I see you are becoming a fan of the modifier stacking! But yup, this is probably the current patch version of strongest cavalry. A debate can be made for Siam Ideas or Scandinavian ideas for more Cav Pip stuff, but that's a stretch, and I would rather not go into the math's. Great video!
@@thestudentYT This is about which ideas to take. So let's compare. Around the 16 minute mark you talk about how the 130% cav combat ability gives 4.6 shock. However, Polish ideas only give 30%, which is 0.6 of that. +1 fire pip is more than 0.6 shock pip (also this means that the higher the military tech is the worse the +1 fire pip is since it is a static modifier). Of course there is also shock damage increase which I have not considered, but I don't think the differences between the two idea sets are so big that one can confidently say that one idea set is better than the other in this case.
@@thestudentYTI don't think that's 1 to 1, you're comparing THE CCA of polands ideas specifically to the added cav fire of Scandinavia, or the cav fire and CCA of Siam
the raise cossac host thing is very funny because you can operate with 0 actual troops, induce the ai to calculate it can invade you, press the little button and keep winning defensive wars.
I know it's kinda small potatoes, but you can get an extra permanent 10% CCA by forming Pomerania and having Poland as an ally/vassal with relations of 120 with one of Pomerania's missions
The Ante bellum mod starts with a cossack nation, which can easily do this right from the start of the game. Also going for horde and aristocratic pretty much from the start. Having a lot of fun with these mad horses in the multiplayer game with my friend.
Winged Hussars can get even more insane with a custom nation that has the “Allow Winged Hussars” idea because that idea also has a hidden +20 Winged Hussars Limit at its highest level, so the equivalent of 2000 dev worth of province Force Limit. And of course you can stack with other ideas like Extra Cav shock, Cav Flanking, Cav Ratio, Shock Damage and Movement Speed, although you are limited to only +20% Cav Combat compared to the +30% from Polish ideas, but I’d argue the extra Cav pips and Extra Hussar Force Limit more than make up for +10% Combat ability.
Spawning full units out of thin air should never be a thing. That needs to be changed to what the manchurian banners work like. Also a limit should stay a limit. Not more special units than the limit allows. Anyways. Love this guide! Its really fun to watch.
I did this run after you first teased this idea, although I wish I had waited! Switching gov reforms to get aristo seems so obvious in hindsight but I didn’t think about it
This combination of cossack breakaway nation gov type, polish ideas and ruthenian abilities is SO BROKEN that it was almost disgusting to watch how insanely strong and overpowered you became! I wonder if this would actually allow you to challenge the Synthetics! Thanks for the great video, I love your abilities to find thing in the game we all think we know well we couldn't imagine.
This is a great strategy. Im currently in a Teutonic Holy horder/baltic crusader achievement run. Forming poland will definitely make me extremely op as soon as i get the holy horde reform.
If you attack Novgorod with no CB, you will get more provinces and can get almost perfect timing for cossacks independence around 1450-1451 to get all techs
another option for getting aristocratic as sich rada if you start as zaporozhie is to just wait to take the "call of the steppes" decision until you've taken admin tech 5, allowing you to take aristocratic and then immediately get sich rada, allowing for espionage and horde as your 2nd and 3rd idea sets!
@lindypill Ahhh, I'd initially assumed it was a custom nation, so I was confused when he was able to take Polish ideas. Regardless, still works for Zaporozhie!
There is the Polish mission that gives you a choice between strengthening your Hussars or getting both cav cost reduction and cav to inf ratio (although it's superfluous with sich rada). On an earlier patch I also think Zaporizhia was released with nomadic tech, which I think allowed for horde ideas. This was solved by forming Ruthenia before Poland as that decision gave Eastern tech.
You can run out of manpower using the upgrade monuments with manpower interaction but actually makes it even stronger since you can upgrade monuments super fast for free
The Winged Hussar Unit is probably one of the strongest units in the game right now, the fact that the default cost is 0 is insane. Like the “downside” of them taking normal time to recruit is a downside compared to banners or Janissaries, but units that don’t cost anything upfront is already insane, and that’s before they get basically the strongest special unit buffs in the game. Even if Paradox nerfed them to have an initial cost and weakened their buffs, they would still be a top tier unit. Absolute insanity. Like the meme is that the devs absolutely favor Sweden/Scandinavia, but who cleared the existing Winged Hussar setup lmao. It’s not even strictly linked to Polish provinces, just accepted cultures, so they have a leg up on the Special Swedish units even.
What are the actual benefits of forming Ruthenia ? Their mission tree suck if am not mistaken and we are not even keeping their ideas or gov reform. So is it not better to just stay Poland ?
You could squeeze a litlle more CCA by forming Pommerania and doing their mission for 10% permanent CCA and then forming France for their Government reform "Gendarmes" for another 10 CCA.
