I got the limited, it's like a business professional truck to me.
@@aaronbritt2025 my sticker price was 74k I negotiated for the base price and 0.9 apr. I say that understanding a Ford with the same features was averaging around 80k. That's why I say it's misleading because I know all the other big truck names do the same thing they charge for all that stuff.
@@nobs.1794 The reason why we compare sticker prices is because discounts are going to vary based on regional rebates and how willing the dealer is to negotiate. Take my loaded with every option '18 F150 Lariat powerstroke. Sticker was $69k. I paid $46k because I'm friends with the finance manager. He gave me the maximum discount, plus he searched out every available rebate. Not everyone would get that price. Btw, you misunderstood the part about the truck lowering. Ben didn't remote start it to lower it. There's a button on the remote to lower the truck. This is mostly for loading stuff into the bed.
Dude can’t even stay properly in his lane while driving and he’s giving pros and cons. Get a different life buddy. This one’s not for you. Complaining about air suspension, which you can leave in standard setting if you don’t like it. About chrome and options which are totally personal preferences. And wrong information about the engines. What’s wrong with having an eTorque which only provides more torque when needed and doing nothing bad to fuel economy or driving experience? This man is total bullshit.
My 2018 jeep grand Cherokee trail hawk has the air suspension system, it’s nice while driving on the road because it’ll change the height to be more aerodynamic, but it would also be useful in the truck for me so I could lower it to make it easier to load my motorcycle on to the bed of the truck
I Definitely like just the regular naturally aspirated Hemi in my Ram over the other engine choices I had to choose from. I figured it was just more stuff that could break and give me a headache after the warranty goes out. Nice video!
Ben I agree with you on the chrome and the engine options, I think you should reconsider you “options vs standard” position because I hear it a lot from others. Anything that you think should be standard that is currently an option would just raise the base price, but the fully loaded price would not change (much), Money is cheap right now, but an additional $20,000 will price some out of the market. So If they included more of the options as standard a portion of their buyers would go in another direction. When I looked at Raptors a couple of years back you could find base models in the $55,000 range and that opened the door for some to get into a Raptor with all of the performance (albeit stripped) and “cool factor” it offers. When I optioned it out the way I would want it, the price rose into the $75,000-$80,000 range. So instead of allowing someone looking in the $40,000 to stretch themselves to be able to get into a Raptor, Ford would have simply priced them out of the market. I am torn on the airbags as standard. I had a Sequoia with standard rear airbags and they really helped reduce the sag when towing, but in this case having them on four corners standard seems like overkill.
I love the Air Suspension, I tow a camper and it levels right up. Plus rides like a dream…I love the chrome on my Limited. I do wish they offered the 6.4 Hemi
Friendly reminder that the Hardon/Kardon system is tuned really badly from the factory Also I love how he talks about the truck’s performance lacks while driving in the bike lane
you just shocked me that you're 23. Thought you were near 29, glad to know a young man so mature and understanding of autos is doing good work these days.
Some of us actually like chrome. Regarding the 6.4 Hemi, are you looking for the 6.4 that is in HD trucks or the one that is in the Challengers/Chargers?
@@BenHardyCars Just wondering if you can actually tow with that. I understand that there are a number of differences between the two for the purpose of towing.
Imagine buying one with the pentestar v6. Buy it for 56k, and a week later when you want to sell it it’s worth 30k. Completely mind blown the pentestar is even an option on this truck
Got 2019 limited here and glad i bought it when i did , absolutely love it.. i opted out to avoid etorque just another bug to go wrong and a future repair bill, now everyone has not even a choice, only complaint id say was the rear window frame getting the hairline cracks above the slider but thats covered anyway, but sofar so good knock on wood
I wouldn't want the e torque system, the power running boards, or the air suspension because those are absolute failure points and expensive to fix and/or replace.
You’re a little off on your 6.4 specs. When put into a 3/4 ton pickup, the 6.4 has 410 hp and 420 ft lbs of torque. With that little of an increase over the 5.7 it wouldn’t be worth the extra money for such a little gain
Agree, I wish my 2020 RAM limited had the 6.4L. Don't know why they (FCA now Stellantis) is letting Ford get ahead of them on the HP war in the top of the line model... Also, I HATE - HATE - HATE the shifter knob on the dash. Bring back the center console shifter that they are now using in the "T-REX" !!! There's plenty of room in the center console anyway...
