If you can afford it, absolutely get a 4ft enclosure. They explore alot more than most people know and will do so if you make it easier to travel through clutter
I watched so many tutorials before getting our leo in Dec 2022. Not one mentioned they climbed until yours! However, our Gecky showed us he, in fact, climbed out of the tank 3 times in the first couple months! Thankfully, he never got far.
One of mine is absolutely OBSESSED with licking paper. I had her out while I had my notebook out taking notes for an online lecture and she just was licking the paper like crazy I had to put her away😂
Yeah, and there's the issue of people just parroting whatever advice they've heard before when they have little experience with keeping them. A lot of people blindly believe whatever the "care requirements" are, and ignore how the animals actually live in the wild. Most of these numbers are so arbitrary, not based on any science but rather guesswork and anecdotal evidence, but people can't wrap their heads around it. A good example is tank size. People think tank size is all that matters, then provide zero enrichment in the tank (decor, plants, etc). Would I rather live in a fully-furnished, clean apartment, or a bare, dirty mansion?
I honestly did not like leopard geckos until I started watching your channel. Then I fell in love with my Blaze. He is super friendly and hilarious to watch. He lives in a 4x2x2 Kages that is bioactive.

I'm binge watching your videos about them because I just found a pair of sisters for sale in my area while searching for a terrarium. I was actually planning of buying one from a breeder, but having 2 rescue for me is not a bad thing as I know I'll search for proper care and check hours of videos about them like I did for my jumping Spider 😅 Thank you for your amazing content and I'll do a bioactive enclosure too with succulents 😊 I gave all the plants and most of the substrate already due to my plant collection 😅
My leopard gecko Jango was my introduction to the reptile world and wow is he amazing! He is so smart and personable and I now have 5 reptiles. They make amazing pets leopard geckos are popular for a reason!

so in your videos you say a 20 gallon is the bare minimum for a leopard gecko, which is 360 square inches of floor space. so for 6 leopard geckos you would need at least 2,160 square inches. if i’ve done my math correctly and you have a 4 foot by 2 foot enclosure then you would have 1,152 square inches of floor space (almost half). anyways my question is why would you go for half less than the bare minimum requirements?
Keep in mind that 40-50 gallons (36x18x18”) or larger is strongly recommended for a single leopard gecko. A 4x2x2’ is not large enough to safely/ethically house six

I totally agree with the number #2. I was once a breeder but can't keep up with meta morphs. Top breeder always lead the morph market. When people buy their product, at that time the breeder experimenting with next meta morphs.

@@WickensWickedReptiles please do. I’ve seen so much misinformation about them saying the “super dwarf” doesn’t actually exist it’s just a stunted mainland. Or a locality like the Volta ball python.
My leo is super special because there is absolutely nothing special about her. She's just a gecko, yet I still lose my shit sometimes when I see how cute she is. They are so ridiculously personable and have about three more brain cells than crested geckos in my experience.
I have a 4 x 2 x 2 for Leopard Gecko, with plenty of plants, dirt, rocks and bugs. I want to put in more plants but I also want to keep it an open dry habitat.
I just wanted to make a comment on the cohabitation part! My gecko Ghost used to live with my older gecko, Cheeto, when he was a baby. Sadly Cheeto passed away from old age (20.5 years old) and after that, Ghost hasn’t wanted to live with any other geckos. He gets along fine with them, but once they are in a tank he doesn’t want to have anything to do with it. Just wanted to point this out so people don’t just buy another gecko and expect it to still go well with a gecko who is used to cohabiting
Your channel has been great my buddies sister moved to a different state had to leave her gecko behind my friend couldn’t provide the proper care so i ended up with it.I used a soil and play sand mix with. The soil i used for my substrate was very moist i love in houston so its very humid down here, don’t know if i need to use a different kind or use less of the soil or just a different substrate all together any help would be appreciated
It's funny because I've owned many herps for over 40 years now. I've owned a few of these through the years but never really fell for them. They just seemed a little bit boring for me. Cute little animals and very interesting in their own way but just not for me I guess. No hate towards them. I just like other things more and we'll probably never buy one again.. But as far as ease of care and things like that, these are definitely decent little pets. Good video, keep up the good work!
We got our two leopard geckos from a neighbor. We have one male and one female. They have always been together. Last night the male has started biting at and on the female. I just use paper towels in their tank because the make had a prolapse and the vet told me to just use paper towels in the bottom of their tank. Anyway do i need to separate them since he is all of a sudden biting her?