Someone must have leaked your video to PDX. Unfortunately, in 1.36 they have massively nerfed this. "- Raise Cossack Host no longer grants 50% of the force limit but 5%."
Honestly, 50% of your force limit in free units from a button every 2.5 years is literally overpowered and game breaking. Even the Muslim Piety button is only 2 years of manpower with a 5 year cool down, and you have to actually work for it. Plus, the button is all kinds of wonky, why is there a 10 year modifier on a button with a 2.5 to 3 year cool down? The wiki says it gives 20% force limit troops, which is about 1/3rd as much, which would make sense for a 10 year button. If they make it 3x faster, it should spawn 1/3 as many troops, rounded down to 5%. At least we can roll back to 1.35 for OP things like this.
every upload i am amazed you do not have more subscribers, your content is always top notch, keep it up! can i have the name of the graphics mod you use? it look great but i cant find it anywhere
OK, great video! But I still don't get why you formed Ruthenia. You didn't want ideas, missions, or the gov reform. So why waste autonomy and mana switching to Ruthenia? Maybe I missed something.
Really? I was just doing this run wondering why I should form ruthenia instead of staying as poland or even forming the plc or russia. Thought maybe ruthenia is similar to russia like the ottomans and rum but nothing. Thinking maybe I am missing a dlc but no, this bastard did it for roleplay!!!!! You cant do that to me. This was an optimisation video, not roleplay. At least tell us in the video that this is rp!!! Jesus man I was googeling for 45min to find out it was rp.
@@denislamesch8155 Haha I am really sorry for that but I can guarentee you that there would be close to no difference for this setup anyways: Russian Missions take way to long for their great Rewards to matter in this save and the best thing of the PLC is their Ideas which I did take of course... So you should be cautious telling me not to do the optimal: If I present a mechanic in a video then it is always very well and long thought which also includes comparing formables to each other and in this Game it was my decision that the formable End Tag doesn't matter, so I could do both: Play optimal AND do a very beutiful RP Border :)
Did the same thing as Zaphorizie but i formed Commonwealth for the missions, but i still think that Teutonic Order has the best millitary, hence you can get 100% cav/inf ratio and 100% cav flank range
Very cool video as I love cav armies and tried to achieve a similar result with zaporizhia but I don't get why you formed Ruthenia, don't you also have sitch rada interactions as poland ?
Intresting video I will give it a try. Question: If I have a Shock damage reduction modifier is it becoming more effective against this kind of setup? Also is it possible to counter this with a strong fire phase? Thanks
I played this exact setup untill end game and even with top level cannons you wipe them almost every time, you just get some more casualties on your side but you essentially got infinite cossacs (and at this point in game i was getting like 250-300k cossacs with one click every two years)
Start as an animist tribe in India, covert to Tengri and play as a hoard. Conquer Eastern Europe, become a monarchy, become Cossack breakaway nation. Form Poland. Now you have super elephants :D
11:20 - yeah this is just insane. It was kinda balanced for Russia because Russia had no troop quality to speak of. A nation like this that can muster up over +100* Cav combat and have special Cav with shock bonuses able to print ~1/2 of its force limit in Cav for basically free (a cooldown essentially) is just insane.
new question, i have now played a campaign like this and im wondering what exactly contributes towards the amount of units you are able to spawn? my force limit is 115 yet i only get 20k units so far, i thought it was based on force limit only?
Yes but they changed the amount in the patch 1.36 (it seemed thar they saw my video) so it is not as much anymore sadly but definetly still super strong :)
didn't think about the disbanding manpower but sich rada is getting more and more insane. also i'm confused because in my game the 1dev interaction can be used all the time, i don't have a ten year cooldown. technically this could still be pushed further since commonwealth's lifetime of war mission can give 10% CCA, but it's probably overkill. forming france for the gendarmes tier5 instead of cavalry warfare could be a thing (10 CCA and 5morale dmg instead of the overstacked cav cost and cav ratio, but if you formed france there's prolly nothing left to test your troops on
I did that few months ago and was disgusted how OP the army is. In later stages just casually raising 300k cossacks every two years or so just to use them either as battering ram or to feed the manpower pool. Stackwipe bonanza. 130 or even more cav combat ability. Literally infantry becomes a liability at this point. On top of that incredibly cheap.
13:22 - and again, another thing that wasn’t too broken with Russia because any Russian player worth their salt would already have functionally infinite manpower anyway, * but becomes insane on this nation that actually has troop quality and doesn’t have Russia’s insane manpower buff.
