Do you have any exercises for the hands? I have RA and my hand strength is really getting pretty bad. There are many things I just can't open. What would you suggest for hand strengthening? How many times should we do it? I'm always afraid of overdoing something because every time I overdo something I enter myself. I know that that is due to my RA but something's got to give! 🤔 Thanks for all your help ❤️💖

I think your exercises are great, and simple. Usually whenever I felt I should exercise it would be like going to a grueling job, just trying to get it over with. Wrong attitude. But your exercises are so simple and focused, on the right places, that need exercising the most. I don't have any to add, except pay attention to your body, to any new ache and pain, to work that area. The body is kind of like the car where when you know one area needs work, and ignore it, it causes another area in car to break down. Our body always gives us clues to anything not going right, in the body, and we should heed them.

Greetings to you Eric from an 83 year old in an old age home here in Auckland, NZ. Due to covid-19 and lockdown, we are allowed to exercise daily, otherwise confined to our rooms with no socializing. I walk around the complex for about 45 mins each day, this divided into 3 x 15minutes. Today I discovered on RU-vid "5 Things Seniors Should Do Everyday"! These exercises I'm sure will help me as I have difficulty getting up from a chair and my balance isn't too good. I've put 2 cushions on a chair to help me with the squatting exercise but as my legs get stronger I'm sure I'll eventually remove the cushions, one by one. As you can see I have now started with these exercises! Thank you so much.

Brilliant video Eric. Another one i'd like to suggest is hamstring stretching. I found it completely cured my plantar fasciitis. When you stretch out your hammies, your heels and feet start to twinge and throb in a non-painful way. After a day or two, my plantar fasciitis had completely gone. I now stretch my hamstrings every day.

Interesting! I have started setting my kitchen stove timer for 30 minutes. It gets me up and while I am up, I walk around my apartment for 3-4 minutes or do a task of some sort. All to often I find I have been sitting for 3 hours. When I get up, my feet have to be reminded that it's time to move.

Very good, I work in water with seniors at retirement villages and am always on the look out for exercises. Hearing the five exercises made me feel good as I use them constantly in my classes so it has validated what I am doing. I have now got you book marked , Thank you :)

I'm a senior and your "5 only" grabbed my interest. If there were more I would have lost concentration ... and wouldn't be able to remember them. Btw, they are great stretches that makes such good sense for people who probably sit on their bottoms most of the day. Ps biggest plus is no equipment needed

Thanks very much. I just bought a Cubii Jr1 with dumbbells. I am incorporating your exercises into my routine. Our YMCA Aqafit pool has been closed since March 2020. I'm 73 with Fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue. It's essential that I fight through the dreadful fatigue. The pedalling really works because there's no pressure on joints. Taken seriously, using upper body weights and movement is key to a senior's workout. I agree with your tips totally. I add upbeat music to the the workout that really helps me get motivated. Otherwise, I will have no future. I've been struggling to walk outside on the street. There's no post exertion malaise with a pedal low resistance equipment. I ordered a proper ombus Cushion for the straight back simple chair that I'm currently using for the Cubii. I can do chest stretches easily while pedaling. You need to pay attention to what you are doing. I couldn't possibly read or knit with this enhanced seld created program. I will continue to view your videos for tips. After 22 years of Aqafit in water 50+ inches, I know what I can do. Getting off the pull of gravity is critical. Walking really hurts while the sit down proper pedaling exercises don't. I took a chance on trying something new. I'm glad I did. Keep up the good work you are doing. Every exercise is important after 18 months of being shut in.

I do yoga 3x week and walk most every day. When I put something in the microwave I do squats until it stops. I'm in my early 60s and can stand from a deep squat without holding on to anything. If ya don't use it, you'll lose it.

I only see you at this time of the year as my walking days are numbered due to winter weather- I thought that I would only be able to do half of this workout but….to my surprise I was able to do it all and remembered that you’re the one that calls us SUPERSTAR - love it. You are so awesome sir! My BFF and I were having this very discussion the other night on the phone. I told that we're going to have to start exercising. She is 73, And I am 58. I do feel very very young as a 58-year-old but my physical body has really deteriorated. I used to exercise a lot but I got plantar fasciitis in both of my feet in 2019. By the time I was diagnosed COVID had hit and I had to wait until 2021 to have foot surgery. I had my surgery in April and May respectively for each foot and now I am wanting to get back to exercising. The exercises that you just showed are very important. And they are a great idea! I have been having cramps in my neck that I don't know what to do about. I called my girlfriend to discuss this with her and tell her that my doctor gave me Flexeril and the cramps have gone away. But she told me to be very careful with this medicine that it's very bad for me and I can't be on it for long. Do you have any advice for neck cramps that I could do? Thank you for thinking of older people that are out of shape. Again, I know I'm not that old but I'm terribly out of shape 😞

Run a minimum of 2.5 miles 2x a week, 20 push-ups every day (if you can: I like to hold the edge of my bathtub); and 20-25 squats holding the kitchen sink. I also do karate horse stance, and cat stance, right & left (3 sets each) and/or 3 sets of kicks. Do at least one exercise every day from the group above. You are giving me a lot of new ideas to use, thanks!

since atrophy kicks in as we age in my opinion the exercises ever senior should be doing are squatting, overhead press, deadlifting, bench pressing and using a prowler. Most likely seniors will live a close to independent life.

WOW! What a great video--you are such a wonderful teacher! You are clear and concise and make it all so simple. Your caring for others comes across loud and clear in the video. It is such a joy to have an exercise instructor who is not on a head trip or asking seniors to do stuff that a young person could hardly do. One thing I do everyday in the shower,is stand on one leg ,bring the other up and wash between my toes and then the other side !!Hold it for 15 seconds ,makes a good stretch !!!Havnt fallen over yet !!

Good video! I would definitely add squats for the ladies and push ups for the men. This utilizes their naturally stronger areas. Thanks!

Thanks for making these simple, clear, and doable. Had meniscus knee op and taking time to rebuild muscle strength and mobility and lower back strength and flex.Also dealing with foot neuropathy which complicates flexibility . Any other hints you’d pass on? Thank you!