Hi i have a leopard gecko he’s my brothers but he just left for work out of state a few days ago. The gecko hasn’t been eating I personally haven’t seen him eat in weeks I’ve tried to feed him but he doesn’t pay attention to the mealworms his tail isn’t as big as it used to be and his skin looks very greyish like i was wondering if there was something i could do or if it’s best to take him to the vet when im able to?
Before getting a leo i didnt know they like to climb and uts true but not for all of them, like humans they have different personalities. I have 2 leo that really love to climb love to fall too.. so we had to figure a way to let them fall without hurting themself ahah. But the other 3 i have are very groundy type, they love to sratch the ground and build castle with their soil. Btw i love these animals but it become addictive at one point i wish my house was bigger to get more ahah
silly question, texture wise, I know what a crested gecko feels like (they're so smooth and fun to handle!!) I am considering getting a gecko for the first time and I am torn between the gargoyle and the crested, I love how derpy cresties look, and they feel so soft, but I kinda prefer the structure of the gargoyles looks wise. I was wondering, are gargoyles as smooth to the touch as cresties?? if so, I might be sold lol
Hey! I have a off topic question about my leopard gecko. He is a male and he started licking his butt starting like a month ago. It is kind of swollen, not red not that swollen just a little. It also lost its appetite. What should I do? Should I go to the vet?
I paused your video because I had a thought because I have. All-purpose sand that I mix w concrete for crafts. But I had to stop your video to Google. Venom is really just modified saliva. So all the enzymes that can be found in saliva can also be found in venom, and Vise Versa. Venom just has a little more in it. Saying that a Beardie is venomous is not much different than saying WE are venomous, or a dog or cat. Actually, cats may be more so. The enzymes and bacteria they have in their mouths is so potent that getting bit by one, even a small bite, often leads to severe pain and inflammation, and in many cases necrosis. Beware of cats! Anywho, my point is that you can make the claim that a LOT of animals are venomous based on the enzyme content, but I believe a truly venomous creature is one that has a) a potent enough content to deliver some sort of damage and b) a way of delivering that content [fangs, grooved teeth, stingers, etc]. Since Beardies really have neither, it is a bit of a far stretch to call them truly venomous. And that makes sense, as their main prey as adults are leaves😂😂 In regards to the Santa Catalina Rattlesnakes, here is another fun fact. Originally, there were no large hooved ungulates or predators on the island. Thus, no need for the rattle, which they lost over time, instead focusing on the more powerful teeth for catching winged prey. But if you visit the island now, you will notice that there are actually bison on the island, anf the locals make a big deal out of it. You can find all kinds of souvenirs with the bison on them (absolutely none with the rattlesnake, which is total BS). The bison were brought to the island for a movie, and then left there. They bred prolifically, taking over most of the island. It became a big problem, because the island isn't that big, and not equipped for such large herbivores. So the government stepped in and sterilized them. I think there are only a few hundred left, of that, and eventually they will die out. But the locals still make a big deal about them. The presence of the bison is relatively new however, so did not affect the natural history of the rattlesnakes all that much, although I have heard reports that some do have a small rattle now, but I have not been able to confirm that. So, in case someone visits the island and sees the bison (cruise lines go there all the time) and wonders why the snakes have no rattles if there are big hooved animals around, now you know. The bison were introduced and have not been their long enough to affect the snakes. Oh, and the snakes are pretty limited to the northern end of the island, and cruise lines go to the south end, so unless you make a special side trip, you are not likely to see them, unfortunately.
The fact that they can be cohabitated makes me want them even more if I’m being honest. I’m not ready for that yet but eventually it would be super cool to have a nice large enclosure with a few geckos
No more grave than them falling off the much higher things available to them in the wild, zoo enclosures, etc. I've never seen or heard of an animal built to climb just randomly falling with such sure footing available.