A lot of these complaints most people dont realize how easy it is. To fix.. perosnally the ecodiesel is phenominal, great MPG, great towing. As long as you drive 50+ miles a day youll never have an issue. The chrome.. blacking out chrome is very cheap amd easy. Fixing power output. You can get a very soft tune especially with the exo diesel that will add a few lbs of boost, and increase throttle response. And power output and stillxget youxbetter MPG. Not everybody wants 700hp in their truck with 8mpg. Especialy with massive price upgrades to do it.
This video is basically the equivalent of a GT3RS owner yapping about how he hates that his 911 has a fire extinguisher if he is not currently on fire.
I love your videos but this one is terrible. It’s reaching to be honest and that title. I know you think you need clickbait titles for people to watch but really you don’t. Good content sells itself. Also you can still get a ram without etorque. I do agree with you that they need a bigger engine option for the Ram.
Some 20+ year old make really good income. Why not to own one. I am 57 and never owned a pickup truck. I was never a Ford guy or Chevy. GMC, maybe. The 1500 RAM really got into me. I took one Limited for a ride while doing an oil change on my Cherokee. Boy, do I not regret trying one. Very impressive truck. Such a super ride and design. To the point that this might be my first to get when my lease is done. I am just waiting to see the new RAM EV. I hear, they are putting some heavy tech in the EV. The only thing I do recommend is getting extended B2B coverage, if buying one. A lot can go wrong.
You may want to look into things before posting. You can order the Limited with the air suspension deleted and you get a discount. In Ontario Canada, many dealers order all their Limiteds without because they are known for issues.
The way it looks is that you probably received a corporate loaner to review. The beauty about these trucks is you can option it the way you want. And if you bought this truck then like some of the other reviewers said you bought the wrong trim level. For an upgraded engine you have the TRX. If you don't want air suspension get the laramie or the way I like to do is start of with the big horn and then option it out. A lot of the truck owners are not geeky hence the tech package is optional ...
The new Rams are the softest looking trucks I’ve ever seen. I’ve lived overseas, so I’ve seen some soft trucks. Ugly exterior with a gorgeous interior.
Not sure where you got your information from about the eTorque in the 2021 limited but you can purchase it without the eTorque as a 5.7 hemi VVT, I recently purchased a 2021 ram 1500 with the eTorque and there was one right next to it in the showroom and it did not have it. Thanks for your information but this is one video you did NOT have to do-a lot of these things are misleading, besides I have Family in the great state of Texas and the majority of them drive Lifted trucks. Again thanks for video.
A couple points and I know that you know the list you made is just nitpicking but just my thoughts: 1. The air suspension is more for Ride comfort and less for going off road. Especially with those wheels. 2. They do offer premium wheels as standard. These are the optional wheels, most manufacturers offer additional premium wheels including Ford and GM.
Ben, does the longhorn come standard with air suspension? My gripe is up in here in Canada the air suspension fails all the time. Buuuuutttttt I want the head lights on the limited/longhorn. I also work in the oil patch and do a lot of off road driving. Thanks and love the content!
No. I got a 2019 Longhorn and no air suspension. I could of ordered it but even the dealer said our climate is to cold for it. So I didn’t opt for the air suspension. I love the truck so far
And me being 21 I have a 4th gen express which is almost like a tradesman (might be just don’t know). I then decided you know what I wonder if I can turn it into a Laramie. 4-5 years of owning the truck it turned from a cheap truck to a Laramie full black interior and radio swapped with apple carplay all on a 2015 model Edit: I didn’t do air suspension because it’s useless I did a 7” lift kit on 37s and have air ride only for towing so the back end doesn’t drop to the floor.
Dude I don’t even have a ram truck yet , I order one 2022 limited, but the 5 things you hate are actually nothing to hate ,I think you get a Ford full off plastic than I would like to see what you hate , I’m watching video after video about the ram 1500 limited and from what I learn it an amazing track probably on off the best truck on the market so far , I can’t wait to get my baby ! Peace out !
Obviously you don't tow anything, the entry/exit suspension is great when connecting and unhooking from the towed equipment. Also, the air suspension rides like a dream. Why wouldn't your want etorque, saves fuel and adds power. Lastly, I LOVE the look of chrome...
