@@ratwithglasses1495 lambda basically turned his campaign into the turn-based strategy, where each in-game day was a separate turn so he could have more precise control over the country, also he used far more save scummings and exploits thus using the maximum potential of eu4 with zero RNG
@@ratwithglasses1495 Probably he would make it in the 1460s if he tried but I think that it couldn't be done with that strategy because on that WC it was everything built around the HRE which means that you cannot form the Roman Empire anymore
Lambda’s world conquest has huge categories of exploits that just aren’t used here. Most of them have actually been patched. One of them was when you attack someone if you quit the game fast enough their allies weren’t called. @thestudent, are you making the save available on patreon or somewhere? I’d love to have a crack at saving it!
-47 diplomatic reputation, about 100 unrest in every province, exhausted of war to the limit, overextended to impossible to fix level, army 5 times bigger than you can maintain, almost bankrupt and finally hated by all the known world. Seeing historically accurate Roman Empire is always welcomed.
@@phileascurtil5605stuff like this is somewhat easy to save, it just has the same tediousness as end-game WC. You ally some stronger tags, deal with rebels and then declare bankruptcy. You can release a couple subjects or give out some land to any neighbors who declare on you but after the bankruptcy has timed out and the war exhaustion is down you go back for the land. After all that is good it should be very easy reconquest wars
Interesting run -- I haven't seen much modern EU4 in action, so it was nice to see how broken reform farming actually is. Congrats on the WR. Makes me a bit more interested in playing EU4 seriously again...
I love the Student's long plays. For some reason they are much easier to follow. I just wish he had more of them - even unedited streams would be appreciated.
Amazing video und herzlichen Glückwunsch an die 10k Follower. My guess of the time was quite wrong, but I didn't expect you to form Jerusalem to became a Theocracy. That did speed things up quite a bit
Came back from work 1h ago, friday night, just started a cold one alone to chill and a video from you in what I was interested in. You made my evening bro, good luck with everything and as we say in Poland: for your health!
Honestly almost thought release byzantium from otto would have been the number one way. As i am not nearly as good as you i thought of my best game starting as otto realeasing byzantium i took all the east plus northern africa, italy and iberia. So i imagine that you could make it even better since mine was still stable. But honestly 29 years man thats incredible. Pls send to zlewikk for saving or try it yourself would also be fun
Even though the nation is ruined (historically accurate), can easily release some nations, declare bankruptcy, give in to rebels etc to restore stability. From then you are Rome, and can just enjoy the game.
So theoretically can’t this save still be salvageable by swapping to Roman Republic and making a couple pronoiars while doing the Angevin parliament issues that give you Spain and Italy as PUs?
No exploits besides savescumming. Farms an infinite reserve of gov reform with culture and theocracy hyjinks still an amazing run. Wait, was that peasant Aragon too?
@@thestudentYT Ben Johnson beat Carl Lewis in the 88 Olympic final in a 'world record', but he ended up with nothing. I like your stuff, but to claim a world record is just being a Ben Johnson, counts for nothing
@@pauldrake9312 Weird take that also is really unrealistic because you cannot really prove that you didn't savescum except for uploading 20 hours of VODs But of course you can think of it as you like, but I still think it is a great run
Save scumming is totally accepted by the speed running EU4 community. It would be like competing in pro level bodybuilding and complaining that people are using steroids -- yes, they are, and absolutely everyone knows and accepts that.
1) I don’t know why you’re claiming this as a world record, it isn’t, I’m aware of multiple faster games than this, including a 1471 on Very Hard. Unless you mean a record on this exact patch that released a week ago? 2) I don’t know why you just blatantly lie about “no exploits besides save scumming!!” and then proceed to use the most powerful exploit in the entire history of the game Funnily enough, it’s not even a bad game! 1474 is fast! I don’t know why you can’t just present it as what it is
I showed the 1471 Game in the Intro and gave direct Credit to it in the Outro (because that was an insane run) but I also said why I claimed this to be a World Record in 31:27: This Run id the only one that I found that was earlier and it was pre 1.36 so on the old decision... which means that I conquered 100 (30% more) provinces more in just 3 years more time which I would consider more than good enough to even out the 3 years and the very hard. You can of course be other opinion here but I think I explained it reasonable enough why I called it a WR (and never said a WR over all patches or something because then I should probably go back to 1.4 or something like that)
@@thestudentYT I think dum_idiet had a 1460s Rome formation, but he doesn’t tend to publicise his runs very much. In fairness, that was also pre the formation changes too. If you consider it “new Rome formation decision” world record I think that’s fair enough. I would add though that the flexibility offered by the changes arguably makes it easier, not harder … yes you have to conquer more raw provinces, but you can choose which ones, requiring fewer truce breaks generally and no longer enforcing specific awkward routing. Still, as I say, 1474 is quite fast, so GG!
Yeah fair... I thought I might be easier as well but I made the expierience that it is way harder as you need to conquer deep HRE land now as well as entire England which might be harder if not starting as England (also basically all 50 Provinces that you don't "choose" are in Mid-Germany so...) But If I wouldn't like the competition than I wouldn't have done that run so feel free to try and beat this time if you have the time for that ;)
@@thestudentYT Also, to add here, I don't think the fact that you have to conquer more provinces is a relevant point when in this patch you can stack a ton of WS reduction whereas in prior patches, you couldn't. You were forced to truce break multiple times on a decent number of nations.
@@lambdaxx1 Maybe yes but it didn't really feel that easy to me... But if someone does it way better than me in the same situation than I am the first one to congratulate! Also weren't the same modifiers I used also already available in 1.35?
Then it becomes very muddy with definitions of what is an exploit and what are intended game mechanics. I also love such runs, but they are not as clear cut as just using as much as the game rules give you.
Exploits should count as long as AI and RNG are scripted against player. For example, why shouldn't I save scum when I can't be pope at 80% chance or I'm stuck at some shit fort for years at 84% when AI just take all my country at 7% in the meantime?
