I have to agree. The new car looks better inside and out. The performance is as good as the older cars with full bolt ons and tune, if not better right out of the box. These things on E85 will give supercharged gen 1 cars a run for their money.

That spinning GR logo on the gauge... can you change that in settings? I saw the protype has the round 86 logo, while some videos have it start as the GR then changes to the 86 at the end before the gauges pop up. Just asking because that spinning GR logo is a step backward and quite an unnecessary change from the original 86 logo.

I ended up having an accident in Feb in my FR-S totalling it. It was full bolt ons with e85 and manual. That car felt great and had a flat power band like the new car. Fast forward to April 30 and I got pretty lucky to pick up a premium manual GR86. I always said I'd never buy a new car but this market made it actually make sense. I'm surprised how much difference the torque made. Even with full bolt on/e85, my FR-S did not feel like it could keep up with the Gr86 and I haven't even redlined it yet.

I was seriously considering purchasing a used 2014 to 2016 Cayman S or base manual 6 cylinder model. And the prices are 40 k to 60 k depending on mileage ect. But after watching your new GR 86 videos I'm really digging the GR 86 it's very well balanced. I have no desire to track the Cayman, so the base model would check all the boxes for me, because of that I truly believe the GR 86 also will check all the boxes. Maybe in the future can you compare the GR 86 to a used base Cayman. I like your style I sub your channel.
@adamrico3701
@adamrico3701 2 года назад
Get the Porsche Cayman all day over this if prices are like for like. You can get a good condition 987.1 Cayman S for $30,000 or less, that will blow the doors off this car. Maybe not so much in the smiles per dollar category, because both are fun cars, but I had an FRS and went to a 987.1 Cayman S and it was night and day difference. I loved the FRS but that Porsche quality, fit and finish, mid engine balance, 6 cylinder engine, sound, power, braking, etc. is absolutely breathtaking. Picture this 2022 GR86, but then kick it up several notches in every aspect, including handling, interior quality, fit/finish, power, braking, etc. and that’s what the Porsche gets you. As it should since it was 2X plus the price of this car when new, but if you are on the fence, the Porsche Cayman won’t disappoint. That I can guarantee. But if you can only barely afford 30,000, get the GR86, since it will have warranty whereas a used Porsche maintenance is not cheap, but my Cayman S was extremely reliable and had zero issues maintenance wise. As far as practicality, the Cayman S holds quite a bit of gear in the front boot and the rear boot. So it could be a daily driver too if you don’t need more than 2 seats. Also, IMS issues are really over exaggerated IMO. I know several 987.1 cayman S owners with zero IMS issues. I personally never had any IMS issues with mine either.

The audacity of this dogwater company is pitiful. For those that don't know, Kevin Vo was fired from FT Speed on 12/13/2022 in a disgusting way. Buy your parts from somewhere else than FTSpeed or Subispeed folks; support somewhere that supports its employees and treats them with respect. An 8-year, passionate, face-of-your company employee deserves the respect and courtesy of at least a conversation being had about any conflicts of interest or things that would necessitate termination of employment if continued. To outright fire him out of the blue without giving him a heads up or notice that something he is doing/saying will not fly and deny him the ability to make an informed decision on what his options are going forward reflects poorly upon FTSpeed/Subispeed. In a game where you just play the middleman, I will gladly take my business elsewhere to some other middleman that isn't FTSpeed/SubiSpeed; there are a plethora of other options out there that can access more or less the same catalogue of items. FTSpeed/Subiespeed did Kevin Vo dirty, when Kevin Vo was a SIGNIFICANT part of why the company is as successful as it is today - hopefully yall's marketshare takes a deserving hit and Kevin lands somewhere that will treat him better and be worthy of the good-business his passion and efforts bring forth. If you enjoy content like this, look up and support Kevin Vo's personal youtube channel, where I'm sure he'll be continuing to put out excellent, valueable content without getting screwed by SubiSpeed.

@TypeVertigo
@TypeVertigo 2 года назад
No, they're the same. In some markets, the BRZ is actually rated slightly higher than the 228 crank HP advertised in the US. As before, the main differences are in the suspension tuning. Toyota goes stiffer at the back and softer up front. Subaru also relocates a few mounting points such as on the rear sway bar, and uses aluminum wheel knuckles where Toyota sticks to steel.

@KevinVo
@KevinVo 2 года назад
@@eduardelric considering base models to keep the price in range: A 2022 Mustang puts out 310 hp and weighs 3,532 lbs giving it a power to weight ratio of .088 hp per 10 lbs. A 2022 Camaro puts out 275 hp and weights 3,351 lbs resulting in .082 hp per 10 lbs. A 2022 Miata puts out 181 hp and weights 2,341 lbs which gives it .077 hp per 10 lbs. The 2022 GR86 & BRZ puts out 228 hp (which seems to actually be under reported from the factory as it made 215whp on our dyno) and weights 2,811 lbs giving it a power to weight ratio of .081 hp per 10 lbs. This indicates that all while being lighter (other than the Miata) and more nimble, the GR86/BRZ is well within the performance range of the competitors listed. Newer Camaros and Mustangs make great track cars, but those are usually referring to the higher end models. You can't tell me you can take a base model Mustang or Camaro and have it handle better than the new GR86/BRZ stock right out of the box. If we actually consider how much dyno's seem to be indicating that the car makes upwards of 240 hp at the crank, that would put it at similar power levels to the Mustang. To say that this is a $24,000 car is ludicrous.