What pisses me off is my 2019 Laramie had the reclining rear seats and 4way lumbar. My 2022 Laramie they stopped installing these. I really liked those two features. The interior also only comes in black. I love the air suspension. I'd probably have gotten the Limited but stupid Ram doesn't make it with a front bench style seat. What can we do about it 🤔 Just complain on RU-vid and make RU-vid videos about their stupidity 🙄 You can't just think about yourself regarding the air suspension or any other features. It does really come in handy when I'm loading the bed especially. And I love my split tailgate opening either way. Also love the control knob shifter. Enjoy and always drive safely 🙏🏼
I just picked up a 2020 laramie longhorn with out air ride no etourqe 4x4 same wheels. I freaking love it. That's why I went longhorn. So maybe look at a longhorn instead of the limited. Wouldn't trade mine for yours for sure. And it flat out runs
I love my 21 limited. Engine is great and limited is purchased for the interior/exterior leather-trim package. Wife wanted to buy a limited grand Cherokee....I said let’s go sit in the truck afterwards.....we bought the truck. More vehicle for less money. Room is great. Center console fantastic. The only thing is I wish rear seats folded down.
With you 100% with the air suspension. Mines a 17 Limited, and as soon it's below freezing, it's popping the fuse and the front end drops on top of the front tires or lists to one side. Besides that, it's a beautiful truck. In the process of trading..off to Ford..
I own a 2020 Ram Limited in Granite Crystal with the black seats.. My truck was hard to find equipped as I wanted. Your are mistaken about being only available with ETorque. My truck came with a non- ETorque 5.7. I am fortunate to have lots of income and don't care about fuel economy. I removed all of the chrome from the front of my truck because I drive very fast and have both radar and laser jammers in mine and did not want chrome on mine for that reason. I wanted the great 6.4 485HP engine, but as you said it was not offered. I removed my 5.7 and had it replaced with a 448 CU. INCH all forged Arrington hemi. I also had a Stainless Works complete quiet exhaust system from long tube headers to tailpipes. Mine also has a Cold Air Intake and a custom 93 octane tune. It has 3.92 gears and limited slip rear. I purchased the largest brakes available for it which include massive 16 inch 6 piston Wilwoods up front. The engine makes 200 more wheel horsepower than the 5.7 stock motor and it is a blast to drive. Mine has 20 inch wheels beacause I did not like the taller heavier 22s. I only wanted 4 wheel drive because in needed it for launching my boat on steep ramps. It averages 10 MPG with me driving and that is just fine with me. I love the truck and will keep it until something better comes along. I am sick that Rams will be coming with that 3.0 inline 6 in the future and expect that to be a reliability nightmare!
I have a 2020 Ram 1500 Limited Edition that has the naturally aspirated 5.7 not the eTorque. I was surprised because I thought they all had it too, but mine doesn't. I bought it used so I don't know if the original owner special ordered it? It is the black on black night edition with every option available except the trailer steering. I absolutely LOVE the air ride, my only issue with it is that I wish it was more versatile, meaning that it needs to have a little more travel range and be able to drive it faster at higher heights. I don't like chrome, but Ram gives you options. I don't like the leather wrapped dash. It's impractical to have black leather glued to a dash where the sun is beating down on it, mine is already failing, but I live in Florida. I bought it used still under factory warranty so they are replacing it with the exact same thing even though I told them I was fine without the leather. I'm taking extra precautions by adding window air deflectors and a dash cover. Speaking of window air deflectors, that should be a standard. Every truck I buy I end up having to install them. The way the cab is designed if you leave the windows cracked on a hot day to vent the hot air from the cab it's fine, unless it rains. The window air deflectors allow you to crack your windows and vent it and NOT get rain in. Personally, I would have passed on the sun-roof, the electric back window, and the electric tailgate. The key fob entry/exit button should really be an option for those that need it, most don't. I wish Ram made it so some of the new options could be added like the digital rear view and cargo camera, maybe someday. I don't understand why Ram didn't do the start/stop function on the naturally aspirated engine when my wife's Kia Sportage has it and hers isn't a hybrid? Absolutely love the truck, but they need to get to a point where options are more plug/play so you can get them, or not, right at the dealership. That's my take on everything.
It’s hard to agree with the idea that they should make more things standard. You can’t expect a low base price and then expect more stuff packed into that base model without the price jumping. The more options people have, the more freedom they have. Let’s keep it the way it is.