I still don’t understand why create Ruthenia, because usually Poland rolled into Ruthenia to get good ideas and reform the kingdom, but here we leave the Polish ideas and the Sich Rada, so there is no point in creating Ruthenia
Yes, an old video, and until new Cossacks DLCs (in nearby never) you wouldn't touch this gov reform, but the sich rada isn't pronounced like that. The last 2 letters have same pronunciation tch, like in word wiTCH
Yes I just found his first part video and am watching it now. I doubt I will have time for another campaign before the new DLC drops, and will have to see if this is still all valid then (I expect it would be as the DLC doesn’t touch this area, but I’m not sure what other patching is being done)
Wait. The Pips are just for rolls and the Military screen stats is the damage? The more you know, I was always confused about where the military screen numbers came from and the importance of that vs pips. So if I had one more fire pip then that unit gets an invisibile +1 roll in fire stage? Odd Hidden number, feel like both of these numbers should be viewable on battle screen they seem quite important, although I imagine its because with multiple nations its still not hugely useful like how morale etc can get hidden. Also I'm curious where the number for the government ability you showcased comes from, Because 60% Forcelimit seems like a lot so almost definitely isn't the flat amount it gives, Cultural makeup maybe? Could Limit its scaling, although in single player 70k manpower every 2 years is still insane, since thats 3k a month even late game its likely to approximately double your manpower recovery speed.
Pips are not really 1 to 1 related to Rolls... they are related to fire and shock phases same as Rolls and General Pips But yes the Number in the Military Screen is the base Damage that is dealt but there is also some Damage dealt just by the dice rolls and General Pips themselfs so the damage system is very very complex and doesn't work really the way that you would expect it... But basically the higher that base damage number is the more damage you'll do in the battle
is having sich rada goverment reform possible to get as teutonic order? because they have also strong missions for cavalery and if you could do that it would be even crazier
The Teutons aren’t an end tag as I recall, but we run into trouble. You need Cossacks, which to get as a Western Tech Group nation you’ll need to form Russia, which IS an end tag, and unfortunately from Russia the way to get Sich Rada is by doing the Cossacks Rebellion shenanigan that will strip you of your work as the Teutonic Order. You’ll either need another way to get Cossacks as Western, or a way to switch to the Eastern group - which too my knowledge isn’t possible without rebelling.
@@anabsentprofessor6120 you can get Eastern tech group by becoming horde - use Tibet and reforming government with a Christian religion but this still won't give you sich rada, only cossack estate
since i tryed that myself a few days ago, i can say that it is broken as fuck, somuch so that i would want to try it in mp. i played a bit more chill and tryed to rush goverment reforms, the most fun thing is the income from production when you have manufacturies in all grain provinces, the polish age objectiv and the russian vodka reform. made me about 200 income from production in about 1580
no, since the most op thing about sich rada is to get infinite armies and manpower for free. also having 2 differend types of special unites as main armies is not helpful, you through away what one can for what the other has.
@@andreasanastasiadis2950, do you lose sich rada by switching cultures to Manchu? He didn’t when he switched to Polish… Also, banners discipline seems more useful at end game than Cossack shock
It should be possible, the thing is that you would still recruit Cossacks from the button, so going for the banners, you loose the instantly fight ready army from space.
If I were to go to all this effort, I'd honestly rather form Russia over Ruthenia. Ruthenia's mission are kinda lackluster tbh, especially compared to Russia's. I'd honestly stay as Poland over forming Ruthenia. And you might say that you can't form Russia as Poland, however you can form Saxony as Poland, and then form Russia as Saxony.
I don't know if it works that way with Moscovy, but when I played for a custom nation with sich rada state reform, once russia is formed you can safely revert to the original state reform instead of tsardom.
Yes sure but you would need to switch back to a republic after that again... but anyways Divine Ideas doesn't really fir into this kind of the cav build anyways
@@thestudentYT Yes and no. Nobody in MP would let you do this (as Lorraine I actually single-handedly stopped a player from doing this a few months ago,), and in SP you could have done a world conquest by the time you stacked all those horses.
Nice video! But please tell me why the hell you form ukraine not PLC. Ukraine doestn have good mission nor evets. PLC maybe is not perfect tag but their mission and events are better. Unless you just make Ruthenia because you like it more then i respect you. Thanks for video and have a good day
agree about why ruthenian, since its an empire, its harder to switch again and its in the same culture as russian, i disagree about PLC because russia is way more op in the later stages of the game because of there missions and the age objectiv in the revolution.
Oof, buried in the Bugfixes of 1.36 is: Raise Cossack Host no longer grants 50% of the force limit but 5%. Looks like you got infinite manpower nerfed! Honestly, good, this is arguably too broken for EU4. Probably wasn't you, but I think it's funnier if it is.
Ich bitte sie um! Du musst nicht das "hundert" auf das Datum sagen. Man kann "vierzehn drei und fünfzig" auf Englisch sagen. Sparen sich die Geistesarbeit! 😅
