I don't think you understand the purpose of this car. This car is designed to be the most dailyable supercar whilst being normal and comfortable like the carrera. This car is far more comfortable than the audi r8 and mclaren 570s without a shadow of a doubt. Those cars were designed to look and feel like proper supercars. The turbo s was designed to have supercar performance in with the usability of a vw golf lool. The turbo s is what we call 'a wolf in sheep's clothing' :)
But the Turbo S is faster than both the 570s and the R8 lol on a track and in a straight line too, do you even do research beforehand? Not to mention you drove an older model.

The 911 turbo S is not "arguably" the best sports car for daily driving, it IS the best car. You can't compare this car with an audi or a mclaren. Take them to the track and you'll see...

@gloxxify I you are talking BS mate... the R8 V10 MK1 did a 7:44 with christian von saurma in damp conditions in winter. He is talking about the new MKII variant. That car lapped the nordshlaife in 7:30 on cold track conditions and Michelin Pilot Sport 4S again by Christian Von Saurma. The Turbo S did 7:17 on Pirelli P-Zero Corsa, not the Pirelli P-Zero which is the counterpart to the 4S.... I like both cars, but get your facts streight ;)
@Thomas B.0512: or a Tubi sport exhaust. They're made for the 911 Turbos in Maranello (home of Ferrari). I did this in my 1st Turbo S (a 991). The 2nd one (a 991.2) I left stock to be more civil around town, but there are other options. Sport exhaust change also boosts power around 20 HP. A conservative upgrade for those wanting it without changing too much of what the factory built.
Okay let's clear a few things up: 1. You're driving the "old" model Turbo S (991.1) and not the latest Turbo S (991.2) that is still in production and has more power (580HP over 560HP). I'm sorry but the difference (esthetically) isn't that hard to tell... 2. At 2:20 you say that the Audi and Mclaren have more power... yes the V10 Plus has 30 more hp but the Turbo S has more torque and has the fastest 0-60 time of them all. 3. Also somewhere at 2:20 you say that the Audi and Mclaren are faster on track... uhm I don't know which track you're talking about but 9/10 the Turbo S is the quickest?

The window is designed to raise slightly when in the all the way down position and the door is opened. The reason for this is to secure the top of the window between the seals so that it doesn't rattle when the door is closed. It retracts fully back into the door once the door is closed. That's a level of refinement above and beyond most competitors and super cars twice the price.

Audi R8 faster than 911 Turbo S? That's news to me. If im not mistaken in 1/4 mile Audi R8 runs low 11's-high 10's while 911 Turbo S runs in the mid 10's
dont agree with you on a few things. 1. The interior is already perfect so they didn´t need to make any remarkable changes. Porsche interiors use to be all about perfection. Its even on an other level comparing to the Hurcan and many many other cars out there. We dont need to talk about McLaren electronics..... 2. I agree a little on the sound thing but i dont agree on the comparison with the R8 Plus and the McLaren. The Turbo S is smoking both on a straight. Only on the track they might be an opponent but the Turbo S will be the Nr1. A car is not better just because it looks exotic and the exhaust is loud. You got to love the 6 cyl boxter rumble. The Turbo S offers the best package. Best quality build (interior and exterior), the best straight and maybe the best track performance (the mclaren might be an opponent on some tracks) dont forget the 2 rear seats and the incredible brand. I would compare the R8 Plus with the Porsche GT3 and not with the Turbo S but ok

The 911 turbo s is one of the worlds greatest sport/GT cars. It is equally at home on the streets of Boston as it is at Laguna Seca. Easy to drive, best pedigree which is why it's so similar to the first imported version which starred in a movie called "Top of the Hill" back in the day (I'm old) You can lease one for $2300 month which means that all us normal people just need to watch some Tony Robbins and figure out how to double our income, buy a house with garage and go to the dealer. ;) Just like that

Rumour has it that a 991.2 ran a 7:23 on the 'ring in traffic, unofficially. Porsche doesn't sell this car as a track car, exactly, and has never published the data. It might eat into their GT3 sales and they probably make more on the GT3 given that they have no turbo systems, or front transfer case.
An official lap is likely quicker. On most tracks, the 991.2 will beat the lap time of a GT3 or even GT3 RS. That 553lb of torque comes in around 2000 RPM and just fires the car out of corners. Sure it's a bit heavier, but it's also a fekking spaceship on wheels... lol