You compliment the trucks base price as being much cheaper than the competion, then complain that the extra luxury options aren't standard. Which if they were would bring it closer, but even then still cheaper than the competion. You complain about the air suspension which is a "premium" option is standard. So which is it? Do you want premium options standard in a luxury truck or should they be options?
Alright kid! I’m guessing you were an only child? And your parents would have a birthday party for you and no one would show up. So you got your cake and got to eat it all too!
There are no complaints about my 2020 Limited because I'm simply grateful I'm able to drive this Beautiful Machinery everyday. It's definitely the best truck in the world in my opinion. Well actually I take it back i have one complaint... I hate that I'm nowhere near owning it. Only 65 monthly payments more to go... Lol!
Air suspension is nice when it works...WHEN IT WORKS! Having issues with my 14 Longhorn. Been in the shop 3 times and costing me more than $5000. People also don't realize that it uses Nitrogen NOT AIR. Not all dodge dealerships even have the equipment to work on it..
Couple of things: 1) Ram 1500 limited for 2020-2021 have the regular 5.7, the 5.7 etorque, or the eco diesel. The regular 3.6 isn’t an option according to Ram’s build tool. - I have a 2020 limited with the non-etorque 5.7 Hemi. 2) air suspension auto levels with heavy loads and allows for the ride/handling to remain the same even at max payload. Much safer and comfortable. 3) performance engine = lower corporate EPA/emissions rating. Requires buying credits or making things EV to compensate because EPA hates Fun V8s. Which is why they dropped the 6.4 HD because they generally don’t get an EPA rating.
Wonder if Ram will offer a Bilstein adaptive suspension similar to the TRX as option along with the air suspension. From what I've seen the air suspension works well for street use and the adaptive works everywhere even off road. Though I can see the price tag on that system above $3+ grand though Chevy charges $5 grand for their magnetic suspension.
Agreed Ram should have the 392/Hellcat/Viper engine available on limited Trims like the RT/SRT or Super Bee. Allpar noted that Ram thought bringing a production version of the Hemi 426 but later scrapped after Sergio Marchione passed away :( Rumor has it that Chrysler had a V6 Turbo in the works (maybe the legendary slant v6?) but now that Setllantis took over most likely will come after 2024
Why even buy it if you don't like it?...🤔 I got the same exact truck in the black edition (Not so fan of the chrome either) and I bought it because I fell in love with it since we crossed sights... if I have found something that I don't like about it, then I just wouldn't buy it... It's one the most complete and luxurious truck out in the market right now...
My GOD, sorry to bring him into this. You start bad mouthing a mans truck, well you're gonna need him on your side. Much of what we like or dislike is opinion or matters of taste. My first new truck was a 74 Ford 4x4 half ton. (Curmudgeon Alert) I have driven lots of trucks and just love PU"s. Towed RV's and my favorite is the Ford but they are all pretty good when you come down to it. I currently drive a Ford Ranger and this truck is pretty awesome, Ford could have done better like all the manufactures., let's face it profit is what really drives (pun intended) the truck market. In 1974 I could have never imagined a PU costing over 50 grand let alone nearly 100 grand. What ever you've sunk your hard earned money into my best advice is to take time and enjoy it.. I ge int my Ranger and just cruise dirt roads sometimes getting into the thick of it, just enjoying being out there in my truck.
I owned cars and trucks in the 80s and think truck buyers today are kind of nuts. What normal person needs a truck that goes 0-60 in under 5 seconds and costs close to $80k? It seems more about attention seeking behavior than practicality.
You're just a young whipper snapper! Many older folks love chrome! Anyway, it's a good looking truck but I don't like Ram's engine choices, they need better gas mileage.
I agree with the poor engine choices Ram gives you, a limp v6 then a gas guzzling hemi. I sold my ‘98 dodge 5.9 liter because of poor mpg, just got tired of feeding it constantly. If Ram offered an engine in between the six and hemi I would have bought one, instead I bought a ford, they offer 6-7 engines to choose from so you can drive what you need
You obviously don't tow because the air suspension balances the truck so it doesn't sag. You buy a limited to get options that you don't need so why get a limited? Your reviews makes no sense. Sorry but bad review.
Over all I love RAM but I want them to offer massaging seats, offer v6 twin turbo from Alfa Romeo, offer 6.2L naturally aspirated with out super charger, improve rabel front grill. I don't if some notice on limits chrom front grill there is two different type of chrome going on personally I don't like that. Limited should have atleast 500hp to keep up with competition.
