5 Things You Didn't Know About The Alfa Romeo GT 

Ahh my first Alfa Romeo. I fell in love with it's design. Stromboli grey with red leather. 18inch Toora spoke wheels. I couldn't afford the 3.2 but opted for the 2.0 JTS. So many admiring looks especially from German car drivers. Still miss it but now I'm in my Brera.

What an outstanding piece of design the GT is. It takes 147 and 156 underpinnings and makes something 'more' without adding any extra volume. I've had two now, I love the design so much.

I just bought an Alfa Romeo GT after owning a Alfa Romeo 147 and it's amazing! It has everything, its practical, sporty yet comfortable and it looks absolutely stunning. Love my Bella🍀

I have it for 11 years now in the 2.0 JTS version and, man, I don't want to drive another car. Well built, silent, with torque from the low end of the revs, responsive and incredibly roomy. It is such a pleasure to drive it and, believe me, it still makes people's faces turn when I pass. What a moment of genius design and creation for Alfa Romeo.

I loved my GT. I think this was a great era for Alfa design (at least in the recent past). There was the 156, 147 and GT, all great locking cars to my eyes. Many cars today seem ‘over designed’ if you take my meaning, all unnecessary vents and lines, but these were just perfect. As others mention, the GT had not just the looks, but practicality too..

I'm at the 3d Alfa GT 1.9 diesel 150HP. I keep it for a while, i try to upgrade for a more powerfull engine, then i allways get back to it and never get tired or bored with it. It's just a complete, affordable coupe with plenty of power, comfort, looks and good fuel consumption.

Still beautiful after all these years

One the most loved coupes in Portugal(they not lose that much value), the most genius move, it's 1.9 jtd engine, they sold like hot cakes back in 2005/2006. I remember people looking at this car like something from Mars.

Thank you for your beautiful channel. Such great content and charm. From 1998- 2005 I sold Alfa's in Sydney Australia. The GT was, like the 166, a classy interpretation of the breed, but not the most fun or the best quality. Felt 75% it's potential. 147 and 156 GTA, like the GT, were not fitted with a suspension or differential to accommodate the glorious Busso V6, but were so exquisite in other ways you forgave them. A characteristic of all V6 models in this era. The 1980's V6 transaxle cars such as GTV6, 75/SZ were far superior Alfa's in my humble opinion) 3.0L Spider, as flawed and compromised as it was, remains my all time favourite post-FIAT model. But in the end I own a 1987 Alfa 75 2.5L V6 QV. A most underrated and special car. As an Alfa model, it seemed to get lost in the later glory of the Twin Spark version or 3.0. But the 2.5 is the last true Alfa saloon and the flagship of 75 range at its launch. Having driven all 3 versions mentioned, the 2.5 is by far the most charming. I would love to see a video of this particular model some day! Thanks again. Love the channel.

I have a weekend driver 08 GT 3.2 which was neglected for most of last year due to illness. I offered my Alfa loving nephew the car for a weekend to get some kms into it. He and his dad went driving. Two weeks later, he sold his near new Mazda 3 and subsequently bought a GT 3.2 with lots of kms on the clock. He couldn’t be happier. Three weeks later, his father bought a 159 1750 Ti, again with lots of kms. When the bug bites, it’s pretty hard. I sold a tuned 6 month old BMW 435i because, despite being a “nice car”, I found it a sterile drive. Not so my GT.

Great video. I love my Busso powered GT. It puts a smile on my face every time I drive it and it looks amazing in black with the red leather interior. I’m curious about the years of production though. Mine is a December 08 build but first registered here in Australia in November 09. There was also a 100th Anniversary model available in Australia, obviously in 2010, which were also fitted with the Busso V6. So those particular examples had engines that had been sitting in the factory for 5 years or more.

Nice video. I brought my Nero Jarama metalico 1.9 Lusso GT with tan interior 5 years ago and loved it so much I bought a Stromboli Grey 3.2 Busso as well! Both are great cars and about the most exotic looking coupes you can get for the money. The Busso is an amazing engine but so is my mapped 190bhp deisel GT. It doesn't sound anything like the glorious Busso but turns out so much torque it leaves my 3.2V6 behind in every day driving and and gives twice the mpg. Still the Busso is a true sonorous Italian experience which is highly addictive and does have the edge if you really hoon it. The only problem is the Wife who says I can only keep one - I have been putting off deciding which one will have to go for two years as they are both so good! Wish me luck.

Owned a GT 3.2 for a few years, then bought a Giulietta QV but still missing the formidable Busso growl and power. 😎

I’ve had 3 , a JTS , JTDm and a Busso...sold it for a 916 Busso , now have a 916 spider Zoe with a TS 2.0 and A Giulietta QV , yes you could say I like my Alfa’s just a little....I’ve also had another spider in silver and 2 TS GTVs ....oh and briefly a Brera ! I’d have another GT 3.2 in a heartbeat if the space and right car came up.

I drove one once… rather than having 100km marking it had a 90km marking… very strange for Australia. I lovely coupe.

I'm still loving my own GT to this day 🍀 It's a Rosso Rubino Blackline version which looks awesome! Something I'm wondering; given that the GT is on the 156 sportwagon platform and the 156 was available with a 2,5 busso with Q4, would it be possible to fit this driveline to the GT?

Never heard of the Japanese QO version, such a shame they never went with the Convertible, it suits the shape perfectly and would have made a great rival to the German and Swedish offerings. I sold GTs when new here in the UK, the 1.9 JTD was the top seller, I always wished they had put the 2.4 20V JTD unit in assuming it would fit, it would have been a flying machine and a good seller. A superior car in many ways to the Brera - more spacious, lighter, Alfa mechanicals and great seats, so comfortable and supportive. In some ways it reminded me of a Fiat Coupe successor with it's blend of practicality, performance and affordability. Hope Stellantis can eventually build a new version but doesn't look like it will be on the Giorgio platform sadly and most likely will be a EV, although I hear it's the GTV name that will be revived albeit on a car more closer to the GT in spirit with 4 proper seats like the Alfetta GT/GTV rather than the impractical 916 GTV

I really love the Brera from this time period. Stunning car. Not sure if you’d call it a GT, a hatch, a shooting brake…? How would you define it? Either way - what an absolutely stunning design.

Wow, a convertible, i would possibly buy that today... I'm wondering with the version 2 Fiat 124 gone from the market if you think Alfa or Fiat are due to bring another convertible out soon, ie once supply chains are back to normal in 2025 or whatever. All i can think of here is the 500 Cabrio which, love in my heart, is not the same.

So, in your video about the Brera you say it wasn't a Busso engine, but a V6 with a GM block and tuned by Alfa ( 2.19 to 3.38). Can you make your mind up, Which V6 is in the GTV, Brera, Spider and GT?

Had a 5 door 147 jtd at that time - GT was clearly nicer but not practical for me so I decided to go for the 147 instead - anyway this kind of car is missing somehow nowadays I think 🍀🥰

I never did quite warm to the styling - I thought it looked too tall and thin, and the lights looked a bit stuck-on to me. The Brera is a different story, however.

It's the poor man's touring supercar.

The GT is one of the best Alfa designs in the last 20 years. Too bad that many of them have the 2.0 JTS which is Alfas worst engine in the last 20 years, if not ever.
