I think Hammer has potential down back but there’s a bit of recency bias in your take Jakey. His last qtr was good where he had a few intercepts and looked exciting. His ball use was solid all day, fair upgrade on Doogs in that area. Main problem was he got beaten on the lead a fair bit by Marshall. I think they only scored 1 goal from those shots though, could have been far worse. But he’s worth persisting with for sure, at either end of the ground. He’s got the size especially with another preseason to play on the big key fwds which would be nice.

1. If Hammer can learn to spoil from behind he's a good key back. 2. Our mids don't care about taps. When Campbell was in there it was a tap battle, if we got it nothing changed, if they got it Butters ran free and kicked a goal. So I guess fix our mids or we're locked into defensive rucking 3. Wilson's been dropping off, one of his worst games. Maybe we could rotate the younger bois so they get time to adjust and improve their game in the twos. 4. Most of the bois look scared of contact or just not very competitive. Higgo, Wilkie and Wood played really brave and went back with the flight a lot, just most of the team would not. (also Higgo and Wood have had crazy injuries so maybe it's bad to throw away self preservation to win a game) 5. I have hardened my heart. Yay we kicked 60

Ken Hinkley has survived for so long because he's piled up wins against the same teams every year, he would love St Kilda for keeping him employed.

1 When we think we have improved, think again until we can beat Port. They are probably our number one bogey team. 2 Hammer was respectable in defence. Maybe worth continuing... 3 Rowan kicked a career high three goals. Could almost been four. And he loves a goal. 4 Ports mids were just too fast and we are one paced. 5 Max needs to watch his first year highlights reel to see what sort of player he was. The most recent player that comes to mind that has had the same sort of downwards trajectory is Jack Watts

1. Ro- bleeds red, white and black. Back him in, support him to play as long as possible. Handy forward. Pairs well with tap ruckman. 2. Dan Buttler can tackle like a machine! If his engagement means more cuddle practice, settling down suits him. 3. Battle and Wilkie-Solid as a rock! Vital players. 4. Mase invaluable! 5. Max King is not best when isolated and engaged in a physical wrestle with body. He can still mark. He can still add value and play a role, but his upper body has not developed as he would also have liked because of his shoulder injuries. Play him in the half-forward zone and give him space. And support him on his AFL journey where things have not gone all his way and a reset is perhaps needed.

I’m not a King hater. But can we please be real for a second. His leading patterns stink, he’s weak in the contest, he doesn’t take marks we thought he would and his work ethic really isn’t at the standard we need. I know he’s a major piece of the forward line but something has got to change with him.

Max Kings attitude doesn't match his ability. Might be time to cut losses and shop him if we can't extract his potential. Also time for Steele to give up the captaincy and pass it on to Wilkie. Midfield is still a steaming pile of dogshit. Butters and JHF were laughing all the way out of the middle. Caminiti looked alright in defense. Maybe a replacement for Battle when he inevitably leaves. Still have the worst forward half game in the comp.

I’m sick of all the negative comments. If we aren’t developing players properly then don’t critisise the player, go back to the source. Do we need to clean out the assistant coaches and start from there. Just a thought! Y

How far is Max heath off from getting a game, I've heard he is great. I'd rather have him in over tom Campbell.

1. King is wasted at full forward. Play him at HF- bring him into the game. if that dosent work I don't know what to do with him.

A 2nd ruckman to allow Marshall forward worked well today and should be tried again this year, but what about Max King being traded for 2 top 20 draft picks ? He doesn't play at a level of intensity or consistency for a senior St Kilda side so why not move him on for some young guns before Tasmania steals the nations best talent for a few years.

1. When Missy is inaccurate we lose. 2. Our midfield doesn't deliver the ball to the advantage of our forwards. 3. We stand still, too close to each other at the contest. 4. We have lost 4 games by turnover kicks kicking out. 5. Player development seems below par.

Hiw can anyone give any positive comment about the saints. Bloody poor again😢

Cooper Sharman has more to offer than Mazda king at the moment..1 goal and 1 goal assist in limited playing time...plus he made himself a target...

Unfortunately we were beaten out of the middle when Campbell was in there, he was better around the ground, What the hell is Max King doing, he plays bereft of any forward line craft.

i rather have years of improve and a grand final match than desperately trying to save seasons that are over

Ken Hinkley having a cry because this will be his last win as coach. Based on today they will lose every other game, St Kilda are too mentally weak to beat them and hand them 1 or 2 wins on a silver platter every year.

Young players aren’t coming on this year except Nas. We need a new Captain. You can’t have Steele & Sincs sooking it up together after that kick in blue. Forward of centre fundamentals. Where are they? Kick to advantage, body use in marking contests. Keep Battle Project should be a top 3 priority for Saints. I don’t care if you have to treat him and his family like royalty

Thing learnt Max King is the most pathetic tall forward in the league I can't believe he is getting payed over a million dollars a season to give up.

I know we love Owens after last year, and I wish he was in the midfield, but on his form this year he has to be dropped.