@santiago trevilla: You are correct. He is showing the 991, not the "facelifted" 991.2. Compare them. This one has the older front fascia lights, older style steering wheel, etc. And no, the interior is not finished like the cheaper Boxster. The models labelled Turbo also have wider bodies than the Carreras. Best to make them even *more* understated by removing the model designation leaving only a classy "PORSCHE" in the back. Those that know what it is, don't need to be told what it is. Those that don't know what it is, don't need to know. These cars attract enough attention as it is. Who wants even more attention (like from cops)? It's perfect as it is. If you want something else, get something else and stop biotching.
A RP Not necessarily true regarding the Turbo S having a wider body than the Carreras'. Any Carrera above or on par with the 4S has the same body width as the Turbo/S.
Randall Tarly: I'm unsure what is "Not necessarily true". It either is or isn't true. The Turbo S has the widest of the 911 bodies short of the RSR with the flared fenders. The C4S is indeed wider than the regular C2S and I believe the same as the GT3, but the Turbo S has those side air intakes and the widest body. At least it was in the 991 series. With the 991.2 they may have "tweaked" it a bit, but I haven't checked. I have a 991 TS (2014) and a 991.2 TS (2017) so I know about them best.
Randall Tarly: From the Porsche site itself: "The all-wheel drive 911 models have a 4mm wider body...". But the Turbo S has a body over 70 mm wider body than the rear wheel drive Carrera S (the "C2S"). That's over 7 cms. Almost 3 inches wider. A big difference. They need room for the side intakes which are lacking in the 4S (or the GT3).
@Colton Williford: Porsche is known for *understating* their performance numbers and that is way better than overstating them. Besides, perf numbers depend on where and when they are tested. In higher altitudes, performance drops, cooler temperatures tend to be better than hotter ones, track/road quality and grip can differ, etc. Ultimately, 0-60 mph is not why one should buy a car. It's just a factor. A difference in a few tenths does not a good car make.
Well you could argue understating the performance is just as much of a "cheat" as overstating it. Sure if you overstate on PAPER people will say the car is faster. But understating is sort of like building up an excuse for your car if it loses. If you win: WOW with LESS POWER it goes faster. If you lose: meh it has less power, its NORMAL that it loses.
Porsche was not, has never been and will never be for showy people!!! It's an engineering statement in its purest sense, for who know how to appreciate.
McLaren reliability is atrocious at the moment. Porsche is right there with Lexus however. Added two back seats, tons more room for storage, more creature comforts, and gee I dunno the ability to get it serviced at a Porsche dealership within about 50 miles of just about anywhere in the country unlike the McLaren where you have to SHIP IT to a dealer. McLaren doesnt like distributing their repair manuals either making it even difficult to get them worked on at independent shops. I like McLaren. They've come further in 5-6 years than any car company Ive ever seen. But, they still have tons of teething problems. As for the Audi R8 V10+, its driving dynamics, weight, and overall ability are not in the same league as the other two. In most road tests it continuously disappoints after you get past the engine. People buy a Turbo/Turbo S because they dont need to scream "look at me" at every intersection. They just want to drive.
Exactly the 911 turbo s is the adult choice. Plus it has way better resale value and a larger community. I love audi and the new r8 but the ubiquity of the 911 in metropolitan areas make it more of a sleeper among the exotics.

Porsche beats both the R8 and the 570 with acceleration and it totally ditch them in the turns. The Porsche even has more power than the McLaren! Porsche 991.2 Turbo S 0-100 km/h: 2,7 seconds (580 hp) McLaren 570S 0-100 km/h: 2,9 seconds (570 hp) Audi R8 V10+ 0-100 km/h: 2.8 seconds (610 hp) He forgot to mention the best thing about Porsche compared to most other brands... they are built to last forever. They rarely break down and when they do they are much cheaper than the rivals to repair. I feel like this guy didn't do his research...
This is like saying ' why would you buy $500 leather shoes from Weston, that look similar to $50 shoes from Zara, when you can buy something more exotic like this -hideous- $500 Gucci shoes'. The interior is perfect, and the quality is way better than what you can find in a used 458 or Mclaren.

the glass window comes up a few centimeters when you open the door so if you close the door it will hold the glass window more secure and it doesnt rattle. When the door is closed however, the window goes al the way down.
Lija Saji I understand that, I was presuming that this turbo s was the 991.2 which would have 580 metric horsepower which is more than the 570s. Anyways I'd probably take the 720s or the coming GT2 RS instead lol.
People who know, know that the turbo is the better deal. The last time I checked the 911 and the R8 were very similar on the track. And you missed the important point there: depreciation.

I was in the Porsche dealership the other day and a lot of there showroom cars had less than 5k km's with 2-4 owners. Apparently they get a lot of them back....
thats because all porsches are built on the same parts.. its like taking lego pieces and rearranging them. the only reason a 911 is better than a Boxster or Cayman is because Porsche wants it that way. They could all be the same car if they swapped the engine parts properly.
Saltlemondrink almost every car companie is doing this for example the mclaren 570s and the 540c or lamborghini 610-4 and 580-2 and so on. it is more like an optional extra to have a turbo s than a Carrera.
The thing is , a 570S can't be your every day car meaning you will rarely drive it , but u can drive a 911 turbo S every day. In my opinion , the 911 turbo S looks better than a R8 V10+ by looks . The 911 looks like a beast .....
It has the engine in the rear. it is not mounted central like Ferrari, Lambo, Mclaren, etc. I really don't know how you could but a glas on the rear of the car to see the engine
Its a sports car. Its not meant to have supercar cosmetics like a glass cover to put the engine on display. 911 draws a very fine clear line between those who adore it and those who don't.
Porsche holds value, most reliable and the shape of the Porsche is iconic. Porsches can be daily driven, McLaren 570 is entry level and Audi R8 w Lambo engine are both more expensive to maintain. DB10 good luck with costly fixes after your warranty. Luggage space, best line LOL
